White House working to avoid government shutdown

Washington (CNN) - Congress may be taking advantage of a week long vacation outside the beltway, but back in Washington there is vigorous debate over the prospect of a federal government shutdown.

Amid plenty of finger pointing among lawmakers, the White House is working hard to stave off what the president himself said would be ‘destabilizing’ to U.S economic recovery.

If Obummie thinks that the budget concerns will cause destabilizing America why did he propose such a stupid budget? Obummie needs to get in the real world. I believe the fool is out to ruin the country and make everyone dependent on his socialist agenda. The repubs will finance interest payments and critical services to keep the government rolling. Other than that, Obummie will have to agree to the cuts or piss off !!!!!!!

    As if they cared!
That is precisely their goal Mr. President, to destabilize then seize and control.

America's most dangerous enemies don't even have the decency to wear sheets anymore, or to act through intermediaries, or to put on the pretense of bipartisanship. They are your Y2K RethugliKKKlans. And they've gone over the deep end with greed, quest for power, and hatred.

    God be with us.

Republicans want a government shutdown precisely to put a halt to the economic recovery. From their point of view, they can't put anymore "W's" in the President's column. They've said it themselves that they want our President to fail.

Whatever happens, I certainly hope the President doesn't given in to the Republicans hissy fits. What are they trying to get this time, permanent extra bonus tax cuts for billionaires and a complete dismantling of any kind of regulation for businesses. Enough, already.

Anyone else know that hidden deep inside the Governor of Wisconsin's 144 page bill is a plan to sell off public utilities. I'm seeing the Koch brothers fingers all over this thing. And why isn't the "news media" reporting this, along with the fact that he refused the unions' attempts to give him the financial cover to help the deficit in return for keeping collective bargaining. I smell a rat. We need to take our country back. The tea partiers just have the "who from" wrong. It's not the black guy in the white house, it's the corporations that are pretty much running the show right now. Wake up people.

You mean the White House is and has been busy trying to scare people into thinking the GOP wants a government shutdown. If Obama would actually step up to the plate and lower spending insteat of constantly misleading Amernicans it might help but we know he has to support his leg breakers in the union.
