'Risky' for Palin to wait on 2012 bid, Iowa GOP chair says

Washington (CNN) - Sarah Palin's advisers have long suggested that the former Alaska governor can afford to wait longer than other potential presidential candidates to enter the 2012 Republican primary race - possibly as late as the fall - thanks to her star power and built-in following among some grassroots conservatives.

But the head of the Iowa Republican Party told reporters Thursday that such a game plan could prove "risky" in his state, which traditionally hosts the first contest of presidential nomination fight.

"History would suggest that's a very risky strategy related to the Iowa caucuses," Iowa GOP chairman Matthew Strawn said during a sit-down with reporters at Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington. "The one thing that Iowans don't want to be is taken for granted."

While other potential GOP contenders have started dialing state lawmakers, reaching out key activists and making staff hires in the Hawkeye State, Palin has been largely silent in the state since headlining the state GOP's annual Reagan Dinner last September.

"There is an expectation that you're going to get the opportunity to ask these candidates the tough questions, face-to-face, whether it's in a town hall or a coffee shop or at our farm co-ops," Strawn said. "I don't see that changing this cycle. If you want the votes of the Iowa caucus goers, you need to be in Iowa asking for then and giving Iowans the opportunity to ask you the tough questions."

I have said this since the day after the elections. SHE IS NOT GOING TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT because she knows SHE WOULD NEVER WIN. It's about one thing with this Jezebel – money, money and more money.

It's not risky because she's not going to run. She's smart enough to know that she's too stupid to be President!

Why does this brain-dead bimbo keep alive her delusional dream of being president? Can't this ignorant broad see that she does not have the following, even in her own party of flat-earthers?

Palin has no intent on running. Playing the game she's playing now is too lucrative for her. Her only plan is to milk the Tea Party and GOP for every buck she can get out of them before they catch on to her, which will be at the time of the 2012 election. After that, her relevance will be gone; relevance that existed only in the eyes of those who had hoped she would run.

She is becoming more and more irrelavent with the public. People are getting tired of her rediculous comments. She is very devisive will cause more harm than good for the republican party. While some may say she is better than what we have are completely clueless. If you want to unite this country, she is not the answer. Besides, she is a quitter and her intelligence is highly questionable.

It is totally irrevelent how SP announces......those of us who are true conservatives (which are 48% of registered voters will vote for her regardless.....and the left wing media and all Liberals will attack and slander trying to demean her.....we all know this, but she will still come out the WINNER and that is what scares the h_ _ _ out of you.....and you will continue to go nuts when someone says anything negative about Michell or Obambi himself!

  13. Seriously?

She doesn't have any chance of winning and I don't think she really wants to run. The job doesn't pay enough. She only wants to stay in the spotlight. Why else would she make remakably stupid comments all the time. She makes inflammatory statements just because she knows it will be covered. If she actually came out with the truth and said, "I'm not interested. I want to earn more money." No one would cover her anymore.

BTW – has anyone ever quit the job of POTUS? If that's not an optioin, this job isn't for Palin. She doesn't finish anything.

Ms. Palin needs to read the blogs regarding her bid for the presidency.... Not too many kind words and they are not on the main stream media channels. Can't comment on Fox News........ never any stores about her......... wonder why?

I cannot believe people would still consider her as President, it is beyond me, here you have someone who " QUIT ", and went for the money, books, tours, reality series, made millions, and says she did it for us. Yeah real American, GREED,GREED GREED!. Hey people pull your heads out of your A--.

Does anyone still seriously think the Quitter on Twitter has any intention of running? Her whole "might run" schtick just helps keep her in the limelight so she can make money as a speaker and peddling her light-weight books. She'll string her "decision" out as long as possible, then take a pass. What kind of serious candidate would quit her job as governor half-way through? Americans (aside from her delusional, extremist fans) don't like quitters.

Oh come on! Palin is NEVER going to run for president. She couldn't even handle being governor of a state with a population smaller than thousands of cities in the lower 48. Besides, Palin would never participate in political debates where she wasn't allowed to pre-screen the questions, nor would she allow herself to be humiliated again by the press. Of course, the more she acts like she might be a candidate, the more she stays in the spotlight and can justify her outrageous speaking fees. Once she announces that she will not be running, she will gradually fade into the obscurity she so richly deserves.

Why would Palin run when the majority of the Country and 100% of the media hate her and her family guts and will not stop to run them in the ground and so on? If she loves her family she should stay in Alaska. ~ I'm a Conservative

She can wait until 2013 to run in 2012. It won't matter. I cannot imagine GOP voters, unless they are all delusional paranoid wackos, voting for this trailer trash, quitter from Alaska. Currently the GOP has no good candidates for president other than those like Daniels, Christie and Jeb Bush who might be OK but don't want to do it.

I really don't see what the risk is when she isn't even going to come close to winning the nomination anyway. This woman already had her 15 minutes of infamy and her disapproval rating is so high there is no turning back now.

I thnk the 'question' part of this is going to be problem unless the question is "what's wrong with Obama". even then the answer wouldn't be coherent, but at least her talking points (such as they are) would be prepared.
