Kucinich vs. the olive
Washington (CNN) –Dennis Kucinich is no fan of pit-filled olives - and now he's doing something about it: Taking one of Congress' cafeterias to court.
In 2008, the Ohio Democrat purchased a sandwich wrap filled with those olives at the cafeteria inside the Longworth Office Building. After biting into the wrap, he cracked a tooth, according to the legal complaint.
Now he has come forward with a $150,000 lawsuit against the cafeteria - run by Restaurant Associates and other groups - for providing "dangerous" sandwiches.
According to the complaint, reported by Courthousenews.com, the sandwich wrap was "unwholesome and unfit for human consumption, in that it was represented to contain pitted olives, yet unknown to plaintiff contained an unpitted olive or olives which plaintiff did not reasonably expect to be present in the food prepared for him, and could not visually detect prior to consumption."
As a result, Kucinich received "serious and permanent dental and oral injuries requiring multiple surgical and dental procedures, and has sustained other damages as well, including significant pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment."
No word yet on what sort of enjoyment was lost.
A Kucinich spokesperson told Gawker that he has "no comment other than to say this is a private legal matter."
The dental procedures obviously worked, he still bites.
Hard to believe he was ever taken seriously as a Presidential candidate.
Wait a minute...don't Congressmen get free medical and dental care?
I guess he is so poor that suing is his only way to get his bills paid. And he can rest easily knowing that the cafeteria that made the mistake will go probably go out of business, or at the least have to scale back on employees in order to pay him for his dental work that he can't afford.
Win win for the congressman. It's the American way.

He cracked a tooth, thats it...what kind of permanent pain and suffering does he have. He should be locked up with the lawyer who took the case and be made to eat unpitted olives for the rest of his life....My god people...when are you all going to start taking personal responsibility??? I give you Exhibit A for (1) What's wrong with Congress, (2) What's wrong with the Democratic Party in particular, and (3) Why we need to pass every law possible to minimize the influence of trial lawyers. It's hard to find a single problem in America that doesn't have its roots with that sleazy bunch.

Here in Canada we get a fair share of American television channels and if you don't know if you're watching a Canadian or American channel the quickest and most sure fire way to tell is to wait until the commercial break to see if you get one commercial after another for lawyers advertising all kinds of reasons why you maybe have been wronged so you can give them a call – then you know it's an American station. Canadian stations carry virtually none of these ads. I'm just saying.....

Kucinich used to be one of the few congressmen that I admired and respected for his strong principles. - sigh - Now there are none. It's sad to see that he's just another money-grubbing, irresponsible politician.
His coffers are running dry. His constiutents got tired of the Howdy Doody look and stopped sending in cash. He had to make up the shortage from someplace.

I agree that he shows exactly what is wrong with Congress, Democrats, and America. No personal responsibility at all! Always point the finger elsewhere. I think that he should be happy to have a wife far hotter than he should be able to have and be given a high paying job with fantastic benefits that the vast majority of Americans would die for.
BTW, if he needed a root canal and crown that would be $5-6k, or $6-7k for an implant and crown. At triple damages for pain and suffering, that would be $20-25K basically. What a DB!

I'd definitely try to seek compensation for the repair of the tooth, but $150,000?

He should feel lucky that he has health and dental insurance paid by the taxpayers of this country so that he can get his tooth fixed! Millions of Americans around the country who have lost jobs and their insurance cannot receive any medical care at all! And, many of them have cancer and cannot get their chemotherapy! I swear I don't know how this man can look in the mirror at himself every morning! He's disgusting!

As I have always stated, the problem with our Nation is LAWYERS...who comprises 99% of Congress? They should not be allowed to serve as they simply initiate self serving legislation, conflict of interest. We would be far better off if we had tradesman as our representatives, they have a knack for common sense and have actually earned their money through hard work rather than fleecing it out of someone else. Why legislate new immigration law when we don't enforce the existing ones? How is that Blago trial coming along now, anyone heard?
