Meghan McCain expects HBO movie to 'crucify' her family, Palin

Washington (CNN) – Add Meghan McCain to the list of those who are not looking forward to HBO's upcoming adaptation of "Game Change" - the 2009 book by journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin that provided an inside look into the last presidential race.

In her regular column Friday for the website The Daily Beast, McCain suggests she found the book itself reviling and says she expects the movie to "crucify" her family and Sarah Palin.

"I expect my family and Sarah Palin to be nothing short of crucified," the McCain daughter writes. "Another election is nearing and President Obama has publicly fallen from his stature as an infallible saint. It is in everyone's best interest to exaggerate and manifest things that didn't happen."

Meghan McCain has long taken issue with the best-selling book, insisting many of the behind-the-scenes stories of her father's failed presidential bid are either exaggerated or downright made up.
The movie is expected to focus on the book's largely-negative portrayal of the McCain campaign, especially the reportedly hasty decision to pick then-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as the vice presidential nominee.

John McCain himself also made clear earlier this week he has no intention of watching upcoming adaptation, in which actor Ed Harris will star as the Arizona Republican.

"He's a very fine actor and a great actor," McCain said during an appearance on Fox News Sunday of Harris. "I obviously haven't read the book, so I don't think I'll be watching the film."
In addition to Harris, actress Julianne Moore will play the role of Sarah Palin and Woody Harrelson will depict McCain's campaign manager, Steve Schmidt.

HBO is owned by Time Warner, CNN's parent company.

I voted for John McCain, not because I agreed with eveything he said or stood for, but because he was the candidate selected to run against Obismal. The left-controlled media has stopped reporting facts quite awhile ago. This will be another work of fiction, of course promoting the left, progressive view of history and events.

Hollyweird is so out of touch with main stream America.

The book and movie are 100% political advertisements and must be treated as such.. That means equal time for Republicans/McCain/Palin to rebut any representations in the movie.. The Democommunists have Micheal Fat Slob Moore. Why can't the Right get someone to make propaganda movies for thier side? Even Hitler had his own movie producer.

The 2012 election is in full swing already. How sad. Politicians used to work 3 years of their term and run for election the fourth year. Now it is 24/7 electioneering from the day they get elected. Therefore, no work gets done and the public gets ripped off once again.

@ Dan J – Are you really complaining about a network having an agenda? Judging by your comment I'm going to venture a guess that you have watched Fox news. Correct? I'm pretty sure that the writers on Fox news are also campaign/speech writers for the Republican party..

Watch Fox come out with an alternative movie version depicting McCain as running a supberb campaing staring Glenn Beck as McCain, the long neck witch as Palin and Hannity as Steve Schmidt.

It seems most of the masses would rather watch infotainment that actually look at facts and attempt to make up their own minds. As long as people listen to the Hollywood types and let them influence their decisions, they'll continue to be zombies doing the bidding of their masters.

I was thinking Meghan was the smart McCain. But, this is an emotional issue for her. She knows her father was an idiot for picking Sarah for the VP slot. She knows he's on the wrong side of most social issues. She knows he's a shameless flopper on issues that turn on him. She knows he has a nasty temper. She knows his morals are suspect for the way he treated his first wife. But, when it plays out in a movie for all to see, it is hard to accept it.

As someone who GREATLY admires (and respects) John McCain, he is NOT the same guy he was years ago. He would take on anybody including those scumbags Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell and thats what made him such a "Maverick". After losing to Bush in '00, he changed into a guy who kissed the feet of all the right-wing nutjobs (including Falwell and Robertson) and then made the huge mistake of picking Sarah "never finished a thing in her life" Palin. Game over for the McCain family

You people are soooo stupid. Everyone speaks about how unqualified Palin was for Vice President. Vice President is a NOTHING JOB!!! Get over it. Oh no, well if the president passes away! Big deal, we have bigger issues if that is the case. If you vote or dont vote for someone based on the Vice President, you have issues. Oh, and almost all comments are against Republicans and Bush. I am a republican, ok, we get it. You hate Bush, he was stupid, etc. But at least he was a leader. What has your boy done. NOOOOTHING!

If someone were to be crucified, it will most likely be the other republican candidates, spokesmen, etc.

Meghan, it was Sarah Palin alone who brought down the party of your dad.
People had respect for your dad prior to his decision but it was destroyed by the choice of his running mate.
When she came out with her book titled 'Going Rogue', she exposed herself. The word Rogue has the same meaning as deceiver and fraud.
It was a very unfortunate choice of your dad that has had far reaching effects.
    She did untold damage.

Only those on the left will watch it, so who cares. Although it would be interesting how they depict Meghan.

