Reid takes on Nevada brothels

(CNN) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is taking aim at the world's oldest profession, calling for an end to legal prostitution in his home state of Nevada.

Addressing state legislators Tuesday in Carson City, the Democrat said it was time for an "adult conversation" on a topic that often spurs as much awkward laughter as it does serious debate. He warned the state's Wild West tradition has become an impediment to economic growth, causing companies to think twice before relocating there.

Come on Harry! You're the biggest whore in Washington DC! Bought and paid for by the unions, trial lawyers, abortion supporters, etc. At least the people in Nevada are up front about it, UNLIKE YOU.

Please don't shutdown "The Bunny Ranch" Harry...lol. Just kidding. I find it appauling that prostitution is legal when their are petty crimes that are committed across this country that people are serving time for.

Wow he is out of touch. Companies relocate there because of no inventory tax. They are still going to come to Nevada wether the bunny ranch is here or not! REID Is stupid and I am sadden that Nevada re-elected him-perhaps these liberal who frequent this establishments will think twice before electing Reid again.

Living in Nevada, I think Brothels are the way to go. You do not see prostitues on every corner spreading disease. In my opinion all states should have regulated brothels. Sure would clean up the streets in more ways than one.

Wow, I'm impressed, good for you Harry Reid. Hopefully, many of the teenage girls I've seen on TV in prostitution will have the chance to go to technical school or college and learn a career.

    Give me a break!
A bigger testament to your Wild, Wild West image, and the supposed backwardness of your state is the political existence of Sharon Angle! Eradicate that problem and your state ranking will go up 10 spots!
Legalized prostitution sets you apart from the other 49 that haven't quite grown the gutsy cojones to make it legal AND safer themselves.

The "boys" need a place where they can hang loose and unwind so to speak, I say! Let it be Nevada there's no other choice unless they travel overseas. Don't be a Puritanical phony Reid.

Reid is 100% wrong! Prostitution will never go away, it will simply go out into the streets and these women will be enslaved and abused by pimps. I feel sorry for these women that cannot find another way to support themslves. Taxes are collected instead of paying pimps!! Legalize prostitution in every state!! Same for marijuana!! It won't go away! Tax it, and help reduce our deficits!!

This seems like a publicity stunt to me – the number of licensed Nevada brothels is very small (maybe 40 or so) and most of them are tiny. The total number of prostitutes working in them is very, very few compared to the number working illegally in a city like Las Vegas. Legal, licensed, brothels are probably better for both workers and customers than the "street" vairety. I don't know much about legal brothels, but I'll bet you won't find underage runaways or imported sex slaves working there. Society's attempt to solve problems by driving them underground (prohibition, war on drugs, etc.) have never worked, and we should learn from this experience.

If Harry Reid demands legal prostitution in Nevada, stop, then Harry Reid need demand the states stop legally kidnapping our children to foster care to receive federal adoption incentives, keeping the "businesses" alive on the backs of those children, prioritizing one case in the media to warrant the corrupt separation of millions of innocent families.

Harry is right to keep any more prostitutes from doing business in Nevada. He is already the whore in the state and wants to keep it that way.

Harry Raid should get real. Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world!!!! Mayor Goodman (Las Vegas) wants to create
An "Adult Zone" in Las Vegas. Harry just can't bring companies to Nevada or create jobs so he is blaming the poor "Wooking Girl". Where did Harry get over $100 million and never was paid more than $250,000 in one year!!!!!!
Maybe he should share his investment plan......................

I think its not a good idea to get rid of the legal brothels. From a Canadians point of view. When you come to Vancouver the streets are full of prostitutes and pimps. Keeping it in a safe place makes it safer not only for the women, but for the public as well. You will never get rid of prostitution, but you can make it safer by getting rid of the pimps.

Maybe Reid should pay attention to the job he was elected to and let the state take care of itself. This is typical of a Democrat to muddle the issue. He, Pelosi and Obama have run this country on to the reef and he is concerned about a couple of Cat Houses out in the desert, employing tax paying voters. WHAT A TOOL!!!

Ah, yes. Another Senator willing to go the extra mile to bring more jobs to America. What on EARTH is happening to America? Abortion, contraceptives, family values, and, now . . . what . . . prostitution rights? None of this matters diddly to those unable to find work. You want adult conversation, Reid? Then I suggest you and your congressional cohorts start working FOR the people and willingly give up YOUR salary and benefits . . . in the same manner so many millions of us are being told we must do . . . all wrapped up in the American flag (and all) as this GOPer hate talk has become.

Reid, you're a complete moron. What 2 consenting adults do – provided that no one is harmed – is no one's business but their own and definitely not that of the government. That's your own arguement when it comes to gay rights, so this should be no different.

Can't wait to hear what all the "family values" "krischun nashun" conservative masters of the wombiverse have to say about this. They pretty much can't pick a side here without being extremely hypocritical...although that usually doesn't stop them anyway.
