Rahm Emanuel wins Chicago mayoral vote

Update: President Obama and Rahm Emanuel spoke by telephone Tuesday night after the election results were known and before Emanuel spoke, an Emanuel campaign aide confirms to CNN.

Chicago (CNN) - Rahm Emanuel, the former chief of staff to President Barack Obama, won the Chicago mayoral election over five other challengers Tuesday, topping the 50% threshold to avoid a runoff vote.

With almost 75% of the vote counted, Emanuel had almost 55% of the vote, far outdistancing his rivals.

Well some things never change. It's comforting to know in these changing times that Chicago's legacy of dirty rotten politics is still alive and kicking. What a joke. Is anyone surprised that Rahm Emanuel won? Of course he was going to win. He wasn't a citizen of Chicago in the last two years and yet they let him run as Mayor anyway. I guess it's still all about money and who you know. If you grease the right palms in City Hall you can buy yourself an office. It makes me sick!

Another union coddling democrat liberal ready to bust Chicago and force more people to move to the relatively honest government in the suburbs. Where will slimy democratic legislators go when Illinois goes broke from the SEIU theft and has to shut down its government? Notice all of these state legislators who don't want to deal with reality and do their jobs hide out in Illinois? It must be like the "Hole in the Wall" for corrupt, union toady state legislators from Wisconsin and Indiana.
