Palin: Wisconsin union bosses 'acting like thugs'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin once again sounded off on the Wisconsin budget debate, calling on union supporters to tone down the rhetoric.

The former Alaska governor told Fox News' Sean Hannity union bosses are "acting like thugs" and it is their responsibility to "turn down the rhetoric and start getting truth out there so that nobody gets hurt."

"They are leading some of their good members down a road that will result in, unfortunately, somebody getting hurt if you believe the death threats that are being received by those who just happen to support amending some collective bargaining privileges of state unions," Palin said Thursday.

Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald received two death threats via e-mail, according to a spokesman for the senator.

After weeks of demonstrations in Madison, Wisconsin over collective bargaining rights of public sector union workers, state lawmakers passed an amended version of a bill Thursday that would limit the bargaining rights of most state workers.

In a February Facebook post, Palin encouraged union workers to stand up to their bosses.

"At the end of the day, they're not fighting for your pension or health care plan or even for the sustainability of Wisconsin's education budget," Palin wrote. "They're fighting to protect their own powerful privileges and their own political clout."

    Sarah, darling, the only thugs in this whole mess are the GOP elected officials in Wisconsin whose sole task is to destroy the unions to placate their masters – big business. Are all unions bad? No, but some are and none of them is involved in this dust-up.

    Do your history, Caribou Barbie, the unions helped protect the working man by providing fair wages, fair work hours, medical coverage and, in turn, helped grow the middle class. 61% of the skilled workforce in this country was union when Reagan took office. Today it is less that 10%, and the middle class is shrinking at an alarming rate while the ranks of the lower middle class and poor are rising. They are inextricably linked, Alaska Princess......

    I would also invite all the enlightened on the Right to do the history and see the first time state senators bolted their state to prevent a vote – give ya a clue, they were members of the GOP, and they did it numerous times. So, before you go blaming wrongly, yet again, the other side, do the research.

    Yes, please, let's tone down the rhetoric so nobody gets hurt. Oh wait, wasn't it your rhetoric that got a senator shot? How about we tone the hypocrisy instead?

    Atta girl, Sarah. Feed off of the hate of the left wing. It makes you strong... gives you focus. And creates a hell of a distraction to boot.

    Where is Obama? Didn't he say EVRYONE needs to tone down the rhetoric. Now we know what he really meant. He meant, "shut up unless you are a democrat".
    Pathetic that Palin has to be the one calling for civility. Pathetic that these thugs are way worse than the Tea Party was and CNN gives them a pass.

    Oh please give me a break. What happend to the rights of the people to protest and voice their opinions? This isn't Cuba, or Libya, or Saudi Arabia. All of a sudden she's concerned about someone getting hurt. Because the unions disagree with what the Wisconsin Republicans in office have done the unions are thugs. Wow really? Every group has "it's fringe element", get over it Palin. Isn't that what's been said about the Tea Party?

    Well damn said, Sarah.
    "Union thugs" is on the money.
    They could care less about
    what the voters of Wisconsin
    want. And just how many of those
    protesters are even from Wisconsin ?
    Not many !
    And how many democratic legislators
    have been assaulted by the MAJORITY
    of anti-protesters ? Not one !

    It takes a "thug" to know one. What an irrelevant moron Sarah is – she's the gift that can't stop giving. It's not unions – it's the American people standing up for what they want. Good luck in 2012.

    LOL turn down the rhetoric indeed. If you can't see this hypocritical, backwards logic, selfish and soulless woman for what she is, you are blind. She should turn down the rhetoric. Funny how right-wing bible lovers are the first to go "teachers, cops and firefighters are great, real america, blah blah blah" and as soon as they want pay that would pull them above the poverty line, they get chastises with this Union rhetoric crap. Do you like not working 17 hour days
    for 2 dollars a week? Thank unions.

    Of all people, Sarah Palin has no place to tell anyone to turn down the rhetoric and stop death threats. You remember the whole "Don't retreat, reload" slogan with crosshairs on politcal figures? She is the biggest hypocrite of them all.

  24. Tired of the nonsense

    First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a communist;
    Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a socialist;
    Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a trade unionist;
    Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out – because I was not a Jew;
    Then they came for me – and there was no one left to speak out for me.

    And that describes people like Palin and the GOP. They come.

  25. Palin AFool

    Sarah Palin is a fool and needs to stay home in Alaska. She is non educated and has made millions off her recent failure to be VP of the Nation. She is now attempting to play to the party lines for future leverage of support. Sarah is a disgrace to public service and has much in common with Scottie and Koch corporate as they both don't care about anyone except the mighty dollar.
