Big payday for Bristol Palin

(CNN) – Sarah Palin isn't the only member of the famous Alaska family that's raked in serious amounts of cash.

Daughter Bristol Palin made serious cash from the Candie's Foundation- a group that promotes abstinence to teenagers, according to a 2009 tax return from the group first posted by the blog Palingates and reported by several media organizations.

So what's the going rate for an abstinence promoter these days?

Apparently $262,000, according to the tax returns.

The younger Palin, then 18, was made an ambassador to the group in 2009 – months after giving birth to son Trip. She is no longer seeing Trip's father, Levi Johnston. Her work included giving speeches before teenagers, as well as appearing on television shows and in advertisements to raise awareness about the issue.

"I am so happy to have this opportunity to work with The Candie's Foundation on spreading the message of teen pregnancy prevention," Palin said when she was named to the position in May of 2009. "

"I feel that I could be a living example of the consequences of teen pregnancy. If I can prevent even one girl from getting pregnant, I will feel a sense of accomplishment."

Palingates is run by a group that calls themselves "The Sarah Palin Watchdog Team."

"I feel that I could be a living example of the consequences of teen pregnancy."

Such horrible consequences, like being on a nationally televised TV show and making a quarter million bucks by just saying "I wasn't abstinent, but you should be."

Only in America could a prime example of how abstinence-only education is doomed to failure be a spokeswoman for that movement.

    Irony is dead.

She certainly learned the art of grifting well from her mommy. Palins will fleece fools with record setting quickness!! Wow, famous for being another teenage pregnancy....Where's Huckleberry to weigh in on this one???

Only in America can you get knocked up and then preach abstinence and make a quarter million dollars for that preaching. What a country where a dacning fool can make that kind of money.

So, a group that promotes abstinence paid over a quarter of a million dollars to an unmarried teen mother.........sounds to me like they are promoting hypocracy and teen sex.......maybe they should pay money to girls who actually abstain? Just a thought.

This is pathetic. Hey teenagers, go get pregnant and make $262K telling other teenagers not to get pregnant! How about you donate that money to a deserving charity, you don't need it as much as a real-world unwed teenage mother. If this was anyone other than Sarah Palin's daughter, Sarah Palin and the rest of her Kool-Aid drinkers would be using her as an example of the country being ruined by Obama (and his kind – yes, let's acknowledge one of the biggest reasons the conservatives hate him).

So getting pregnant as a teenager out of wedlock and going on a abstinence tour makes you rich? Gosh. I'm surprised there aren't more young single moms out there raking in the dough. Talk about wealthfare. Disgusting.

Disgusting. My granddaughter, a Junior at a State Univ. can't find a summer job, but this bimbo who got knocked up learned well from her mother, use any angle you can to make money. As I've said before, what's the definition of someone who sells themselves for big $$?

Shouldn't they have had her before she got pregnant. How can you be an example, when you are part of the problem. OH, now I see mom had her paid out of funds that should have gone to a real virgin or someone who deserved to be a spokes person. HYPOCRITE Sarah Palin. As long as her family members pockets get lined. What can someone who got pregnant teach someone who is not having sex? The message is you can make money, just lie about your abstinence of sex. Didn't this girl get engaged to Levi and broke up with him after becoming this so-called spokes person. What a joke, but its not even funny.

Bristol Palin telling teenagers about abstinence. What's next, Axl Rose telling us not to use drugs?

Haha! Talk about an oxymoron: A teenager, who obviously can't keep her pants on, is the spokesperson for a sexual abstinence group and actually being rewarded for having a child out of wedlock. If it weren't so funny, I'd be crying for our country...

When will examples of negligent behavior stop being upheld as models of decorum?

She promotes abstinence, after publicly admitting and being proof of its unlikeliness, and people pay to listen to this? Wouldn't education about birth control be a more effective route to controlling teenage pregnancy?

Do her fans consist of Fox News viewers. who seem to be living in a parallel universe called unreality?

Yes, I am so happy to have this opportunity to make a ton of money for doing exactly what I was not supposed to do (get pregnant) and telling others not to do the same.. They sure take care of their own... Easy to take care of child when you make almost $300K a year... How about the young lady in a poor neighborhood making minimum wage? She does not have a conservative cause foundation to pay her a ton of money.....

Double standards! Assume she was the hispanic or African American and got pregnant out of wedlock. Do you think she would have gotten the same treatment from the press, society and these organizations? Go figure!

I guess the consquence of out of wedlock pregnancy , if your mom is a "Christian" Rebuplican politician, is $262,000.

Teen pregnancy pays! What a great message she is sending to the world.

And isn't it classy to take over a quarter million dollars from a non-profit organization simply to talk about the "consequences" of teen pregnancy?

Hmmm, hundreds of thousands in payments, national magazine covers, starring roles in television shows, a big house in Arizona...some consequenses! If those are consequences I hope more teens get knocked up.

Does Bristol Palin really think that her experiences following being an unwed teen mother are typical? How many teen mothers are invited on "'Dancing With the Stars"? And how many teen mothers earn $262,000 for doing anything - let alone promoting abstinence? If anything, teen age girls with stars in their eyes might look at Bristol and her baby and say, "Wow, I want that kind of life." Quite an example of the hypocrisy of "Do what I say" rather than "Do what I did".

If the girl can make money because of her mommy and because of her teen pregnancy, so let her make the money. But Huckabee has to shut up about Portman pregnancy, like (for ever).

They could have given it to 10 poor unwed mothers and they would have deserved and needed it more. These kind of foundations are like "You scratch my back and I will scratch yours".

So the consequences of teen pregnancy for Bristol was what?
Dancing With the Stars, a big check from Candies, a book deal . . . .
Of course there's the lovely idea her son gets to grow up with that his mother publicly
considered him such a bad consequence. Grifter,

Let's see. Paying Bristol Palin to talk about abstinence. Isn't that somewhat like having John Dillinger discuss how banks are safe places to keep your money or Al Capone, Lucky Luciano and Joe Kennedy Sr. discuss how an alcohol-free lifestyle can benefit society.
That's almost as ironic as Snookie getting paid more than Maya Angelou to give a speech at Rutgers!

The Candies Foundation paid unwed mothers in need, a total of $35.000 giving Bristol Palin more than 7 times what the charity distributed. . I am currently researching the Candies Foundation and promise to boycott anything they are involved with.
