Big payday for Bristol Palin
(CNN) – Sarah Palin isn't the only member of the famous Alaska family that's raked in serious amounts of cash.
Daughter Bristol Palin made serious cash from the Candie's Foundation- a group that promotes abstinence to teenagers, according to a 2009 tax return from the group first posted by the blog Palingates and reported by several media organizations.
So what's the going rate for an abstinence promoter these days?
Apparently $262,000, according to the tax returns.
The younger Palin, then 18, was made an ambassador to the group in 2009 – months after giving birth to son Trip. She is no longer seeing Trip's father, Levi Johnston. Her work included giving speeches before teenagers, as well as appearing on television shows and in advertisements to raise awareness about the issue.
"I am so happy to have this opportunity to work with The Candie's Foundation on spreading the message of teen pregnancy prevention," Palin said when she was named to the position in May of 2009. "
"I feel that I could be a living example of the consequences of teen pregnancy. If I can prevent even one girl from getting pregnant, I will feel a sense of accomplishment."
Palingates is run by a group that calls themselves "The Sarah Palin Watchdog Team."

I believe it. Look at Mom, she walked out as Gov. of Alaska. Obligations (when more $$$$ is to be made elsewhere) be damed. Like mother, like daughter. ----Pay her enough and she would do a pole dance for anyone.

Come to think of it, I believe she DID have the opportunity to prevent one girl from getting pregnant. She blew it.
Next, let's get Michael Vick to represent the S.P.C.A.
Oh yes, she's a model for teen pregnancy prevention: "Girls, get pregnant like me and you will rake in the cash!"
and the message is what? seems like Bristol made out pretty well. Candie's Foundation however needs an overhaul.
Wow... I wish I could get a gig doing a little talking and a few tv spots and such for a quarter of a million a year. It sure beats the brains out of having a real job. And what a great lesson for teens... stay in school, work hard and don't have sex... that way you can make next to nothing after you graduate. Or.. you can just have sex, become an unwed teen mother and make a quarter of a million dollars a year telling other kids not to do what you did. Its about one step away from just being a pyramid scheme!
You gotta love the Palins.... Instead of "making lemonade our of lemons", they've figured out how to make millions off manure. ...and steeping in smelly manure certainly seems to be their specialty.

I personally would have donated some of that money to the cause if it were me. Now she has to explain why she didn't give the money to them if that is the case. Good luck with that.
Levi Johnston rightly said Sarah Palin resigned from office so she could rake in cash that was being dangled before her by various organizations. Now Bristol is raking in cash as Sarah's high profile daughter. So much for concervatives who preach frugality.
What a country. A 17 year old has a baby and in a short amount of time is out there preaching abstinence. Further she gets paid a lot of money to preach and the only reason is that she is the daughter of someone, Sarah Palin, who conistently demonstrates lack of substance and knowledge on most subjects that SHE speaks about. Great work if you can get it I guess.
Promoting safe sex would be much more intelligent. She obviously couldn't make abstinence work.
Yup . . . . she's a great role model for all unwed mothers. (She should get more money.)
Perhaps Bristol could bring a dozen more girls like herself on tour, then more kids would want to have babies and ride along with them.
Unfortunately, the irony of a teen mother getting rich promoting abstinence on behalf of a political movement which demonizes extramarital sex as inherently immoral (when done by a Democrat) is likely lost on this family of airheads.
Sooo, she is rewarded for getting knocked up at 16? I thought she was doing this out of the goodness of her dear little heart. What a joke.
Bristol Palin is not the best person to lecture teens on abstinence. What negative repercussions has she faced from having a baby as a teen? She's appeared on magazine covers, TV shows, get speaking engagements. Her family has supported her. Plenty of men still want to date her, even though she is a single mom. Exactly how has this been hard for her? I think it will be hard to convince teenagers that a pregnancy will ruin your life when it seems to have brought her a lot of fame and money. I don't wish ill to Ms. Palin, but I certainly don't think she should be giving anyone advice when she really doesn't know what it is like for an average teen mom.
You are missing half the story! It's not just that Bristol Palin made so much money. It is that they paid her $262,000, which is 7 times more than they spent in grants to actual teen pregnancy health and counseling clinics ($35,000).
You might want to include the fact that the Candies Foundation paid out only $35,000 to programs to prevent Teen pregnancy in the same year. And the Foundation ended the year with $2,217,768 in assets.
Hold on a moment did the Candie's Foundation look up the word ABSTINENCE because I don't think that Bristol Palin qualify for the task.

That's the sound of the Palins whenever anything negative is mentioned about them. But it's ok for them to tell everyone how much they make schilling for groups after they've screwed up or touting their "experience" (at quitting).
Once again, a complete lack of personal responsibility makes the news.
Ok, so perhaps Bristol can use that money to get attend an institution of higher learning. Unfortunately, if the Conservatives have it their way, $262,000 will likely only cover a 2 yr degree at a community college.
This is just par for the course. It's the Palin family doing what the Palin family does. Nothing more than a bunch of shallow, money/fame wh0res. They are completely dispicable. $arah has taught Bristol well. Tell those followers what they want to hear, pretend you care, and cash in big time. This family is a national embarrassment, and a human disgrace.
This is what is wrong with America. This girl has no education, no experience, no vision, no idea, and can make no contribution that adds any amount of value that WARRANTS her earning over a QUATER-OF-A-MILLION Dollars.
America and it's celebrity obsession will be it's undoing. Too many people get REWARDED for doing nothing of any SUBSTANCE. It is harmful because it sets a bad example for others; yound and old alike.
Get a real job and stop trading off your MAMA's celebrity – which itself is undeserved.
What this article failed to mention is that Bristol Palin was paid SEVEN TIMES more than the amount given to the program to actually work on preventing teen pregnancy.
Wow. Get knocked up as a teenager, dump the boyfriend and become an unwed mother and then get paid a quarter million bucks to tell others not to do what I did. What a country.

This family is obscene. If this girl thinks she "represents" teen, unwed mothers she is as delusional as her mother. I've worked with this population , they can't make ends meet, it's so difficult. Bristol Palin is flying around the country, dancing on TV, has more money then many HARD working people- she represents no one- very sad. She should have donated the money to the many shelters around the US, including Alaska, that house unwed teen mothers and their children because she sure as hell didn't deserve a quarter of a million dollars for being on the Candies Foundation payroll for 9 months!
