(CNN) – Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum cancelled a Saturday address to a major social conservative conference citing a family medical issue, in a statement released Friday.
A spokeswoman for Santorum said the issue was not related to the former senator's health. He was in Minneapolis en route to Iowa when he decided to change plans.
"Unfortunately, due to a family medical emergency, I will no longer be able to attend Congressman Steve King's Conservative Principles Conference in Iowa tomorrow. I am disappointed that I will not be able to participate in this important gathering of Iowa conservatives, but I look forward to being back in Iowa soon," he said in a statement.
Regarding the conservative principles conference: I'd sure like to know what they are. And a report card on how they are all doing.
Thank God you've got health insurance for you and your family, eh Frothy One?
Yes, it was a medical issue.
Santorum could not get a day pass from the sanitarium.
He doesn't want to be seen with the liars, bigots, hypocrits, and divorced wife-beaters.
Whatever the family medical emergency is I'm sure they have insurance to cover the expense otherwise they're up the creek. Anyway I hope everything comes out okay.
One of the first things that a serious professional learns about public appearances is that one shows up no matter what happens. A great singer who is a friend of mine kept a commitment as soloist with a major symphony orchestra when her father was dying in a hospital in the same city.
I hope that Santorum's skipping this conservative conference is an indication that he doesn't consider that group's power to be of great importance to his campaign. To me, that would be a plus for Santorum, considering the snubbed group.
Another SOB story from the RIGHT! Well – it's a sob story but I would never wish any ill on anyone. But it would be nice to know what the emergency is instead of printing an irrelevant story. I truly believe that not too many people care that Santorum is not in Iowa!
