Washington (CNN) - Newt Gingrich affirmed in a radio interview Thursday that he plans to take his first official step toward a presidential bid later in the day after a meeting with Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal.
"Callista and I are prepared to see if there are enough folks who want to see if we can get this country back on the right track," Gingrich told Georgia radio host Martha Zoller.
The former House Speaker said he plans to launch a website to accompany the presidential exploratory phase he is expected to announce.
The website: NewtExplore2012.com
Gingrich said the site will go live at some point Thursday afternoon.
The headline was completely misleading. After reading it, I assumed he was getting married, again!
Mr Gingrich cannot win the GOP nomination. He has too much baggage.
Very good news for Democrats. I'm all for it.
Glad to see that Gingrich is going to waste a lot of his money, have America become re-aquainted with some of the rotten things he's done, and draw the spotlight from Republican candidates who might actually have a chance of winning. What'ever's bad for the Republicans is good for the country, so... go, Newt, go! You'll never be president, but we'll all have a ball watching you fail. 😀
ya...you have a chance
It is either humor or hubris that is gonna haunt us, when he announced what his intentions are today. He thinks he can haul the nation on the right tract. His hoity-toity talk turns us on.
Newt, take a break from fantasy land and use your time and money to explore finding a nice gated retirement community where you take long walks with your dog and indulge in delusions about all the good you did for America and its people.
Newt, why not go explore Alaska with your fellow idiot friend Palin and leave the rest of us alone.
Gingrich was a successful politician in his day. Some can even claim he was a genius. That being said, he is a political dinosaur. Time has passed him by. Like McCain, who was and in many ways, still is a dynamic politician, their ideas and ability to lead the new young lions are suspect. It time to pass the torch to a new generation of politician, twice removed from the generation of Newt and John.
I just love the pompous self-righteous way he phrases it...because obviously the only possible reason you might not be excited about Gingrich is that you DON'T want the country back on track. What a waste of considerable space he is.
Sorry...too fat and too ugly to be Prez. That's just how it works.
Thank you Newt... We surely think you can get the country on the right track after your disastrous term in the congress. Oh... BTW, were you not the chief going after Clinton when you were having affairs in your own backyard? Wioth your public reputation and private scandals I think you are trying to reach for something more than you are capable or deserving.... why don't you continuing ranting and raving to your tea party dudes.
Well if you do win the nomination...it won't be surprising that the republicans elect you... given Vittier is a true family values champion (not to mention your other cohorts in the republican party) .. then I can't wait to see you skewered.... Let the games begin. But my prediction ....you will drop out of the race by t(h)anksgiving
Great...gives CNN something to DRILL AND DRILL AND DRILL about for months to come! til November 2012!!!!
And ya...let me pull out my pen to mark "newt for prez" NOT!!!! i wouldn't vote for this bafoon if my life depended on it! or any republican candidate
NO NO and NO
Let's see...he shut down the government, treated his first two wives like trash, and has hired a bunch of otherwise decent writers to churn out bad historical novels under his name. He's also a lying hypocrite and the most thoroughly unpleasant politician since Nixon.
And he seriously thinks he can be President? BWAHAHAHAHAAHAH!!!!!!!!
Gingrich does not have the moral cojones to be my president.
He WILL NOT get my vote.
Really? Newt?
I guess this is the age of hypocrisy.
This egomaniac will newer make it.
This guy with all his "family values" has the morality of a snake. He'll probablly get the GOP nod though because they do love their hypocrites..
Thanks Newtie – that will just about put Obama over the top. We remember what you were like in the 90's, hypocrite.
you had your chance, stay in the yard
Whenlity, Newt grades an "F". If Bill Clinton is said to not possess proper moarals to be president, how do temr a man who has chaeted on his first 2 wives? He's on wife #3. I wonder if he's started looking? Common you right wingers. If you have principals, you cannot condemn one man and espouse another simply because he belongs to your party. That makes you no better than the democrats. You would truely be the party of "Do as we say, not as we do".
No way in He!! Newt – we have not forgotten who you really are. Go ahead and run. It will be fun to watch them tear you apart!
You're kidding! Does this mean he is getting ready to dump wife #3 or is it #4?
Not presidential material. A southern ideologue who would set the country back 60 years.
