Limbaugh takes aim at Michelle Obama's waistline

Washington (CNN) - Michelle Obama is taking heat from talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh after a report in the Vail Daily that she consumed a not-so-healthy-meal of ribs for dinner while on a recent visit to the Colorado resort, the latest example of conservative angst directed at the first lady's healthy-eating initiative.

"The problem is, and dare I say this, it doesn't look like Michelle Obama follows her own nutritionary, dietary advice," Limbaugh said Monday on his radio program. "And then we hear that she's out eating ribs at 1,500 calories a serving with 141 grams of fat per serving."

"She is a hypocrite," Limbaugh continued. "Leaders are supposed to be leaders. If we are supposed to go out and eat nothing, if we are supposed to eat roots, berries, and tree bark, show us how."

The Vail Daily reported Sunday Mrs. Obama dined at the restaurant Kelly Liken in Vail Village, ordering "a pickled pumpkin salad with arugula and a braised ancho-chile short rib with hominy wild mushrooms and sautéed kale." The first family, minus the president, went to Colorado for a long weekend of skiing.

"I'm trying to say that our first lady does not project the image of women that you might see on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue or of a woman Alex Rodriguez might date every six months or what have you," Limbaugh also said Monday.

Limbaugh's comments cap off a week of jabs directed at the first lady over her campaign to fight childhood obesity, taking flak from Rep. Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin, among others, for encouraging mothers to breast feed their children as a way to keep obesity levels down.

Mrs. Obama was also the subject of a controversial cartoon last week on conservative journalist Andrew Breitbart's website, in which an over-weight depiction of the first lady is shown telling her husband, "Shut up and pass the bacon!"

A website devoted to Mrs. Obama's anti-obesity effort lays out how the waistlines of American children have been growing at alarming rates over the last 30 years.

"The physical and emotional health of an entire generation and the economic health and security of our nation is at stake," Mrs. Obama is quoted as saying on the site.

What is this man saying is very silly! Evenif Mrs. Obama were to eat everyday at McDonald and weight 500 Lb. truth of the matter is that there is an obesity problem (and he is a cover model for it... talking about SI models), particularly for children. This means that us taxpayers will have to foot the bill for these future obese, disabled people! Where is Mr. Limbaugh fiscal responsibility? Mrs. Obama is doing a most laudable thing in trying to focus the attention to this problem and trying to be the solution. How ignorant for this man to say that she didn't follow her own advise, she was skiing and those calories can easily burned. on top of that much else of what she ate were healthy calories. What a disservice for this country to have this people blatering on things that they have no clue about.

This foolish (and fat!) man is so wrong!
Our beautiful first lady's menu choice is an excellent example to others. Just read the salad and vegetable choices – they are perfect choices! The idea of a balanced diet is to enjoy reasonable amounts of those things that we love (the short ribs), balanced with other delicious foods that our bodies need (the salad, kale, etc.).
As for Mrs. Obama's looks – she is exceedingly beautiful and fit. I'm proud that she is our first lady.

Rush Limbaugh is very unprofessional. He says many inapprpriate things and I cannot believe he gets paid so much. It is one thing to have a different opinion, but it another thing to be rude and insulting. He is not a poster child for good looks. Being healthy does not mean one cannot enjoy themselves on occasion. This man represents negativity at it's highest levels. He does not care about anyone but himself. How can he call himself this great American. He is a major embarrasment to this Country and only stirs up debates that make the problems in America worse.

Rush, for you to be calling anyone out on their eating habits shows exactly what a petty hypocrite you are.

Please carry on. I pray one day your audience grows a self-thinking brain (but I don't expect that will ever happen).

  8. Limbaugh is an IDIOT

It is hard to believe these right-wing NUTs Limbaugh, Palin, Bachmann and their hateful & bigoted ilks! Because you advocate healthy eating habits for kids does not mean you can't eat some ribs long as it's done in moderation with some salads to go with it!

I'll take Michelle Obama's waistline anytime anyday....over Rush Limbaugh's, who is one pork-chop away from a massive HEART ATTACK!....

I'm dissapointed in America that people are actually listening to the likes of Limbaugh, Palin, Bachmann...and for this to even make it news is downright despicable....wonder why the news media are not calling out these idiots for their sexist remarks!

