Trump sends investigators to Hawaii to look into Obama
Washington (CNN) – Self-proclaimed birther Donald Trump is now so doubtful of President Obama's birthplace that he's sent a team of his own investigators to Hawaii in hopes of getting to the bottom of the issue.
That's according to Trump himself, who, in an interview with NBC, warned his investigators just might uncover "one of the greatest cons in the history of politics and beyond."
"I have people that have been studying it and they cannot believe what they're finding," Trump said an interview that aired Thursday Morning.
Asked if he has assigned people specifically to search in Hawaii, Trump said, "Absolutely."
The business mogul, who in a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll is tied for second place among potential presidential candidates, also suggested the president is involved in an ongoing cover-up over the matter.
"He spent $2 million in legal fees trying on to get away from this issue, and if it weren't an issue, why wouldn't he just solve it?" he said. "I wish he would because if he doesn't, it's one of the greatest scams in the history of politics and in the history, period. You are not allowed to be a president if you're not born in this country. Right now, I have real doubts."
According to a recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national poll, 72 percent of Americans say that the president was definitely or probably born in the U.S., with one in four saying that he was definitely or probably born outside the country. But the survey indicates a partisan divide, with 43 percent of Republicans but only 11 percent of Democrats saying that Obama was definitely or probably born outside the U.S.
In 2008, the Obama campaign produced a certification of live birth that reports his birthplace as Honolulu, Hawaii – a document the Hawaii government says is official evidence of his birth in the state. Among other evidence of Obama's birth there is the fact the hospital where he was born took out ads in two Hawaiian newspapers in 1961 announcing the birth, while current Gov. Neil Abercrombie says he knew Obama's family and remembers his birth.
In the broad interview, Trump also insisted he's more serious than ever about mounting a presidential bid, but said he can't make a final decision until this season of "Celebrity Apprentice" wraps up.
"I hate to say it. I have the No. 1 show on NBC. Is that the correct statement? The "Celebrity Apprentice" is doing great," said Trump. "You're not allowed to have a show on and be a candidate. It's a great show and it's got phenomenal ratings, and until that show is over I can't declare, otherwise NBC would have to take the show off the air and that would be very unfair."
The show is set to wrap up in mid-May.

Number One show on NBC – that's like being Number 18 on CW, isn't it? Anyway, why doesn't he make a show out of going to find Obama's birth ceritificate? Make it an even bigger deal. Oh, that's right, because saying "I've sent people" is a good fib that doesn't have to produce results, not to mention that the results will be like Capone's valut and being a total flop.
If there were anything in Obama's background don't you think the McCain campaign would have found it? Or maybe the entire Republican party is in on the conspiracy? Maybe even God himself? You better watch it Donald, you don't know how deep this thing could be!!
Obama could not have become a candidate without Sen. Claire McCaskill. Following the NYT articles about McCain's eligibility problems, she used that as a smokescreen to help Obama. After getting McCains birth certificate but not Obama's, she tried to cirvumvent the Constitution with S 2678 (failed) and SR 511, which stated that McCain was eligible and others born outside the country once thought ineligible were actually elibible (Obama). It was a lie, but both parties signed the resolution making them all guilty of violating the Constitution. Repubs signed because they thought McCain could beat Hillary. Dems signed it to make Obama eligible. Hillary did not expose Obama because she had enough delegates to get the nomination. At the convention the nation got snookered as did Hillary and McCain when Howard Dean forced Hillary's delegates to illegally switch their votes to Obama. Congress will not impeach Obama or even think of it because they would have to impeach themselves or face voter wrath when the truth comes out. Their lack of integrity keeps them silent while the nation suffers.
Will Trump let us know his findings, even if they are not what he hoped for them to be? Or will he continue to trump up allegations?
We knew he was off before - now it's confirmed. How disrespectful, how crude. Of course, if the present President were white, none of this would be happening, right? If, God forbid, McCain had won, would Trump be sending "investigators" to Panama? Let's hope the Obamas keep to the high ground, as they have, and just ignore all this. And the rest of us can watch this free bizarre entertainment. With Sheen, Palin, Bachman, O'Donnell, Trump, and the rest of these rocket surgeons - the real comedians may lose jobs!

I think it is great that Donald Trump has the courage and leadership to investigate this issue once and for all no matter where the chips may fall. There is enough information out in the public realm that the majority of us have grave doubts about Obama as a poser. It is not a black thing or a white thing; it is the right thing to finally know the truth and whether the political Democratic machinery of Washington DC is so corrupt that they willing sat by and let the Constitution of the United States be shredded. The CNN poll is bogus, because you had to read the article the poll is posted with or you miss out on voting. CNN do you have Cass Sunstein or one of his cohorts working behind the scenes for you?
Maybe Trump will do more investigating than the media has done.

Why not look in to it? When I got a job that required me to travel over seas I had to get mine to get a passport. He got a passport to go overseas as a student...what did he show then? LET'S SEE IT !
20% of the country believes the Sun revolves around the Earth (no joke). Therefore it is likely to assume these same people make up the vast majority of these birthers.
I hope Trump also investigates every other candidate running for president as well. Because I find it very suspicious that Trump is investigating the only black person running in the 2012 race.
