(CNN) - Republican South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint is opting out of an appearance at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), making him the latest Republican to the criticize what some have seen as a pro-gay tilt to the prominent conference.
"With leading conservatives organizations not participating this year, Senator DeMint will not be attending. He hopes to attend a unified CPAC next year," DeMint spokesman Wesley Denton told CNN.

(CNN) - Keith Olbermann is leaving MSNBC, the "Countdown" host announced on his program Friday night.
The liberal commentator said he was told "this was going to be the last edition of the show."
"In the mundane world of television goodbyes, reality is laughably uncooperative," Olbermann said.
Friday's announcement marks the end of an eight year career at the network.
The news comes after the prime-time host was suspended in November for violating the NBC ethics policies when he donated to three Democrats seeking federal office.

During an address to the Democratic retreat in Cambridge, Maryland Friday, Biden said he's heavily involved in the draw down of troops in Iraq and that "Wolf Blitzer isn't the real guy in the Situation Room," he is.

(CNN) - Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said he's more likely to run for president if former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin runs.
In an interview on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight," Giuliani, who dropped out of the 2008 Republican presidential primary, said running against Palin for the 2012 GOP nomination would show him as a moderate Republican.

(CNN) - First lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to tape an interview appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" Friday as part of her signature effort to support military families.
According to the first lady's office, Mrs. Obama will "discuss her plans to launch a comprehensive national campaign…to recognize, honor and provide ways for everyone to step up and answer the call."
