Palin unfavorable rating reaches new high

Washington (CNN) – Sarah Palin is getting more bad polling news: her unfavorable rating has reached an all time high in a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey.

According to the new poll released Wednesday, 53 percent of all Americans say they hold a negative or very negative view of the former Alaska governor while only 25 percent give Palin high marks.

That compares to the 50 percent unfavorable rating Palin registered in a similar NBC/Wall Street Journal poll last December and a 45 percent unfavorable rating the former vice presidential nominee garnered one year ago.

And less than 50 percent of Republicans polled have a favorable view of the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee for president, 25 percent say they have an unfavorable view. When in comes to those without allegiance to a political party, almost two in ten independents have a favorable view of Palin and more than half have an unfavorable opinion of her. Eight in ten Democrats do not have a favorable opinion of Palin.

The NBC/WSJ poll - which surveyed 1,000 Americans by telephone from March 31-April 4 and carries a 3 percentage point sampling error – is the latest in a string of polls showing Palin headed in the wrong direction as she contemplates a presidential bid.

According to a Gallup survey late last month, Palin's support among likely Republican primary voters continues to decline. That survey showed the Alaska Republican drawing 12 percent of support from Republicans and Republican-leaning independents – a 4 percent decline from a similar survey conducted one earlier.

Those results were also similar to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll last month showing Palin had fallen 7 points between January and March, from 19 percent to 12 percent.

Sigh! So some private citizen with no political affiliations, no political savvy, no political chances and not much intelligence has a low unfavorability rating. WHy do we care? What's the unfavorability rating for Lindsay Lohan or the Kardashians?

What is the basis of an unfavorable rating? It is irrational.

Not surprising, just surprised that it took so long for the American people to recognize a 22 caliber mind in a 357 magnum world.

The polls now mean nothing. If and when she decides to run for President her numbers will surpass all candidates. She would destroy President Obama. President Obama is a one term President, that is all Americans can stomach

Of course Mr. Mooney would publish this piece. He and the rest of the Obamanazi propaganda troops are in high swing to destroy anyone that is a threat to their blessed mesiah.

Don't you people running CNN realize we are real tired of this stuff. It has been 2 and half years and you have no other focus except to shine unfavorable light on Sarah Palin. I have an idea for Mr. Mooney, lets focus on the politics in DC, the issues that currently tie up our country. Forget about who wants to run for President in 2012. Let's shine the light on both Democrats and Republicans that are lying to us and getting rich behind the scenes. But then again, that would be like real work huh ?

Wow, you took a poll of "all Americans"? I don't remember getting a call. I think you mean that her negative ratings are 53% among those you polled, which are heavily weighted towards Democrats.

It is amazing and mind-boggling that there are still so many people supporting her. Where have all these dumb Americans come from? And then another "hero" – Trump. Insanity, stupidity. God help America if some people think these can be leaders.

Too bad. There goes my hope for a Palin/Bachman dream ticket. I think between the two of them they might total at least a 100 IQ.

OMG I am so surprised! It only took the bulk of the U.S. population 2.5 years to see what most of us saw in the first 48 hours - she is galactically stupid and negative, immature and way too sensitive to be in public life. She's still pouting over Katy's tough question " what do you read"? She is impotent as a leader and actually quit the only job that would have given her any qualification for any further office, governing only 650,000 people of a mostly homogenous culture void of any of the issues plaguing the rest of the country. In her former job as mayor of Wasilla with a 3-room "civic" center, one of the qualified candidates in their last election was 19 yo HS drop out. She increasingly reminds me of Anita Bryant from the 60s-70s and it looks like her fate is moving in a downward spiral just like Anita's did.

  16. realitybites Insignificant shooting star who is starting to loose her shine. A leached out tea bag-o-wind. Why spend money having people do polls to show she's yesterday's lunch going to the city sewer. Only interesting if you enjoy seeing her slide into unfavorable territory. I do but, the biggest insult CNN could give her is treat her as irrelevant news or non-news. Time to move onto more worhty information like the downfall fo the fading nutjob Tea Party and how it's dragging down the GOP w/ it. When the tide turns, it turns and it has.

I'm going to have to guess that the 1000 person survey given over the phone was during the day? Ya, that's the time when all the working class voters are at work, and all the others? liberals, sitting on their welfare checks

Uh oh...time to pull out the Jaberwockie Barbie trump style of glasses frames, high-heel hooker boots and a brand new hairdo accompanied by a completely nonsensical and virulently uneducated Facebook rant about the government shutdown the GOP is causing as part of its perennial "Plan A" whenever they have the House under a Dem POTUS.
