Palin gives Trump some verbal support on birther issue

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin supported Donald Trump's decision to hire investigators to examine President Barack Obama's birth, but stopped short of embracing the birther wave.

"I appreciate that the Donald wants to spend his resources in getting to the bottom of something that so interests him and many Americans. You know, more power to him," Palin said Saturday on Fox News. "He's not just throwing stones from the sidelines, he's digging in, he's paying for researchers."

Trump's media rampage over the president's birthplace continued Sunday in an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," where he once again implored the president to produce his birth certificate. Thursday on NBC, the real estate mogul said he sent a team of investigators to Hawaii.

In 2008, the Obama campaign released a copy of the certificate, saying the serial number was blacked out for concern over Hawaiian procedure. Since then, many news organizations and the Annenberg Fact Check Project saw the original with the serial number, an embossed seal and a stamped signature.

But when asked about her views on the issue, Palin said she thinks the president was born in Hawaii.

"Well, you know, I think that he was born in Hawaii because there was a birth announcement put in the newspaper," Palin said. "But obviously if there's something there that the president doesn't want people to see on that birth certificate that he's going to great lengths to make sure it isn't shown. And that's kind of perplexing for a lot of people."

I hate to say it but after two years and refuting the various accusations (including by the supreme court) I am beginning to wonder if these guys would have been so vehement if Obama was white. The first year, nah it was just politics. The second year, it was getting a bit much but I accepted it as 'anti-socialism"' based.

But now its neither. At least Bush/Gore had voting problems. I really dont know why Trump even bothered to talk about the issue not to mention hiring investigators. It hurts him more than it helps him. A rich white quasi-businessman who has decided to thrust himself into a bogus issue. Sarah on the other hand has always been a bit loony and latched onto the terrorism charges for the same reason. The "fist-bump" as some kind of terrorism signal? Really? No... just part of black culture. And maybe that scares them.

Now Palin is running neck and neck in a Stupid Contest with Donald Trump. She should know it is not a winnable situation because they are both in a 3 way tie with "The Fig of Newt" Gingrich on the reality show "Stupid Gone Wild"

What a great Republican ticket. Trump Palin in 2012. But Trump has to post his original birth certificate yet. If he already did, I didn't have a glimpse of it yet.

You know, the President and his mom had to move around during his childhood so much, and through these moves it's possible, but hopefully not, that he lost his original birth certificate. I am sure a whole lot of Americans can relate to this. Assuming it's the case, that's why you have the birth registry (and the US is good at keeping records) so that you can get a copy when you need it , and the State of Hawaii has provided a certification that his birth is registered. I don't understand what's the point of asking for an original when an Agency keeping the records has already certified that such birth exists. Hawaii just had a Republican governor, maybe he could have sneaked in and viewed the original. LOL. But maybe he wouldn't apart from being illegal, he's not as nuts as Trump Palin.

Which part of this reasoning do the birthers don't understand? Only the wackos and nuts would insists is seeing the original. Thank God there are just a few of them. It's very entertaining in the beginning but it's getting annoying as this drags on.

This is what the politics of the country have come to. One idiot supporting another on a ridiculous non-issue. Palin and Trump, why don't you tell us how you plan to run the country and stop with the smoke and mirrors for the extremists.

If you are limited in your knowledge and intelligence, you can say 'Birther." If Palin and Trump are that we have, God help us all.

CNN, why are you keeping Palin relevant even though she's toxic, divisive, and hateful? Is there anything she could possibly do for us that could move us forward in a positive way? No. So please, stop. Haven't we been through enough of her brand of hate?

Is everyone and his brother going to suddenly decide to run for president in 2012? What the H- qualifies Trump, Palin,
Bachman, etc. etc. to even think about such a move? Their stupidity is so blatant, they spend their time on ridiculous things
such as the "birther" issue, they have nothing whatsoever to say about the condition the country is in, and they sound like
a SNL skit when they talk. What is HAPPENING to this country when there are so many idiots running around shouting
    their mouths off? It's pathetic.

This is beyond stupid. Palin and Trump are looking like idiots. I hope the Repubs don't embrace these 2. The GOP will be a joke.

@Seatle Voter – I get it. Corporate owned media has to keep us distracted with all the shiny objects in order to keep us deflected from real issues, that their owners as well as the politicians who are enblers are redirecting all the money upwards. Socialism for the rich, no crumbs for the rest of us. Lovely.

The only reason why this "birther" crap is an issue is because the media outlets keep running it through the news cycles. If the media actually read comments like this and the others and realized that people don't care about the birther stuff, then why even give Donald Trump the time of day...It's a dead issue, let it rest.

In 2012 its going to be Trump and Palin, he always has good choices in his women, against Obama and Hillary. And the winner is Obama and Hillary.

Jeremy – spot on. I'm a Mom and a natural born US citizen. I could have had either or both of my children in any country in the world and they would still be natural born American citizens. They may have even had a dual citizenship depending on which country I had them in.

I thought she was stepped down from politics and now she is giving Trump support. Why do you guys even waste your time bombarding the public with so much sense and adding more fire to the issue. Mr. trump could not even show his birth certificate but he is questioning the legitimacy of our presidents birth place. CNN should com up with politics people can relate to and what is good for the country. I thought she disappeared from the public view and saved us from ignorance and now she is back and I hope it is for a short time.

This is the first procedure in the long-planned lobotomy of the American public sponsored by the Koch Bros. and Faux News. Why is the right wing trying so hard to turn our political system into the National Enquirer version of Britney Spears and Charlie Sheen??? Presumably because they are incapable of dealingl with serious issues like war, energy, population growth, environment, etc. ?? Do Sarah Palin's fans wear bibs to catch the drool that drips out of their mouths while they're watching Faux.

Sure gets old fast listening to everyone talk about how stupid everyone is when not one person can produce an actual legitimate record of birth for Obama. If the only thing liberals can do is call everyone stupid surely makes this arguement is so stale. Do they not have any birth records of their own. Do they not have a file on stuff like that. Do they just throw paperwork like that away. If they really want to make Conservatives look stupid show us something that proves we're stupid. So far they just sound like we should all shred important documents like a birth certificate since they don't matter anyways.

If PALIN truly believes that President Obama was born in Alaska – she would have stated that the so-called DONALD is barking up the wrong tree and wasting his money because he will NOT find anything that states differently. She's agreeing with the notion that President Obama paid "millions" to keep people from seeing his certificate therefore, there must be something he is "hiding". GIVE ME A BREAK "PA'IN IN THE NECK!!!!!!"

    OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!!!
