Palin hits new low in poll

Washington (CNN) - After a difficult and controversial two-week stretch for Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor's favorable rating has dipped to its lowest level since she joined the 2008 Republican presidential ticket and became a household name.

According to the new USA TODAY/Gallup survey, Palin's favorability rating has dipped to 38 percent while her unfavorable now stands at 53 percent. Gallup reports the 38 percent is a new low when it comes to the percentage of Americans who give the former Alaska governor a thumbs up. The 53 percent who dislike Palin is also a new high in Gallup polling. A similar poll in July found 44 percent of Americans viewed her favorably while 47 percent did not.

The poll surveyed 1,032 adults by telephone from Friday through Sunday and carries a sampling error of 4 percentage points.

The latest survey findings are no doubt unwelcome news for Palin as she considers whether to mount a presidential run. But in an appearance on Fox News Monday, Palin said the latest heat directed her way in the wake of the Arizona shootings has not deterred her desire to be a part of the public dialogue.

"I am not ready to make an announcement about what my political future is going to be. But I will tell you ... I am not going to sit down. I am not going to shut up," she said.

So 38% still see her in a favorable light? But it makes sense because that's about the same percentage of the public who blindly follow the fox/rush propaganda of ignorance is bliss.

I dont see much difference in what the meidia did to Phalin from what they did to Richard Jewell.

When the left is ready to lynch anyone for simply having different thoughts then have the nerve to complain that the person they are trying to lync defends themselves.

So if someone in the media called, say Alexander Mooney, a child molester Mr. Mooney should not defend himself?

It is very apparent where the hate comes from, just because you have people on here that support your hate does not mean the majority of people in the real world dont see it for what it truly is.

This is exacly the reason Dems lost the house........ keep up the obnoxious retoric against your enemies.

Sarah Palin is the comic relief of American politics.

But, recent history aside, you don't elect clowns to become President.

It's just strange how people can even get by the simple fact that it took going to five colleges to get a degree! At the other end of the spectrum, here we have one of the most educated presidents of all time. People refuse to see the obvious when it comes to a person of color!

@ Doug: The democrats of the 60's were against civil rights you say? Wasn't it President Lyndon Johnson, a democratic president, who usured in all the civil rights legislation including the 1964 civil rights act that tea bagger Rand Paul opposes? I believe it was.

Ahhhh. Don't you just love the comments posted here. Seems the only people that have a right to their opinions, and to state them, are the left. Typical left thought process. Attack, Attack, Attack. If you yell it loud enough and long enough you can probably get other to believe you. Worked for all the elitists and dictators in the past. I have a different opinion, therefore I must be dim witted, dumb, stupid, uneducated, and of course, a crazy Republican or Conservative.

Talk about complete numb-nuts. Just look at all the self-righteous lefty posts here. I will let those speak for themselves.

This just proves how stupid the American People are. They voted for a loser of a President. Sarah Palin for President in 2012. She is more experience and qualified to be President then Barrack Obama and that is a fact.

Palin is basically saying she doesn't really care that Gabriel Giffords was shot and how Gabriel spoke of her concerns that such cross hairs images and those distributing them could cause harm. Gabriel said "for example we're on Sarah Palin's targeted list, the thing is the way that she has it depicted has the cross hairs of a gun site over our district and when people do that they've got to realize there are consequences to that action" Instead of Palin accepting responsibility for what Palin approved and distributed and how it could easily be interpenetrated by some mental case with a gun as an actual hit list, Palin tried a weak attempt at saying other politicians have been using maps like these for years. The FACT is that Sarah Palin and ONLY Sarah Palin has used gun scope cross hairs on her target map, period. No matter how she tries to spin this and discard it, she will wear and own it forever, it's all hers and only hers, now shut up and sit down Palin before you get someone else shot and killed. The blood of a 9 year old girl and others are now on your hands.

She just never gets it. She is always right and everyone else is wrong. Poor, Poor Sarah. She needs to realize she will never be anything but an entertainer, a very poor one, but an enterainer is what she is. Not a politician.

What I find amazing is that her favorability rating is even at 38%. The dumbing down of America, and the Chinese are just patiently waiting.

funny how her ilk will turn on her, when she's been saying cooky stuff like this since 2008! she has been nothing but a dumb broad with no intelligence and nothing but hate, fear and ignorance in her veins! And the only thing this "poll" does is show us that 38% of this country is still bonkers right along with her! the AZ killings were sad yes, and tragic. But that does not excuse the fact that the right has contributed to it! PERIOD...with all the hate they've spewed over the last 2 years, in town hall meetings, use of language that stirs up the crazies, the hatred & racism towards obama, the endless fillerbustering and NO NO NO from the right..when you are constantly doing negative things like that, it's BOUND to have a negative impact! don't give me this garbage that it's done on both sides of the aisle..i don't buy it one bit!

38% is still an amazingly high number. It's scary to think that I live among 38% of people whose brain are functioning at such low level.

First off, I do not support Palin for President. hat being said, it is quite obvious that the libs on this board have certainly not heeded Obama's call for civility in political discourse.

Palin: just another small-town pretty face, but unfortunately one with an ego the size of Africa! (the continent) Give it up, Sarah! Go home and count your money! And, while we're at it, for having unleashed Palin on an unsuspecting America John McCain ought to be tarred & feathered!

I find it hard to believe that there are people who think Palin is qualified to be president. The 38% who think favorably of her are undoubtedly white males who think with their Johnson's instead of their brain's. What's even more appalling is how cowardly and gutless the republicans are who refuse to stand up and publicly say she's unfit to run for president. Even "tough-guy" Chris Christie is back paddling from his negative remarks about Palin. I swear she is the puppet-master of the GOP! No doubt about it.
