Bachmann relying on faith for 2012 decision

(CNN) – She's making visits to all the crucial early-voting states, but Rep. Michele Bachmann says she won't run for president unless she feels a sense of "inner assurance."

Speaking to the Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody, the Minnesota Republican and tea party favorite says prayer and reflection will ultimately drive her decision-making process.

"I think it will be an inner assurance more than anything of what I am supposed to do," Bachmann said in the interview published Friday.

"We're strong people of faith. My husband and I gave our lives to the Lord when we were 16 years of age and so that's been a long time now," she continued. "We're both almost 55 years old and that has been the greatest help and source of stability for both of us to have that ability in prayer to look to the Lord for guidance and I can't say enough how important that's been to us to give us that rock of assurance on which path we should go."

Bachmann's comments came ahead of a trip Friday to South Carolina – one of the handful of early primary states that is often crucial in deciding who the party's nominee will be. She has also made trips to Iowa and will visit New Hampshire in March as she mulls a presidential bid.

"I think the voters in particular, in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, they have a tremendous opportunity. But also, a sacred duty, if you will, because they will be choosing our next nominee and 2012 is a crucial window," Bachmann said. "Again, we have to get the policy right in 2012, or we could be looking at a vast sea of red ink. The United States of America now think of this. The greatest nation that has ever been known in the annals in history, we could become a Greece if we don't reverse course, quickly."

I would say I can't wait for the next election to be over with so this circus would end, but then just like the last one on Nov 5th 2012, the head line will be "Will Palin/Bachman run in 2016?!"

Oh great. Another theocrat with a face so full of Botox and collagen that she can barely move her eyes.

When doubts creep into your mind, drag out the Bible angle. Bachmann knows she has nothing new that other candidates don't have, so why not go for the Bible-thumpers. Hopefully they will use brain power also, not just scriptures.

She has to rely on faith. She certainly can't rely on brains.

In other words-I want a Theocracy-not a Democracy. Not a great idea IMHO.

That should be a new low for the reputation of Christians. Someone as divisive, and willful liars as Bachman claiming to be a christian is not a good testimony for Christians.

I'm relying on my faith as well Michelle. I'm praying that God strikes you, Rush, Sarah & Beck down with a bolt of lightening for spewing hate and division. Since I live in Virginia, I may get ask Pat Robinson's opinion on the matter of supposed "Christians" speaking hate.

Just what we need – another person in high office who's convinced that their god put them there. Did Bush show us clearly enough how lousy a qualification that is? Sheesh, people – learn to value reason and a firm foundation of logical ethics rather than mushy faith in a mystical myth.

Well, it had to be something...we knew she couldn't be relying on rational thought, accurate information and a throough understanding of reality and the world around her.

Yes, I am sure Bachmann will listen to Jesus. We have a parrot in Jesus Christ because he is always talking to republicans.

No right wingnut can EVER be a Christian as they sow hate for their fellow man. Bachmann is NOT a Christian ....nor is Sarah. Clever greed rules fearful ignorance.

Whenever any of these idiots appear in the news, or open their mouths in an attempt to make themselves out as leaders, the question comes to mind, would God allow this to go on in his name? Think about it.

Oh please, dear Lord, give us a Palin/Bachmann team. This should give us another 4 years of a thoughtful, sane, intelligent president.

So many great posts here against Bachmann ... personally, I'm hoping she'll run to perhaps once and for all convince voters that our country needs thoughtful, intelligent, dare I say MATURE leadership. All these playground ninnies with their nasty soundbites and deliberate ignorance of reality is just getting to be too much.

And this lip service to Christianity! Jesus was a Liberal through and through, for didn't he say in Matthew 25:40 " Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Bachmann, Palin and all the others who proclaim faith but only use it as an excuse for all their bad behavior would do well to go back and study this passage from the Bible ...

BTW, I'm telling you that there is something really wrong with Bachman, besides her waco ideas and crazy talk, she is looking much older and much blotch-ier lately. Just about a year ago she was a very hot woman, but she is really going down fast...

...could be a symptom of a liver problem, I hope she gets her physical on a regular basis.

Considering Palin's been pandering for God's endorsement in much the same manner Bachmann now embraces, it will be interesting to learn which of the two of them God favors most. I suspect God isn't much impressed with all this pimping being done in His name . . . fact is, I doubt these two GOPers have gotten beyond the window dressing, and in all probability don't tax themselves overly much with God's word to begin with - unless it becomes beneficial to them to do so, that is.
