Democrats, Republicans fail to reach budget deal
Washington (CNN) - Top White House and congressional negotiators failed to reach an agreement Tuesday on a budget to cover the remainder of the current fiscal year, bringing the federal government closer to a shutdown at the end of the week.
Key Democrats rejected a Republican proposal to keep the government running for one more week at the cost of an additional $12 billion in cuts. Republicans, meanwhile, dismissed Democrats' insistence that there had been an agreement to cut $33 billion for the rest of the fiscal year.

The republicans have been looking forward to doing this since their failed shut down in 1995 under Newt. That only cost taxpayers $800 million, this shut down will cause a global economic crisis.
Republicans have presented an actual budget. Democrats didn't even pass a budget last year. At least Republicans are doing their job and trying to make this nation more fiscally responsible. Democrats have failed.
This man is ABSOLUTELY insane...........does he think he is back in Chicago with the mob that fixes politics? What the hell is wrong with this guy and why is he not President of Yemen or some other place where his tactics are more acceptable?
I don't understand how these policy riders have anything to do with getting the budget passed. How is this worth anything? They are ideologally driven and don't reflect the NEEDS of the country. I want to get the country moving. The GOP isn't focusing on what it should be doing because of these policy riders.
America you are being held hostage by the Republican Party which is currently in control of the House. America these Republicans are the ones that are about to shut down our government on purpose ( they are terrorist in Tea Bagger disguise ), this will bring the US to a standstill and may cause an abrupt reversal in economic growth. When this happens the Tea Baggers will refuse all responsibility and of coarse blame it on some government institution. IT WAS BUSHes WAR IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN THAT CAUSED THE U.S. A TRILLION DOLLAR + DEBT, YET THE PENTAGON IS NOT BEING ASKED TO PAY THEIR PART OF THE DEBT, THEY AREN'T EVEN BEING ASKED TO CUT THEIR BUDGET. IT WAS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY THAT WAS FOR DEREGULATING WALL STREET, SAVINGS AND LOANS, AND THE OIL INDUSTRY ,THESE ARE OTHER EXAMPLES OF WHAT HAS CAUSED THE MAJORITY OF OUR DEBT (bailing out their failures). SO WHAT DO WE DO? WE GIVE THEM BONUSES AND TAX BREAKS. HEALTH CARE DIDN'T CONTRIBUTED TO THESE DEBTS, AND MEDICARE/MEDICAID CONTRIBUTED VERY LITTLE ( Most of their loses are due to fraudulent claims ). Ryan and Boehner will throw out ridiculous proposals with one goal in mind, to make Obama look bad. If the Presidential elections were tomorrow there is no way the Republicans could win the Presidency, they know it, so they want to shut down the government. And for the next 1 and 1/2 years the Republicans will continue to throw as many monkey wrenches in the system and this is not the time to do this.
This was very unusual and awkward since we are really fond of each other views.
Republicans love to shut down the u.s. govt as they did for a year in the 90's over the excuse of a private consensual encounter that hurt nobody and cost 0
