NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - The Obama administration has been talking about corporate tax reform a lot lately. And so it was on Friday - but not through prepared bullet points.
Reporters peppered White House Press Secretary Jay Carney with questions about a story in the New York Times detailing the efforts of General Electric to avoid paying taxes.
FULL STORY
Just another example of the Dem leadership being in the pockets of big business. Obama and the GE CEO have a warm embrace...I wonder what else they are doing.
This is obscene. According to the NYTimes, they not only paid no taxes, they received a tax refund of 4 Billion. Even the most conservative politicians will have wince at this absurdity.
Congress is fighting over pennies given to NPR, while tax loopholes are robbing us of billions.
General Electric is the poster child for everything that's gone wrong with the corporate culture. And the fact that the CEO is indirectly part of Obama's team proves that it's not just the Republicans who are in bed with big business.
Stop peeing on my leg and telling me it's raining!! Why would you put a CEO in charge of this? Put the head of a watch dog group in the lead and see how quickly those taxes get paid!! President Obama I voted for you because I believed you have the best interest of the middle class at heart.............now stop screwing around and do it. Stop pandering to the rich and the CEO's and trust that when the election comes and you stand up for what is right, WE will send you our hard earned money again and put you back in the chair you are in today.
Doesn't GE own MSNBC which it runs for the Obama administration and the DNC?
The point (politically) of all this GE talk is to get the corporate tax rate lowered, with less exemptions, to even the rate for most corporations. Problem is, politicians will get the rate lowered, then gradually add the special-interest exemptions back for big business.
We do need a re-write of corporate tax code, but I don't trust these bums in Congress to do anything, except take regular breaks and lie to us. We need honest politicians working for America; we get crooks working for Big Business. (My Man, Representative Hank Johnson, excluded, of course.)
