Limbaugh takes aim at Michelle Obama's waistline

Washington (CNN) - Michelle Obama is taking heat from talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh after a report in the Vail Daily that she consumed a not-so-healthy-meal of ribs for dinner while on a recent visit to the Colorado resort, the latest example of conservative angst directed at the first lady's healthy-eating initiative.

"The problem is, and dare I say this, it doesn't look like Michelle Obama follows her own nutritionary, dietary advice," Limbaugh said Monday on his radio program. "And then we hear that she's out eating ribs at 1,500 calories a serving with 141 grams of fat per serving."

"She is a hypocrite," Limbaugh continued. "Leaders are supposed to be leaders. If we are supposed to go out and eat nothing, if we are supposed to eat roots, berries, and tree bark, show us how."

The Vail Daily reported Sunday Mrs. Obama dined at the restaurant Kelly Liken in Vail Village, ordering "a pickled pumpkin salad with arugula and a braised ancho-chile short rib with hominy wild mushrooms and sautéed kale." The first family, minus the president, went to Colorado for a long weekend of skiing.

"I'm trying to say that our first lady does not project the image of women that you might see on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue or of a woman Alex Rodriguez might date every six months or what have you," Limbaugh also said Monday.

Limbaugh's comments cap off a week of jabs directed at the first lady over her campaign to fight childhood obesity, taking flak from Rep. Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin, among others, for encouraging mothers to breast feed their children as a way to keep obesity levels down.

Mrs. Obama was also the subject of a controversial cartoon last week on conservative journalist Andrew Breitbart's website, in which an over-weight depiction of the first lady is shown telling her husband, "Shut up and pass the bacon!"

A website devoted to Mrs. Obama's anti-obesity effort lays out how the waistlines of American children have been growing at alarming rates over the last 30 years.

"The physical and emotional health of an entire generation and the economic health and security of our nation is at stake," Mrs. Obama is quoted as saying on the site.

For someone as overweight as Rush Limbaugh he is the last one who should count other peoples calories.
If he looked half as good as Michelle Obama does or was half as intelligent, maybe he would have some credibility.
He's just another republician looking for something nasty to say .

When a drug addict, arrested and set free is allowed to make judgment on any person, especially the first lady of the nation, it's time for the people to stand and say to the rest that they have had enough. This over paid, under worked, lazy good for nothing blow hard, has made a disgrace of the air waves, and a laughing stock of the nation. What's really sad is the fact that the news media in the country is more than happy to place whatever this pig says in the news, as if he were to be listened to like a mesiah. When will the good people stand up and demand that this be stopped? If this is what it means to be a good republican, then to hell with the entire republican party.

PhilipJames: So do you think Nancy Reagan and her "Just Say No" campaign was government interference in people's lives?

Mrs. Obama promoting healthy eating and lifestyle is NOT the "government pushing" anything. And she doesn't "push restrictions" on what people eat; she's merely restating what any health professional and the vast majority of parents and teachers are already saying.

No liberal bias; just an ability to think objectively.

And this tub of lard should talk? What a totally obnoxious jerk Limpbag is. A poorer excuse for a human being never existed. And I use the term "human being" loosely when referring to Rush Limpbag. Wish I could get paid millions of dollars a year just to criticize and insult people and not add anything productive to a discussion. How about it Clear Channel? Give me a few bucks and I'll give him a run for his money! He is such a hateful freak. Who still listens to this F.A.? All he does is stoke the fires of anger and hatred and further divide this country. Just because our President and his wife are African-American, the ultra right-wing conservative nutjobs think they can verbally assault them all they want and no one cares. Pure hatred and bigotry on the right ever since Obama got nominated for President. Even when he was just a candidate Limpbag tried everything possible to get him to lose the nomination, and now that Obama is President, Limpbag wants him to fail. Ain't gonna happen!

He was taking a shot at her hypocrisy. She has no business telling the rest of us what to eat when she doesn't even follow her own rules. She's thick in the middle and no one would care if SHE wasn't the one making such a big deal about obesity. Truth sucks, huh?

The problem: It's not that michele wan'ts to fght chilhood obesity – no , it's that she want's (and is getting) LAWS,RULES and REGULATIONS passed to FORCE the american people to comply with her recommendations .

All rush is pointing out is that she's a an " all talk blow-hard" just her husband...

Like obama TOLD us – "we" are going to have to make do with less.... maybe put off that vacation." He also told us how much he "feels our pain" in this miserable economy. I believe that was during michele's Spain vacation.... possibly one of the Hawaiin vacations – I forget.

Did Rush criticize Nancy Reagan and her "Just Say No to Drugs" campaign?

Of course not; he's a drug addict and so just kept mum on the whole subject.

Limbaugh and co. are the hypocrites! First Lady Michelle Obama has already stated that people who REGULARLY eat healthily can have a "treat" from time to time – as does Weight Watchers. Michelle Obama has never suggested that people only eat celery sticks on Thanksgiving Day. As usual the REAL hypocrites like Limbaugh and his ilk TRY to put words in other peoples' mouths and then tear down their own stupid straw man. Ironically for Rush, the First Lady looks healthy and great in her picture right beside his fat head. Rush thinks now that he's lost some weight he can weigh in on people who ALWAYS had a healthy weight ( like Michelle). Rush Limbaugh is STILL a big fat idiot – in "spirit" if nothing else!

Rush Limbaugh is an addict: Food, oxy, the sound of his own voice, money.

Only an equally pathetic person would listen to him and believe any of the drivel he spews.

@PhilipJames – Getting a tax deduction on a breast pump is hardly pushing restrictions on choice. If you choose not to breast feed, that's your decision. If you choose to, you get a deduction on equipment. Big deal. There are tons of things you can get tax deductions for. Should we get rid of all deductions because that means the government is making choices for you?

Interesting we have a fat First Lady and she lectures us on eating correctly YET eats high calorie high fat food and feeds that to her daughters. She is a hypocrite.

All I can say is obamas wife needs to stay away from our grocery lists and dinner tables. We in America can decide what we want to buy at the grocery store and what we want to put on our dinner tables. The obamas motto "do as i say , not as i do".

I fully accept that Rush doesn't believe half of what he spews, he does it for the money. I also accept and believe any intelligent person understands that Rush's diatribes against any person, any thing remotely connected to the established Democratic party is part of Rush's job description; make the political right and extreme right feel better about themselves by demonizing anything Democratic/democratic. ( Take your pick! ) So, Rush doesn't bother me.

What does bother me is the mass of people that does believe at least half of what Rush says. They represent that mass of people that feeds on his every word. There is no middle ground with these people, and this represents Rush's economic garden; he cultivates it.

His comments on Ms. Obama are absurd. I am a baby boomer, 5' 10", 160 pounds, I bicycle (road) 80 -100 miles each week and run 20 -25 miles each week. I'm off my blood pressure and cholesterol medicines. Veggies, proteins and complex carbohydrates are big in my life. My favorite meal is breakfast, a big bowl of oatmeal with flax seed. But, two times a month I pig out with my friends. I fire up my Char Grill and smoke some of the best pork and beef humanly possible, along with my private recipe for mac n cheese. I know how to balance things. The only visuals I have of Ms. Obama says, she does too. Rush can't spell balance, it's all about Rush!

One last thing, and oh so apropos, the last visual I have of Rush is there is no way half his brain is tied behind his back, too long a trip.

Fatness is an issue near and dear to Rush's heart. He doesn't take her advice either. I wonder how the old pain killer addiction is going for him...

That fat slob would do well to look as trim as the First Lady. The right wing nuts seem to think they're getting no where criticizing the president, now they're starting on the First Lady-shameful.