Oh, I forgot...its okay for Palin to attack you for using the word "retard" because she has a child that's an imbecile?!!!!!

I'm certain I'd be appalled at Michelle Obama's politics as I am at her husband's, but ad hominem attacks on her dietary preferences are entirely inappropriate.

Somebody Alex Rodriguez might date? Someone on the cover of Sports Illustrated? That is totally disrespectful even for you Limpballs.
The First Lady is in great shape for someone in her late 40's. She's also married to our President so the Rodriguez thing was sooo out of line. We all know that you're used to dealing and associating with the Trailer Trash Tramps like Bat$hit and Palin, and you'd therefore have no idea how to deal with polite society and classy women, but you have enough money to buy yourself some social graces and etiquette if only via an instructor.

Have you seen YOUR PHYSIQUE lately? You're wholly unfamiliar with th words discipline and moderation but have the gall to point fingers at others. Typical for a gutter rat like you.
YOU SHOULD be eating roots, tree bark, and pine nuts WITHOUT waiting to be told. Or are you not man enough and adult enough to voluntarily put the fork down, flush the pills down the toilet, and step away from the little boys you like to indulge in? Does the GOVERNMENT have to tell idiots like you how to treat your own bodies?

You're a weak and spineless fat boy Limpballs.
I figure that I'd fill you in on what the FLOTUS will not deign to tell you. You're an insignificant parasite not worthy of her time nor her acknowledgment. But you have her supporters to contend with, and I'm one of them.

That meal sounds ok to me. I guess no one ever told Ruch about the 80/20 rule, where you can enjoy something not so good in moderation. Moderation: something Rush has never been closely acquainted with, since he's been obese, a drug addict, and an ideologue who cannot find anything positive in people he disagrees with. That would require self-control and honesty with one's self, and since he's still laboring under the illusion he actually has anything positive to contribute, we know that's a lost cause. Lighten up, Rush: oh, thats right, you can't do that without the drugs.....what do you mean, I can't make a fat comment about a conservative since that's hurtful?

Breastfeeding = eating bark? Mrs. Rush must have an interesting rack.

How many calories per hillbilly heroine pill?

As chunky as pill popping-hate-filled Limbaugh is, does he really want to attack the First Lady's physique? OH! He has to trash someone to feel important since he isn't about anything. Ooops!

Oh she is a hypocrite Mr. Limbaugh? What about your all those years you condemned illegal drugs and then admit to addiction to prescription medicine. Plus, be arrested for doctor shopping to find a doctor to supply those prescription drugs? Oh, yes you plea dealed out with your expensive lawyer so since you took a plea deal you were never convicted and therefor aren't guilty.

Come on drug-addict – when did you last look in a mirror?

First Lady Obama is very well fit, and the envy of many - put it where the sun does not shine Limbaugh!

  19. Consider This...

WOW! Look in the mirror Rush. But it is obvious that you don't follow proper dietary guidelines.
For starters you don't seem to be able to comprehend PLAIN ENGLISH.
Our First Lady never said you could never "splurge". Seriously, can't you even read. Try it sometime, it broadens the mind.
Futhermore regarding the following statement you made "I'm trying to say that our first lady does not project the image of women that you might see on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue or of a woman Alex Rodriguez might date every six months or what have you," Limbaugh also said Monday. You are seriously stupid. Sports Illistrated does not convey reality. 99.99% of women do not project that image either. You are one seriously evil man in love with spreading hate.

I'm not a fan of the Obama administration, but this is offensive. If you have a problem with the President's policy, so be it, make a fuss. Attacking his family is uncalled for and ignorant. It's time to stop letting the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and the like appear as the face of the Republican party. They do not speak for me!

I doubt Michelle Obama eats ribs everyday. What? Can't she splurge once in a while?. Moderation is key.

Must be a slow news day for the pill popper.

Hmm. My guess is that Palin and Limbaugh and the rest are so scared at the success the president is having the they have to take shots at his wife instead. Gutless wonders, as alwas.

What's sad here is not the verbal attacks against a good cause. What's sad is that CNN thinks opinions from persons such as this actually matter.
