House members read the Constitution

Washington (CNN) - Members of the new Republican-led House of Representatives took part Thursday in an unusual event: a reading of the U.S. Constitution on the floor of the chamber.

The move was initially conceived primarily as an expression of the GOP's small-government values and a nod to conservative Tea Party activists who helped propel the Republicans to their landslide victory in last November's midterm elections.

I'm sure this is the very first time many of the DemocRATS have ever read the Constitution. If they would have read it last year and understood it, they NEVER would have tried to force American citizens to buy healthcare insurance. Hopefully this will be an enlightening experience for many of them. The dedicated leftists in the DemocRAT party are hopeless. They would rather tear it up than to read it.

Don't these people have anything better to do? I would sincerely hope they all know what's in the Constitution before running for office. This is typical of Congress though, waste time and waste money.

It is amazing that the house is reading the constitution of the United States with all its rights given to its citizens without a single comment on the responsibilities associated with it! Voting along party lines on every issue without thought does not require a constitution: it just requires that you be sheep.

The folks who drafted the constitution assumed that the responsibilities were obvious. Alas for a leadership that sticks to principle without reason and cause without thought.

The constitution is not a rough draft.

Most democrat liberals did not attend the reading, continuing to think that ignorance excuses their actions, even though yesterday, the swore to uphold the constitution. You see, to a democrat liberal, the constitution is trash, unless it can be used somehow to screw the hardworking, taxpaying American for the benefit of their drug addicted, non working, non taxpaying constituents.

I wonder if they actually read the phrase "promote the general welfare" aloud or did they instead either whisper it or just skip over that bit entirely.

What a waste of time and taxpayer dollars – those 84 minutes should have been used to address the pressing problems of the day, not placating the tea baggers republicans duped into voting for them.

    Lord have mercy.....!
    WTF?
It's not as if they are going to remember what they read, or let themselves be guided it.
Are they reading it so as to remind themselves what it is that they've been trampling on since the Supreme Court Justice rubberstamped the Shrub's Second Reign of Terror??

True patriots are not birthers. True patriots support the commander in chief as he directs the two Bush/republican wars.

Since republicans don't know crap about budgets and governing, can we call them fecal conservatives?

Does reading the constitution help my Title 42 section 1985 case,or will it change the fundamentals of the constitution and whom is elected in the future?
