(CNN) - A friend of President Barack Obama was arrested Monday for allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover officer posing as a prostitute, according to CNN affiliate Hawaii News Now.
Robert Richard Titcomb, 49, was arrested with three other men Monday night and released later that evening after posting $500 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Honolulu District Court May 2.
The Honolulu Department of Public Safety confirmed Titcomb's arrest to CNN Wednesday. The Honolulu Police Department confirmed an arrest with matching information but would not disclose the name of the individual.
According to Hawaii News Now, Titcomb and the president have been close friends since high school. The two are frequently seen golfing and dining together when the Obama family visits Hawaii.
Most recently the Obama family spent time with the Titcombs on a trip to Hawaii in late December 2010 and early January 2011. White House pool reports at the time noted Titcomb by name on multiple dates during the trip. According to CNN records, President Obama golfed with Titcomb on December 23, December 26, December 28 and January 2. The first family was joined by the Titcomb family on Christmas Day and spent most of December 30 at the Titcomb residence eating, playing volleyball and enjoying time on the beach. The first couple also had dinner with the Titcomb on December 29.
Titcomb had no comment when reached by Hawaii News Now.

mama always said that you can judge a man based on who his friends are. just another close associate with questionable morals.
And this matters why? Just cause he knows Obama....geeez. Quit trying to make something political out of some guys sick perverted diisease
If FoxNews does, so must we.... Is that your new calling? This isn't news-worthy. Fox puts it up just to continue to barrage of attacks on the President. What's your excuse?
The oldest profession, and a victimless crime, yet puritanical society that we are, we can't just make it a legitimate business, as in Nevada.
*sigh*
So we are going to blame the president because his friend made a bad choice? It is inconceivable that we would hold responsible people for the actions of their friends. If that was the case then there's not a politician in Washington, or anywhere in the world for that matter that should remain in office. Additionally there's not a person left on the planet that should be allowed to run for office to replace the mass exodus that this would cause. I may not be a huge Obama fan, but this is getting a little extreme.
OK...What the heck does this have to do with ANYTHING? Yellow journalism at its best.
How many other politicians have "friends" that have been arrested for something? C'mon, get some REAL news to print.
Why is this even a news? I have about 800 friends on facebook, but should I be linked to them if they do something wrong..... Hell No!
Morality, or the lack of, isn't partisan.
While I am no Obama fan I am not sure why the activities of "friends" needs to get reported.I certainly have no idea what most of my friends are up to all the time.
We all have friends from highschool who don't make good choices, but we still love them all the same. Who here feels it is more than a little unfair to somehow hold the president accountable for this guys actions? I think it really speaks to Obama's integrity when all they can dig up on Obama is that one of his old buddies from highschool solicited a prostitute. It was never that difficult to find something Bush did to tarnish his rep.
It is pathetic that at anytime an article like this makes it into print, but especially now with so much legitimate news happening around the world that you can still find reporter (in this case 3 reporters) so lazy and so uninspired that they spend their time dredging through the arrest reports trying to link arrestees to someone, anyone famous so they don't need to actually get out and work for a living. I have to wonder if you ran these mens names looking for links to anyone in the CNN corporation if you find any connections?
And this is newssssssssss – NOT! CNN PLEASE STOP WITH THE DISTRACTIONS!
At least a story like this could not come about for The Donald Trump. He has no friends.
This has made my day 🙂 Thank you so very much 🙂 LOL
so what why does this matter?
And this is important because?
I am trying to figure out WTF this have to do with Our President?
Has nothing to do with Obama. I had a relative who was a crook. Not my fault.
Why is our president's name in this headline? This man's arrest has nothing to do with our president. This is irresponsible and inflammatory journalism at its best. Please our nation has real problems. While sex trafficking and sexual violence are among them, this man's arrest has nothing to do with our president, and our president's name should not be a part of this story in any way. I am sure that if we dig hard enough, every person in this country can be connected to someone who has engaged in criminal activity. This article is shameful.
How is this news and who cares? I have no love for Obama, but who cares what his cousin's, step-father's, neighbor's, former roommate did?
If the winds bows to hard its our President's fault. if anything goes wrong its the President's fault.
Leave that man alone and let him do his job like we let Bush screw up everything and now we blame it on the President Obama.
And...? As long as the parties involved are adults and no one is being coerced, prostitution should be legal. Of course, the hypocrites on the "right" will be whining and pointing at this as yet another "example" of how bad Obama's choice in friends is. This will be done while covering up yet another scandal among their own.
Oh, to add–the man is a PRIVATE citizen and this really shouldn't be national news, no matter who he was best friends with in HS (which he couldn't have been because The Donald says Obama is not from here).
A friend of Obama got busted for soliciting a prostitute, quick Gingrich, that's an impeachable offense.
k. And this affects our country...how?
