Bachmann to raise money in South Carolina

Washington (CNN) - Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann has scheduled an April fundraiser in the early presidential primary state of South Carolina as she considers a possible 2012 White House bid.

Bluffton-area business owner Kimberly Tatro told CNN Thursday that she is opening up her home for Bachmann and other supporters on the evening of Friday, April 15 for a fundraiser benefiting the Republican congresswoman's campaign committee.

Money from Bachmann's congressional account could be transferred to a presidential fund if she decides to seek the GOP presidential nomination. Bachmann had nearly $2 million on hand at the close of 2010.

Bachmann has two more events scheduled in the South Carolina low country the following day: an appearance at a Bluffton Tea Party rally Saturday morning, followed by what's being billed as a "nonpartisan" voter registration event with state Sen. Tom Davis, one of Gov. Nikki Haley's allies in the state legislature.

Though Bachmann and Davis are Republicans, Tatro said the voter registration event "is not about party."

"It's about being an American," she said. "It's about getting people registered. I truly believe that when Michele Bachmann speaks, she speaks as an American. She is straight shooter. She knows what she's doing."

The trip will be Bachmann's second to South Carolina this year. She has recently visited Iowa and will be in New Hampshire this weekend.

UPDATE: The original version of this story incorrectly stated that tax day is April 15. The due date for filing taxes in 2011 has been extended to April 18.

any idiot who gives this delusional woman any of their money, deserves what they will get for it........absolutely nothing but a blow pop stamp on their forehead.

I have a question, how can an politician write a book, then their party buys all the copies to give out to campaign contributors, then that politician receive revenue from the book sale, not be money laundering with contributions?

To be fair, "Tax Day" is April 18 this year. April 16 is Emancipation Day in DC and since that is on Saturday, the holiday is recognized on April 15, thus pushing the tax deadline to April 18.

Bachmann is a hate and fear monger. Her statements are usually outright lies and her "facts" show her ignorance of reality. She knows nothing about the Constitution, our American history yet is screaming wrong information about both constantly. She appeals to the equally ignorant and uneducated. She is not intelligent and does not represent the values of America. She spreads hate, fear, racism, and actually works to destroy the rights and lives of the People. Republicans are trying to destroy the middle class, make it harder to register to vote, harder to vote, make nasty personal attacks on our President who has saved this country from Republican-caused financial disaster, and now is back to racial fear mongering over Muslims. Republicans are shameful and do NOT represent America. They only represent their own best political interests, the best interests of the wealthy, and do whatever the corrupt Koch brothers tell them to do so corporations get all the money and benefits the American People should be getting instead. Republicans hate the PEOPLE and are NOT doing anything to help you. They are destroying your life and their base is too ignornat to realize they are being foolled, lied to, and being hurt by these Republican traitors. Bachmann is a lunatic. Run the other way.

"How do I help get this buffoon the nomination? Nothing would make Obama's reelection easier"

Go register as a Republican, vote in their primary and then vote for Obama. Why's essentially what SC conservatives did with their states' open primary system in order to get that whackjob Alvin Green the Dem nomination for governor.

Can't even get this years tax day right. When does she find time to do her job? I believe it was something to do with an elected position to serve the people that elected her. And, yes I hope she runs too. It will be so much fun to watch her make an ass out of herself. Even more than she already does.......oh, Sarah, please run with her. Double the fun.

This arrogant little bimbo was elected to represent her state, not to run for president. That doesn't disgust me as much as the multitudes of idiots that will enthusiastically enable her to run for president.

Republicans have begun to negate the sum total of all human knowlege.

I can't believe how stupid this country has become............

backman wouldnt understand logic if it smack her over the head, this woman is 1/2 emotion and the next half ideologic. how will this country survive and exist if some miracle happens and she's the next president of the United States. i shiver to think about that possibility. she would just turn over back ward and let the corporations run this country, that why they are pulling out all the stops from now, "mainly Unions" that will impede them pushing the country into a third world status where only the filthy rich and poor resides. the things that scares me this scenario is very possible given the relitively ease on how easy it is to fool the american people, propoganda tactics, even when they know they are given up their own interest. fear mungering, intollerance and lies usually prevail, check out faux news.

Isn't she supposed to be a legislator in Minnesota? Did her constituents elect her to troup around the country on their dime to push her nutjob agenda? Glad Minnesota has so much money it can afford to pay her salary while she's doing nothing for the state.

Let me get this straight, the people of Minnesota voted this person into office, so she can travel around the United Stated to further the agenda of people in other states? Seems like you got fooled doesn't it? What does she do for Minnesota exactly?
