'I'm through,' Palin says

(CNN) - Sarah Palin says she's done.

Done with whining about the media, that is.

In an appearance on Fox News, where she serves as a contributor, Palin shrugged off a recent sexual slur directed her way from comedian Bill Maher, saying, "I'm through whining about a liberal press that holds particularly conservative women to a different standard, because it doesn't do any good to whine about it."

"Nobody ever promised life was going to be fair," Palin continued in what appeared to be a departure from her usual pattern of forcefully responding to critics, especially those in the media. "And politics really isn't fair, the scrutiny, the double standards, and all that. I'm dealing with it I guess in a different way than others who want to bring more light to it and demand that Bill Maher apologize."

The comments come a day after the traditionally-liberal National Organization for Women issued a statement condemning Maher for directing the slur toward Palin, saying, "Cut the crap! Stop degrading women with whom you disagree and/or don't like by using female body terms or other gender-associated slurs."

But Palin made clear she is none too welcome of newfound support from NOW, an organization that has long been critical of Palin and her stances on issues like abortion.

"I need NOW's defense like a fish needs a bicycle," the former Alaska governor said.

But she also vowed to be an advocate for other conservative women who come under attack.

"When it comes to other women, when it comes to my daughters…when somebody says something that's not true, I am not going to retreat on that. I'll reload and tell them what I think about them," she said.

Meanwhile, Palin says the door remains open to a possible presidential run in 2012, though quickly tempered those comments by saying, "You don't need a title, you don't need an office to make a difference." Still, the Alaska Republican says she's tempted:

"I am tempted to because I am still wondering who is going to be out there with a servant's heart, willing to serve the American people for the right reason. Not for ego, not for special interests…I am waiting to see, who else is out there willing to do this."

The former vice presidential candidate also directed fire toward President Obama's recent dealings with the crisis in Libya, suggesting the president has not made his mission there clear.

"We better be in it to win it. 'Win it' means Qadhafi goes and America gets to get on out of there," she said.

"It's not America's role not to be out and about nation building and telling other countries how to live," Palin added.

The interview with FOX follows a two country trip abroad, during which she visited India and Israel.

NOW didnt really "defend" Palin, CNN conveniently LEFT OUT the complete NOW response which backhandedly attacked Palin right after "defending" her. NOW isnt interested in defending conservative women, just women that agree with NOW's politics.

"It's not America's role not to be out and about nation building and telling other countries how to live,"...You better tell that to every Republican President that has ever held office...Because that is what each and everyone did...

Directly from you're posting here Mr. Mooney and a BLATANT LIE:

"The comments come a day after the traditionally-liberal National Organization for Women issued a statement condemning Maher".

The FACTS are that they NEVER mentioned Maher, the SHOW or the network HBO at all in their "statement" and the huge majority of their "statement" was BASHING Conservatives for having the gall to be ticked off that a Conservative women was called a vile, vile name by this idiot and NOW said NOTHING until prompted too.

If this were a Liberal Democrat, you're network would have actually reported the story and it would have lead the evening news all over and NOW would have been calling for a boycott of HBO and Meaher to be fired.

The "games" liberal media types play are no more, to many other venues to get the truth.

Palin DID nothing wrong here and I respect her for her guts, doesn't make her my President, I just respect her.

Mr. Mooney, I have NONE for you.

This is just one more lie from Palin. She says sh's not going to whine about the media anymore ... and then spends the next 20 minutes, um, WHINING ABOUT THE MEDIA. And she even manages to work that little threat of "reload" in there. Is she still so breathtakingly stone-cold TONE-DEAF that she still has to use guns-and-ammo metaphors to appeal to her "base"? I hope she keeps whining! It'll keep planting nails in the lid of her political coffin.

Only wish she was actually done "talking" to the media. Why hasn't this person went away? She says...""I am tempted to because I am still wondering who is going to be out there with a servant's heart, willing to serve the American people for the right reason. Not for ego, not for special interests"

her heart sure wasn't with the people of alaska! her special interests wasn't completely finacial?? Come on...get real lady!

Speaking of degrading women. Is Palin standing up and speaking out about the Republicans trying to dismantle Planned Parenthood???? PP offers health check ups, aids testing, other health care, etc for poor women and by her silence, she is supporting "degrading" women in this aspect.

as they say, "it is what it is".

she acts as though she deserves special treatment from the press.
she will have to actually face "questions" from the press that may
not agree with her right wing, bull dog way of thinking.

welcome to the real world of politics Muffy!

Did she say 'reload' again? Hasn't she learned her lesson from the Arizona shootings to quit saying things like that.
First she says we should have gone into Libya earlier and now she says we shouldn't be there.
    Make up your mind Sarah!

Where does one even begin with this person? Not for ego or special interests? So why did you quit in Alaska to follow the money train? America should not be nation building? But a month ago you slammed Obama for not demanding that the Egypt President go and for not getting involved with Libya. Or in a nutshell, you critized Obama for not allowing America to tell other countries what to do. Be consistent and stop being a hypocrite.

She's going to stop whinning ... by whinning about the whinning and how she's not going to stop whinning? Congrats on making even less sense than usual, Sarah!

And I'm tired of "Conservative Women" who take a double-standard that it's okay to say anything they want about others, including other women, but if they get knocked, it's suddenly all about the sexism.

Saying that, Maher has proven himself to be an egotistical idiot who has dome more to hurt liberal causes than helped, save maybe Michael Moore.

It is not about her being a conservative. It is about her being an ignorant woman. If Ms. Palin is the poster girl for conservative women, God please help them. Sarah is not a good example for any woman conservative or liberal. She is an embarassment to all women. This is what she does not understand. All women are ashamed at how she carries herself. Yep Sarah you will only get the old white conservative men to vote for you. If any woman votes for you she has very low self esteem like you.

Pssssssst. Gotta secret for ya, dumb-dumb.....A large swath of mainstream America agrees with Maher. He simply has the forum and the balls to say what millions say and think about THE ETERNAL VICTIM that is Sarah...As usual, she contradicts herself at every turn..."I am done criticizing the lamestream media (followed by a whining criticism of the media)...."I don't want to criticize the president in a foreign country" (followed by slamming the CIC for "dithering on Libya"......."I am not a quitter" (after she quit halfway thru her term as Gov)....No one ever went broke exploiting the gullibility and stupidity of America....By the way, why is Fox News not criticizing Palin for slamming Obama on FOREIGN SOIL!!! You know, the way the Dixie Chicks were hounded for calling out Bush for his illegal invasion of a sovereign nation that had never harmed a single American, an adventure that is heading toward $2 trillion in cost....Oh that's right, Fox is the home of Bill O'Reilly, who showed stunning disrespect toward the President by interrupting him about 30 times in his interview with POTUS. And the beat goes on....

Oh, Sarah. You're so fragile and so very uninformed. But this is a typical profile for a narcissist. Please, for the love of humor everywhere, don't ever leave the media spotlight.

What isn't fair is that dingbats like Palin, who have spent their lives freeloading on the energy of other people's ignorance, have been allowed to continue instead of being put to work in some positive capacity commensurate with their level of ability to serve the public, like scrubbing toilets or cleaning grease traps.

I totally agree with Bill – she is one! And, you could easily use that word to describe male idiots like John Boner. It may be a female body part, but it can be used to slur both sexes. If anyone should apologize, it's Sarah, for wasting all of our time. What a stupid [male/female body part] she is!

So...NOW advocates on behalf of, and defends, all women regardless of political affiliation; but Palin will only come to the defense of conservative women. Nothing like a little hypocrisy to start your day. Stay classy Sarah!