John McCain is the epitomy of the proverbial "welfare queen". This born of privilege, curmudgeon, went from Annapolis (tax payer funded), to 20 years in the US Navy, Congressman, and the Senate. He collects Social Security, an O-6 Navy pension, and is paid $175K plus benefits for his "Senator" gig. All paid for by the US taxpayers. He hasn't gone a day in his life without collecting a government check.

Unfortunately Meaghan the book was proven to be an extremely accurate account of the primaries and national campaigns. However, the book dealt mostly with Obama and Clinton. If the movie is just about McCain/Palin, then that would be unfair. The person who comes out the worst in the Game Change book is John Edwards. Is the HBO movie going to tough on that??

If Fox were "fair and balanced", then you'd have a case... but until then... I support HBO's effort and accept any bias it portrays =)

it isn't becoming when the bible-thumpers are shown to be liars, adulterers, or really dumb. It is shameful when they pretend any criticism of them is akin to crucifiction.

Your father should be ashamed of himself for picking such a racist woman simply because your father thought Hillary Clinton might be on's Obama tickets , well that sure backfired and look what we got ? A racist idiot that has business being in politics period . So if HBO takes a few shots at your dad , oh well maybe it's well deserved !!!!

Meghan get over yourself and your family, you are a public figure. And to the person who said that there are many stupid Americans because they voted for Obama, well there must be even dumber Americans because so many voted for Bush twice.

Mr. Mooney, if you're getting paid to write please don't take money to write sentences like "McCain suggests she found the book itself reviling.." Reviling? Really? This puts you on the level of a certain young Republican who apparently is getting paid to write because of who her daddy is, as I hope it's not due to HER penning illiterate garbage like "It is in everyone's best interest to exaggerate and manifest things that didn't happen."

Do either Mr. Mooney or Ms. McCain have dictionaries that include the MEANINGS of the words revile and manifest?

Also Ms. McCain, Jesus was crucified. He didn't run for President and choose a semi-literate, venal moron as a running mate in a transparently cynical play to win a female electorate he utterly failed to understand. Nor was he a young girl with no credentials who lucked into a series of large paychecks at high-profile gigs because her daddy was running for President and because in place of any book-learnin' she was able to substitute cleavage and a "mavericky" sexual tease as a perverse representation of what her purported new breed of young Republicans represent.

Thanks for now making it clear that, when the old meanies start targeting YOU you're really no different than Sarah Palin, and the entire Republican Party for that matter - thin-skinned, hypocritical, and much more concerned about your own petty ego issues than the real problems facing millions of Americans who are less important than you and your latest frivolous Tweet or self-aggrandizing photo op. Why don't you hush up now and maybe go volunteer at a homeless shelter?

I have become tired of Meghan McCain. The fact that her father is a politician does not make her an expert on politics. I am shocked that anyone is remotely interested in her opinion.

Meghan McCain? Come on – like, if she can totally get , like a platform or something, to spread, like her wisdom, or something, that would be totally great. I'm sure she has much, like wisdom, and stuff to contribute to the world, and even America, and I'm totally, for sure certain this time that the only reason we know who she is is Not because she just happens to be John McCain's daughter.....(fer sure) It's because of her insightful contribution to the world of political discourse...

Your pops is an old man but he's YOUR POPS and you can see his shortcomings. His mental facilities have slipped. He is not the man he was in 2000. That guy, I might have voted for.

Senator McCain is out of touch and doesn't get it anymore. He was WRONG & RECKLESS to pick Palin. You and he need to call a spade a spade and ADMIT THS loudly and without qualifications. Had your father picked Romeny or the budget guy out of Ohio, HE MIGHT have won because people would have seen what they thought was an economy-savvy team. But in 2008, it still would have been tough for him to win because he was seen as a PANDERER.

Meaghan, you need to call the GOP on the carpet for their lack of an solutions to the nation's problems. It's been 1,003 days since they've put forth any action plans to better the country. By tomorrow, it will be 1,004 days.

Here, here johnRJ08... I could not have said it better myself. I really liked John McCain before the Palin debacle... but after that, and the subsequent refusal to admit error, has clearly shown McCain does not have the proper judgement to be president.

Frankly, Meghan, I still very much like you... you clearly are smart and sexy... but you are coming off as bitter and defensive about this show that most people don't care about. I wouldn't have watched the show before, but I can't wait to watch it now. Seriously, ditch those Republicans, show some real American spirit and strike out on your own... either political party will just drag you down into their pit of dirty politics, so do what YOU know is right.

Do these movies do well money-wise? I can't imagine who would go and see this or even bother with in on hbo unless you are already a card carrying diehard of a certain political party. I can only imaging the outrage if someone makes a movie depicting ofailure getting assisnated. The liberals in berkeley will shed a tear and make some protest signs.

It would be nice to see a party that loves to talk about "personal responsibility" actually take some for a change. Maybe you Republicans should stop always blaming others for your problems and acting like victims. Just a suggestion...
