Palin hits new low in poll

Washington (CNN) - After a difficult and controversial two-week stretch for Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor's favorable rating has dipped to its lowest level since she joined the 2008 Republican presidential ticket and became a household name.

According to the new USA TODAY/Gallup survey, Palin's favorability rating has dipped to 38 percent while her unfavorable now stands at 53 percent. Gallup reports the 38 percent is a new low when it comes to the percentage of Americans who give the former Alaska governor a thumbs up. The 53 percent who dislike Palin is also a new high in Gallup polling. A similar poll in July found 44 percent of Americans viewed her favorably while 47 percent did not.

The poll surveyed 1,032 adults by telephone from Friday through Sunday and carries a sampling error of 4 percentage points.

The latest survey findings are no doubt unwelcome news for Palin as she considers whether to mount a presidential run. But in an appearance on Fox News Monday, Palin said the latest heat directed her way in the wake of the Arizona shootings has not deterred her desire to be a part of the public dialogue.

"I am not ready to make an announcement about what my political future is going to be. But I will tell you ... I am not going to sit down. I am not going to shut up," she said.

  1. Consider This...

Just a simple question. What GOOD has Sarah Palin done for our country by using the manner of speech she uses.
How has the debat been strengthed with "lock and load" candidates in cross hairs, the President is Unamerican and all the rest. I would sincerely like for someone to answer this question. This question is directed to Palin only.
I know others (on both sides) have used language they should not have also, but I would like an answer regarding Palin only.

I hope Sarah keeps bringing her message to America. She's bee assasinated by the liberals who simply want to stop the freedom of speech from ALL conservatives. And NO ONE – NONE – are as vocal as Palin has been. Close Palin down and Obama wins ...

This women has no manners or respect. She released her video on the day of the memorial for the vicitm's in AZ. She gives her interview on Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday. She is like the selfish self centered person who goes to a wedding and announces she is pregnant tkaing way the day from the bride. Her agenda comes first and attempts to distract from the real reason for the day. I just hope her popularity continues to drop.

Let's see. Gingrich told her to slow down. I wonder when Gingrich, like Rove and Christie, will start back peddling on this remark.

Does Palin truly think that We as Americans are just sitting tight holding our breaths just waiting for Her announcement on running for president? Does this woman truly think this highly of herself?
Well, if so, we are in BIG trouble.

  10. can't handle Vitriol of Obama

If Sarah Palin run for office, I will campaign hard for her, just as hard as I've campaigned for Obama in 2008. In 2012, I'd be voting for all Republican candidates from state to federal level. Democrat Party is the Labour Party of UK that destroyed their economy.

Thought it was funny when CNN compared the Presidents speech to a reality TV stars speech. A lot of people have a hard time getting it through their head that Palin isn't running for President.

why does she keep herself out there are any kind of potential political 'anything' is what amazes me..She QUIT her job as governor.. She went on to make a fortune writing a book and do a reality show..
She went in another totally different direction..
How does any of that put her in any position to be president?
Staying involved as governor seems to have been the way to continue a career in politics..
It seems she has opted for the celebrity and big money route..Does she really think if she dabbles in politics while being a celebrity she can jump back in for the next presidential election?
Where is she bothering to gain any experience for the job?
Have we really come to the point that we would elect a know nothing celebrity as president? I hope not..
But it seems she thinks we would..!

In reply to Freedom of Speech in the USA & Patriots Salute the Flag! Traitors don't!!!: Ms. Palin has no one to blame for herself for her low ratings. She clearly evidences what is so unsettling about some, but not all, Conservatives: they shoot and then ask questions, and they comport themselves with a knee jerk reaction to almost everything. Moreover, they tend to use words without any regard to what they mean, i.e. blood libel. I seriously doubt that Ms. Palin gave any thought to fully understanding not only the meaning of this term, but also how it would be received by the public. So, what we have here is a politician who not only is not conversant with current events (the Katie Couric interview), but also does not have command of the english language. And we want this person to become the most powerful person in the world? I don't think so.

For someone who is NOT holding a Public office and for someone who has not even announced they are intending to run for an office, she is doing pretty good...

Palin has blood on her hands – and she can't wash it off. words do matter and her actions wth the tea party group were mean and angry. Even though some say the tea party was not to blame in AZ., in reality her actions were involved. – She has not only destroyed herself but also the tea party. Note that Michell bachman, Dick army and others leading the tea party movement are being very quiet – they know- what she doesn't know – it's over she led them off the cliff.!

She's only been in this for the money and attention. Her star has long ago faded, but she'll keep going and attempt to make as much money, saying the most outlandish things possible, until no one listens. So if we all stop listening and not paying any attention she'll fade into the distance and return to the wilds of Alaska where she belongs.

Oh, that's too bad ( But I will tell you ... I am not going to sit down. I am not going to shut up," she said.) She needs to do both. Clearly she does not learn from experience and cannot think on her feet. (not sure she can think while seated, either!)

Granted she says some stupid stuff. But the real truth is the MSM has been doing a hit job on her from day 1. Smear campaigns, and more.

And sadly, most Americans are too ignorant, apathetic, or INSERT WORD of your choice, to realize it. I mean I still hear so many people criticizing her for things she never said. Comedy bits from Saturday Night Live that are attributed to her.

While I thoroughly disagreed with her comments regarding Assange, she in no way deserves the media ire that she's been giving. But what should one expect from the unofficial campaign and marketing dept. of the Democrat Media (ABC, CBS, CNN, NY Times, HuffPost, etc).

It's ridiculous....if Sarah Palin has done anything, it has been to prove without a doubt the media's bias and antagonism toward those on the right.

Sarah, here's a bit of advice: When you're walking on eggs, don't hop. In other words, Shut Up!
Everything the woman says is negative. She doesn't have a good thing to say about anybody.
