Presidential buzz surrounds Bachmann

(CNN) – As if Rep. Michele Bachmann's foray into the early-voting state of Iowa didn't raise enough 2012 speculation already, now comes news the Minnesota Republican will meet behind closed doors with two of the most important GOP officials in the state.

Bachmann, who is heading to Des Moines Friday to deliver a keynote address at an event sponsored by the Iowans for Tax Relief, is also scheduled to meet with newly-minted Republican Gov. Terry Branstad and Iowa GOP head Matt Strawn, Bachmann spokesman Doug Sachtleben tells CNN.

Sachtleben would not say if Bachmann's potential presidential ambitions would be discussed in the meetings, though it's safe to say both Branstad and Strawn will be pivotal behind-the-scenes players in the lead up to the first-in-the-nation caucus.

Earlier this month, Sachtleben told CNN that Bachmann "hasn't ruled anything out" when it comes to a presidential bid.

The outspoken congresswoman was among the first conservatives to embrace the Tea Party movement and has remained one of its staunchest allies in Congress. Last year she formed the House Tea Party Caucus and is usually a staple at Tea Party-backed events throughout the country. Bachmann is also a political ally of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, herself a Tea Party favorite who is mulling a presidential bid.

While little known to the broader electorate, Bachmann would enter the presidential race as a relatively familiar face to the Republican base. Her constant presence at conservative conferences in Washington and her at-times eyebrow-raising comments have all but made her a national figure among many Republican stalwarts – as well as a constant target of Democrats.

Not any better than Palin and a lot worse than the rest of the Republicans whose names have been floating out there but then no one in the entire field floats the boat of most people from what I can see. Toss her and Palin onto the same ticket and they'll sink the boat entirely.

Democrat's have constant pleasant dreams about the possibility of a Palin or Bachman or Gingrich candidacy!! It would guarantee an Obama re-election in 2012.

Can't rule it out. Palin as Secretary of Defense and Christine O'Donnell as VP with Sharon Angle as Secretary of the Media.

Palin,O'Donnell, Bachmann. This is the Republican idea of being an inclusive unbaised party. The men in the Republican party feel so inadequate that the only woman who can get in must be a nutcase and have lots of hair. Why are they afraid of having a woman prominent in the Republican Party who can actually put together a reasonable argument without sounding as if they haven't been laid in decades. Of course being mean spirited goes a long way to being accepted by the party,

Wow....Bachman, Palin, Santorum, Gingrich...these candidate forums are going to be a blast to listen to and will certainly not help position the Republicans as a reasonable alternative to Obama.

The list grows ever larger for the republican party of who believes that they have chance in hell of being president. The funny thing is that many has beens, wanna be and morally corrupt individuals have been touted as a possible presidential candidate from the right. Not that long ago Mark Sanford was the darling of the conservative party until he went to another country to find anotehr canal to explore. Once the news came out that Mark was actually more interested in being a canal explorer than politics, he fizzled like a sparkler on new year eve or 4th of july. Than of course there is Mitt who was for Healthcare before he was against it. He was for it when he was governor of MA and than decided he was against it when trying to be the candidate for the WH. Than there was Pawlenty who got caught up in a huge lie about labor unions being hired by the gov't. Than of course we have to add the bible thumper Huckabee on cap and trade which of course he was for it before he was against it. As he clearly stated 2007 he was for and supported cap and trade emission but oops, he had to walk back from that. And last, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour with his famous remarks....Now we have the deranged motor mouth bachy thinking about it.....Yeah this should be fun to watch.......Let the circus begin...

Michele Bachmann has done NOTHING in Congress for the 6th CD of Minnesota since her election in 2006.

What she has done is USE her position as a member of Congress to further her own agenda at the expense of the 6th CD. She is all about GRANDSTANDING!!! She has NO Record of any Legislative accomplishments to base a run for President on.

The 6th Congressional District in Minnesota ranks #1 in the State for Home Foreclosuers, Unemployment, those with NO Health Insurance, and low Business Growth. She has done NOTHING to address those issues with the people suffering, other than to appeal to her big monied donors.

If Michele Bachmann thinks she can beat President Obama in 2012, I have Ocean Front property in Iowa to sell her.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! She is easily, EASILY, the stupidest, nutjobbiest, most mendacious person in Congress. The only credit she could possibly deserve is that she's knows her constituents are as batsh-t crazy as she is and is therefore very good at telling them precisely what they want to hear...but it's entirely counterbalanced by the fact that she's willing to LIE in order to do so.

Al least Michelle Bachman, unlike Sarah Palin, is attractive, intelligent, and can speak full sentences even if she is just as loony as Palin.

As a life long Minnesotan, nothing would make me happier than to be able to vote against Michelle Bachmann in a Presidential election. Actually, I take that back. Being able to vote against Bachmann with Tim Pawlenty as her running mate would make me happier.

If anyone votes for this lunatic...you definitely need a mental examination! Bachman is worse than Palin if that is even possible or imaginable!! Will the GOP ever stop with their endless array of losers who want to be the POTUS???

You know, I think this woman is about to edge out Sarah Palin in the Dumber-than-a-Box-of-Rocks category. Who are the voters who keep electing this person? There must be something in their drinking water.
