Cornyn will run for Republican Senate whip

Washington (CNN) - Texas Sen. John Cornyn, who oversees the campaign efforts on behalf of Senate Republicans, will run for GOP whip in the next Congress, a Cornyn aide confirms to CNN.

"Let there be no mistake, Sen. Cornyn is running for whip," a senior Cornyn aide told CNN.

Cornyn is chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Current Republican Whip Jon Kyl of Arizona announced Thursday that he would retire when his term ends at the close of 2012.

Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander, now the number three Republican in the Senate announced Thursday that he too will run for the position. Sources close to South Dakota Sen. John Thune tell CNN he is likely to make a play for the post if he doesn't run for president. Thune will announce his plans later in February.

I wish Cornyn who is one of my elected officials working for the federal government would work instead of prance around trying to raise $$ for future elections. He continues to state the federal government is broken – HE IS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT that represents Texas. GET MOVING ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION reform along with all the other gop elected officials from the border states. Quit kicking the can down the road....or quit saying the system is broke. YOU ARE THE SYSTEM!

Cornyn is just another southern, religious bigot who is a legend in his own mind.

The man who collects money from Wall Street for the Republicans in Congress is probably one of the most corrupt men in the Senate. Another white-haired bureaucrat whose agenda has nothing to do with doing what's right for the country.

Whether it be Cornyn, Thune, or Alexander, republican leadership will continue to be completely out of touch with a vast majority of Americans and will do everything to continue on the job killing republican path of destroying America economically.

There will always be a place in the republican party for Mubarak, so maybe they can hire him, and he can advise them on how to rule with minority support.
