Obama a one-termer, says Cheney

(CNN) – It's been months since he has given a media interview, but former Vice President Dick Cheney is making clear his sharp opinions on President Obama haven't changed.

In his first interview since undergoing heart surgery last July, Cheney told NBC News he still expects Obama will be voted out of office in 2012.

"I think he embarked upon a course of action when he became president that did not have as much support as he thought it did," said Cheney in the interview airing Monday and Tuesday.

Cheney, whose considerable weight loss took many by surprise when he publicly appeared at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bush library last fall, added Obama has proven himself to be out of touch with the role of the private sector in creating jobs.

"I think his overall approach to expanding the size of government, expanding the deficit, and giving more and more authority and power to the government over the private sector is a lack of– sort of a feel for the role of the private sector in– in creating jobs, in creating wealth and getting our economy back on track. Those are all weaknesses, as I look at Barack Obama. And I think he'll be a one term president," he said.

Cheney also addressed the Arizona shootings and the efforts by some to blame the events on the charged political atmosphere.

"I think we have to be a little bit careful here– about a rush to judgment," he said. "Trying to explain the event when we don't really know everything we need to know in order to be able to make sort of a final judgment. There's a lot more I'd like to know about the man who was the perpetrator of this awful crime."

Cheney also discussed his own health in the interview with NBC, saying he has yet to decide if he will elect to have a heart transplant. He currently uses a heart pump to stay alive, a device that ordinarily is not used for more than a couple of years.

"I haven't made a decision yet," said Cheney when asked if he will pursue a transplant. "The technology (of the heart pump) was originally developed to provide a transition. To take somebody who's reached the point where they needed a transplant but a transplant wouldn't immediately be available, so they put this in as a temporary measure.

"What's happened over time is the technology's gotten better and better and we've gotten more and more experience with people living with this technology. So I'll have to make a decision at some point whether or not I want to go for a transplant. But we haven't addressed that yet," he continued

I don't think this buffoon has been right about anything he has ever predicted. Looks like Obama will be reelected for sure now.

Just when we thought the rhetorical tide was turning, here comes Darth Vader to stoke the fires. Isn't it time he just retired? He's already done enough damage to the country.

"Iraq tried to buy yellowcake from Niger"

Why would we trust anything this man says? He is a liar.

Is something's wrong with your brain mr cheney? I... no, WE THINK you really need to go back to the hospital and just be quiet because your stupid republican agenda will just make America worse by the minute and if you think the majority of the people can be deceive by your lies, you're completely wrong! We have intelligence and common sense to know this kinds of things. Compared to President Obama who is working hard to Move America Forward (Towards Progress). Although i admit its taking some time... but it will surely pay off if you believe in it!

Cheney is a self-serving, money glorifying, attention whore of the first degree. He should take his puked up right wing rhetoric and choke himself with it. He seeks a government "of the corporations, for the corporations, and by the corporations". 'Nuff said.

Oh dont tell me we have to put up with Cheneys unwanted comments again? I thought he spent most of his time at hospitals these days! how can Obama get anything done with such a radical republican party opposing every idea he ever has? he inherited the problems they caused in the first place. Just ridiculous!

One can only hope that he opts to have the operation, and peacefully passes away. This man is so out of touch with reality that one wonders how he functions on a day-to-day basis.

Mr. Cheney, Obama himself affirmed during an interview some time ago that he'd likely be a one-term president.

Why don't you go bird hunting or something? We don't trust you anymore, and haven't for quite some time, O Mr. Halliburton.

And Cheney has been so spot on with his predictions in the past: :The insurgency in Iraq is in its last throes." – "Deficits don't matter." and so on.

We all know that Cheney was the one pulling the strings since Bush wasn't smart enough to actually pull off the creation of an economic crisis (Of which he didn't lose a dime like the normal folks) and start a war to get the Iraqi oil. He's just spouting sour grapes because he wasn't able to figure out how to instill martial law before getting voted out so he could stay in power. He should just retire and leave us alone. We would be a lot better off.

Dick, you were the main member of Progress For A New American Century (google it) and it flat out laid out the plans for the invasion of Iraq before you were even elected. Well done done, sir! You did what you needed to do. And what if Obama had anything to to with Halliburton? I believe there to be some selective memory here.

Mr. Chaney is wrong. President Obama will win a 2nd term. Far more people stand to benefit from having him in office over some Republican who wants to turn back the clock and take us backward instead of forward. As for being fiscally responsible, Chaney is a fine one to talk. They exercised no restraints during their 8 years in the White House. As for the lack of civility and vitriolic speech, Chaney know's all about that. His hatered of President Obama shows every time he steps up the mic...
