(CNN) - Real estate mogul Donald Trump continued to stoke the fire Monday, responding to Rep. Ron Paul's criticism of the billionaire as someone who has never run for office.
During a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference Thursday, Trump said the Texas Republican was an "unelectable" candidate for president. In an interview on CNN's "American Morning" Monday, Paul countered that he has won 11 elections.
"I don't know how many elections he's (Trump) won so far himself," Paul said.
Monday on CNN Trump countered that he's never won an election because he has never run.
"But I've employed thousands and thousands of people," Trump said. "I've made billions of dollars, which if I ever decided to run, which is a possibility frankly, I would make lots of money for the American people."
The reality television star, who is considering a run for president, said he thinks Paul is a "great guy" but has "zero chance of being elected."
Paul ran unsuccessfully for president in 1988 and 2008 and won the CPAC straw poll Saturday with 30 percent of the vote.
If Trump were to win the election in 2012, he said his first action would be imposing a 25 percent tax on Chinese products to make sure the Chinese government is "treating us fairly."
"I've never been elected because I've never run in an election and maybe I wouldn't do well and maybe I would," Trump said. "But I can tell you one thing, if I ever did get elected this country would be respected again."
Trump plans to bankrupt the country as he bankrupted some of his businesses. I think I'll pass. Ron Paul has more credibility than you Donald and I don't agree with Mr. Paul on much.
Trump thinks he's going to intimidate the rest of the Republican wannabees like he does his "underlings" who work for this creep.
I can't wait until he tries to do it to Sarah Palin, she will clean his clock, for all her faults, the one where she forget the sense of right and wrong, is a beautiful fault when turned on the Republicans 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
First of all, Trump although entertaining, is not someone I want running our country. He has been bankrupt not once but multiple times and although has become very wealthy again, I have to think Mark Burnett has a LOT to do with that. Trump would not make us a respectable in the eyes of the world but a joke. I do not mind watching his show but in part because of the crazy people and antics on the show. This is just a publicity stunt to get more viewers for his show. At least I hope that is why he is threatening to run for president.
A class act. As an out-of-touch billionaire he is a PERFECT Republican!
Would it be a "quality " administration? Thye would outdo JFK in nepotism.
Please shut up .......you combover blowhard.......
Sorry Donald. Mr Paul knows his stuff far above you.
one of my Democrat friends suggested Palin and Trump for the 2012 Republican ticket. That way, no matter who ran on the Democratic ticket, the Democrats would retain the white house in a landslide
So he is raising taxes 25% in effect. Smart move guy, your fired.
Trump is a joke!
I'll settle it for them – they're both unelectable... and that should not be a newsflash to anyone.
Donald Trump has too many unanswered questions that nobody is willing to ask him, but he sure has a lot to say about everybody and everything. I'm very caucious about people who know everything about everything.
Barack Obama is an Orator, Donald Trump is a windbag.
Sarah Palin is HOT, Donald Trump has a comb over.
John McCain is OLD, Donald Trump is a windbag.
Donald Trump would MAKE America a laughing stock...
But he should run.
Paul may have won 11 elections BUT he hasn't won the BIG ONE and he never will, thank goodness!! Trump on the other hand, may stir things up, he certainly isn't presidential material. At any rate, as much as I dislike them both, they would be a far cry better than Nobama. I'm so sick of this country kissing their ___s!
Hey Trump,
Stay in business where you are clerly gifted. I don't think you would enjoy politics as much as you think you might. For one thing you can't fire Congress
How many bankruptcies has he filed?
I don't really like or dislike The Donald all that much for various reasons, but I admit, he'd be a great president. He would be good for America and would work HARD to make it great again...cause it sure isn't now!
"I would make lots of money for the American people."...imposing a 25 percent tax on Chinese products to make sure the Chinese government is "treating us fairly." Wow, Trump is a bigger idiot than I previously thought.
It is interesting that Captain Poof-hair thinks his election would result in America being "respected again." I wonder how exactly that result would happen since even those who are amused by this clown certainlty don't "respect" him. I'm just glad Trump didn't turn out to be a Democrat. As it is, he will just add one more nut case to the Republican field.
To Trump and all these would be popularity punidents, that sound in your ear that you think is people cheering you on to run for president is really a bunch of insects. Knats and mosquitos size brains just pumping up your ego, when they know you really don't bring anything to the table but another opportunity for the media to have something to talk about (example, see Sarah Palin)
Trump is looking for publicity, the second he's asked for financial records game over. He wants us to thinks he's a billionaire, opening those records and all will see what a financial fraud he is. He will probably be working for the Chinese soon, when they buy all up his much mortgaged and leveraged buildings.
"You do realize that taxes are the lowest they've been in 50 years, capital gains are taxed at half of that rate and that GE, Bank of America and a whole boatload of other companies paid no corporate income tax last year, right?"
Of course he realizes that. Half or more of the tinfoil hat brigade to whose nonsense talking points we are treated on a daily basis are astroturfers whose job it is to come to comment sections like this one and spread said nonsense talking points in order to muddy the discourse and inflame the anger and fear generated by unjustified blind adherence to conservative ideological predispositions. CNN ignores the story, but it's out there if you Google it. The example I've used before of large groups going to Amazon to give one-star ratings to "liberal" books isn't made up...it is, in fact, a specific example used by libertarian republican astroturf training guru Austin James while teaching Teatards how to "manipulate the medium." Fact is, the "liberal media" doesn't want to touch the story because, again, the last thing they want to do is truthfully collapse Astroturf Frankenstein when its existence provides so much red meat for their advertising department.
Donald Trump would make a bad President, he just about as Saran Palin. The Republican Party with all these IDIOT running making It look like a big JOKE. I would say about 95% of the people that running for the Republican Party are Unelectable.
Don...please do us all a favor and Ditch the Make-up! You look ridiculous with your fake powder glow and bad make-up! Make-up is for chicks.
Trump has never filed for bankruptcy. He's always been too big to go bankrupt and he always comes out on top. I'm rooting for him because I'd love to see him debate Obama the clueless.
