(CNN) - Sarah Palin says she's done.
Done with whining about the media, that is.
In an appearance on Fox News, where she serves as a contributor, Palin shrugged off a recent sexual slur directed her way from comedian Bill Maher, saying, "I'm through whining about a liberal press that holds particularly conservative women to a different standard, because it doesn't do any good to whine about it."
"Nobody ever promised life was going to be fair," Palin continued in what appeared to be a departure from her usual pattern of forcefully responding to critics, especially those in the media. "And politics really isn't fair, the scrutiny, the double standards, and all that. I'm dealing with it I guess in a different way than others who want to bring more light to it and demand that Bill Maher apologize."
The comments come a day after the traditionally-liberal National Organization for Women issued a statement condemning Maher for directing the slur toward Palin, saying, "Cut the crap! Stop degrading women with whom you disagree and/or don't like by using female body terms or other gender-associated slurs."
But Palin made clear she is none too welcome of newfound support from NOW, an organization that has long been critical of Palin and her stances on issues like abortion.
"I need NOW's defense like a fish needs a bicycle," the former Alaska governor said.
But she also vowed to be an advocate for other conservative women who come under attack.
"When it comes to other women, when it comes to my daughters…when somebody says something that's not true, I am not going to retreat on that. I'll reload and tell them what I think about them," she said.
Meanwhile, Palin says the door remains open to a possible presidential run in 2012, though quickly tempered those comments by saying, "You don't need a title, you don't need an office to make a difference." Still, the Alaska Republican says she's tempted:
"I am tempted to because I am still wondering who is going to be out there with a servant's heart, willing to serve the American people for the right reason. Not for ego, not for special interests…I am waiting to see, who else is out there willing to do this."
The former vice presidential candidate also directed fire toward President Obama's recent dealings with the crisis in Libya, suggesting the president has not made his mission there clear.
"We better be in it to win it. 'Win it' means Qadhafi goes and America gets to get on out of there," she said.
"It's not America's role not to be out and about nation building and telling other countries how to live," Palin added.
The interview with FOX follows a two country trip abroad, during which she visited India and Israel.
She's just waking up to the fact that life isn't fair, NOW? I knew she was a bit slow, but good grief Charlene Brown! I've said it before, if you couldn't ake the heat in the Governor's office, how would she fare as (God forbid) POTUS? No matter who gets that job, that person is going to be under the most intense scrutiny there is! And fodder for late night comedians as well! As Harry Truman once said, "If you can't stand the heat, better get out of the Kitchen!"!
"It's not America's role not to be out and about nation building and telling other countries how to live". So Sarah, you supported president Bush and his invasion of Iraq and the removal of Sadaam but you do not support the removal of Qadhafi. Both are terrorists. The difference? One was initiated by a republican and the other by a democrat. Party polotics continue to be the ruination of our country. You are a part of that, Sarah.
Yet.. we should be nation building in Iraq and Afghanistan, right,Sarah? And..you were whining when you declared you weren't going to whine anymore. And..you must not have had a "servant's heart" when you were Governor and quit in the middle of your term. And.........on and on.
Not for long. She can't keep her fan base if she shows any sense of dignity.
Palin, you are finaly getting the fact that you ARE a laughin stock. You also said it yourself. "Whining". Yes you have for the past 2 years. You also stated that you are wondering who is willing to serve America with a servant's heart.. Well, that is not you. You couldn't even serve Alaska. When you left being governor you stated you felt you could do more for the Alaskian people. So tell me Palin. What have you done for the Alaskian People. NOT much except give the a breath of fresh air since you have been gone. I am an avid on-line reader of Alaskian newspapers and I do not read anything that you have done. As a mater of fact, you are hardly mentioned.
I'll believe it when I see it. I'll put a sawbuck down she doesn't last 30 days before she starts in again.
palin is what bill maher called her. can't fault him for lack of accuracy.
I blame McCain for this garbage.
She's just not going to go away, is she?
There she goes again. "I'll reload...". Palin is utterly clueless about everything. Libya? It's so cliche to say but I serioulsy wonder if she could point it out on a map or if she even knows what continent it's a part of.
Palin for President..perfect candidate for a country that worships low lifes like Lindsey Lohan and Charlie Sheen. She has all the right ingredients..a cheating husband, an unwed slut for a daughter and a DS kid she uses as a prop . Great stuff for Whitehouse bashing in the future., even betyter than Newt's whoremongering. The dumbing down of America would make a great campaign slogan. Her great big "servant's heart" full of greed is just what America needs.
"I'm through" stop teasing us CNN. That was not funny.
"I am tempted to because I am still wondering who is going to be out there with a servant's heart, willing to serve the American people for the right reason. Not for ego, not for special interests…I am waiting to see, who else is out there willing to do this."

Well stated. Sarah's perspective about government's role in America and the politician's role in government is very powerful. There are at least 3 Democrats you have to look at as being in for exactly the wrong reasons of ego and special interest: Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. If you want to figure out what their response will be to any issue, just consider what first serves ego and special interests. There you have it.
Oh Darn, I was excited that she was going to say she was done with a presidential run!
["I'm throuth," Palin says]
What an artful title.
Nice hook, CNN. Got me all aroused for nothing. and i mean 'nothing'...
Damn! I thought she was quitting again.
Good to see that she learned absolutely nothing from the Giffords shooting. She says "I'm not going to retreat. I'll reload" Way to go Sarah Palin.
"...not for ego"????? oh please, she's a beauty queen at heart and will always go for whatever keeps her in the limelight. She will not settle for Miss Congeniality.
Damn, from the headline I hoped she was going away. Oh well, life goes on and so does her mouth. At least she finally owned up to whining like a five year old.
Sarah Palin is the only politician that can't be controlled be our media. And that drives them mad. Politicians have to play this game with the media. Politicians must do interviews to get good coverage. If they don't the media will take revenge on them with snarky reporting. Palin does not play that game.
Poor Sarah, she can dish it out but she just can't take it.
"It's NOTAmerica's role NOT to be out and about nation building and telling other countries how to live," Palin added.
–HAHA
How can you look at this woman and think "What a nice lady" ?! The people stood up for her and she saying "I need NOW's defense like a fish needs a bicycle," again it all about her. This woman makes Americans look like bunch of dummies, and don't we? By allowing her in to build our future?
Its also something Palin does every time she opens her trap.
