(CNN) – Sarah Palin is getting some unsolicited advice from another popular Republican, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
Christie, who has never expressed particular affection for the former Alaska governor, says Palin needs to engage with the media and voters in settings less staged than those she currently utilizes.
“You have to look at it and see, what are they like when they’re tested, what are they like when they’re not scripted, what are they like when they’re pushed,” Christie told the New York Times Wednesday. He added the former vice presidential nominee “rightfully has been criticized” for her refusal to go less scripted.
Christie - whose no-nonsense and tough-guy governing style has won the hearts of many Republicans - has a communication strategy that differs markedly from that of Palin, often venturing into hostile territories and combating with critics.
“I would contend to you that if Governor Palin never does any of those things, she’ll never be president, because people in America won’t countenance that. They just won’t,” Christie added.
Christie’s comments came the same day Palin broke her silence on the Arizona shootings with an eight-minute video posted on her Facebook page that was criticized by Democrats and Republicans for its charged language.
During his 2009 campaign for governor, Christie said point blank he was not interested in having Palin campaign for him, telling reporters that an appearance by her in the traditionally blue state of New Jersey would not “do me, or frankly the state, a whole lot of good.”
I believe we have all seen Palin's "true colors" so to speak. I have no care to see more. She's a negative influence. No one can point to one selfless act. Everything points to "it's all about me" attitude. Unfortunately, her children's bad manners are a reflection of her and how she would run the country. Palin even statement to me is, she's a quitter. I have no use for someone like her and could not or would not trust her.
FYI, Gov: Palin's DONE! It's over for her. She's history. Nothing will pull her out of this spin.
That sounds kinda like a potential competitor in a future race.
Way to go Christie!
Can you imagine how it would be if it was not scripted? Scripted she shows her lack of knowledge, un-scripted she would show her lack of inteligence. Maybe she should just quit talking.
It also proves he is not to bright to even suggest that she could speak unscripted. Didn't he watch any of her interviews or just simply listen to her speak? She talks like a third grader only not as smart as one.
I think very little of Christie. Was he still at Disneyland in Florida when he made this statement? He makes a good cartoon character. Why would I consider anything he has to say.
Christie is asssuming that Palin is rational and has intelligence, like himself. He is mistaken.
way to tell it like it is christie!
Also, Palin can't debate like Christie. She would fail miserably. And then complain that everyone involved in the debate was part of the lamestream media. What a victim.
Christie for President
Since Palin knows more than everyone else about all things political I doubt that she will heed his advice. I don't particulary like Gov. Disneyworld, but he's right.
Putting her in less staged settings is the last thing her handlers want!
It's been in those settings in the past that she's actually spoken her "mind", and it has usually been a disaster.
I can trust and respect any Republican who has the courage to speak the plain truth about Palin and recognizes her for the "toxic asset" she is to the Republican party and to American ideals of polical civility. Frankly, I believe she is an Anna Nicole - resurrected - a sad, aimless and senseless clown in her own skin.
I love Gov. Christie for calling Palin out on her sham of a political career. I appreciate the fact he can tell a phony when he sees one and isn't afraid to tell the truth about her. Now that her TLC show has been cancelled...maybe the American public won't be subject to this fake any longer and she'll fade away into obsecurity forever!!!!
Palin has had more than enough interactions with the media and has made a fool of herself most of the time. She created the mess she is in and it is time for her to disappear back into a non-public life. She has shown over and over she is ignorant, has no human decency, and no leadership qualities. Less than 20% of Americans like her and she will never be anything more than a publicity seeker. She has done nothing positive and the media needs to ignore her and let us recover from the scourge of her on our nation. She has nothing to offer and we are all tired of listening to her daily hate and stupid statements. Just go away Sarah. You have ended your own career. Go be with your family and stop showing your ignorance and leave the nation in peace.
Seems like one of the smarter republicans out there. At least first glance, don't know much about him
Palin will disregard Christie's advice because she thinks she is America's darling and can do no wrong. This woman has serious personality disorders and a false sense of grandeur. She needs to face reality.
