Trump talks birthers, White House adviser predicts his failure

Washington (CNN) - Real estate mogul Donald Trump kept up his birther blasts Sunday, while one White House adviser hoped his stock continues to rise.

Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Trump called the situation surrounding President Obama’s birth certificate “very strange,” lamenting the negative connotation attached to “birthers.”

“The fact is nobody has any information. And his people in the United States don’t even know which hospital. His relatives don’t even know which hospital he was born in,” Trump told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley. “It’s a very strange situation, that’s all I can tell you. And you know, it’s a very sad thing because the people, the birthers, they got labeled and they got labeled so negatively and even the word birther is a negative word.”

In 2008, the Obama campaign released a copy of the certificate, saying the serial number was blacked out for concern over Hawaiian procedure. Since then, many news organizations and the Annenberg Fact Check Project saw the original with the serial number, an embossed seal and a stamped signature.

But that remains insufficient for the “Celebrity Apprentice” star who again said: “Why doesn’t he show is birth certificate,” before insisting he’d rather talk about other issues facing the United States.

“I don’t like to talk about this issue too much, because I really would rather talk about China, I would really rather talk about what OPEC is doing to destroy us, I would really rather talk about other things,” Trump said.

While the potential 2012 presidential contender continues to make the television rounds with his new mantra, White House senior adviser David Plouffe dismissed Trump’s rhetoric, saying it would not impact the overall 2012 race for the White House.

“There may be a small part of the country that believes these things, but mainstream America thinks it’s a sideshow,” Plouffe said on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday. “That’s not leadership, that’s a kind of a sideshow behavior.”

Plouffe also predicted a negative future for Trump in the presidential field.

“I saw Donald Trump kind of rising in the polls. Given his behavior, and the spectacle of the last couple weeks, I hope he keeps on rising,” Plouffe said. “There is zero chance that Donald Trump would ever be hired by the American people to do this job.”

May Palin will be his running mate. I can't believe people like that still get air time when serious issues need to be discussed. I saw him ranting on CNN and changed the channel.

“The fact is nobody has any information."

You do realize, The Donald, that the more you spout this nonsense, the more ridiculous you look? President Obama's citizenship was researched and verified a long time ago by the State of Illinois, as well as those federal agencies tasked to confirm citizenship when he announced his candidacy for President.

In addition, the GOP, with it's millions upon millions of dollars and hundreds upon hundreds of lawyers, were not able to find any information to prove your ridiculous claim – when in 2008, more than anything, they wanted to defeat then-candidate Obama in the presidential election.

You may appeal to the ignorant, fearful GOP base, but Democrats and Independents see through your BS to the pathetic little man you are.

Trump is the latest foot soldier in the GOP's war of distraction to stir up their "base" and avoid the reality that REPUBLICAN FAILED POLICIES are what nearly brought down the global financial markets and drove our country into a ditch.

Trump is beginning to look like Sarah Palin in an Armani suit. Only with a more uncontrollable gab. Someone should tell this
loose cannon that a lot of people are rich, or have decent money. Its not like in the old days where only one man was king
of the hill and everyone else had to kow-tow to him. He needs to learn that with supposed "wealth", there should also be class.
And the more Donald Trump talks, the more he is showing he has none. I've lost total respect for him.

This guy reminds me of those gay bashing zealots who often turn out to be gay themselves. I think I'll laugh myself to a comma if we found out that Trump was born in Dubai or somewhere other than the US.

Ya, Trump would be awful, you can tell by his level of success that he has no idea what the American Dream is all about. Maybe we need someone like Trump that knows how to make money instead of squander it. I think we can all agree that anyone in their right mind would just whip out the birth certificate and move on. What a bunch of mindless idiots people have become. "One measure of leadership is the caliber of people who choose to follow you."

With all the issues facing us, I can't believe Trump is focusing on the birther issue instead of the things we really need to focus on. He says he'd rather talk about other things - I don't think so....I think this is sensationalist, and he likes to create controversy. He can't talk about the real issues.....

the more they put a mike in his face, the more the stupid will come out. The "Donald" is soaking all this stuff up you can bet, but I have yet to see a lot of these interviewers really call him out on a lot of this foolishness like the lie he told of Obama's grandmother saying he was born in Kenya. That has been proven to be an outright untruth yet they don't call him out on it. Is it true Obama has spent 2 million dollars to cover this up? I don't think so..another falsehood spread by the far right. The danger in this of course is that there are the birhters and other mis informed righties that will believe anything this joker says. Called playing to the choir.

Donald Trump should really think about what is he saying. I don't care where Obama was born, but i do care about the problems in America. Donald shut up, and you will never be the president of United States. Donald should focus on the problems we are facing right now!!!!. He is a failure, and he will never get my vote. He is an ignorant racist failure!!!!

What a sad excuse for a human being. And, if the President were pure white, none of this would be happening. Hey, go searching for McCain's certificate... yeah, didn't think so. What has America come to? And about those awful negative ads ag. the President - ignoring them is one thing, but also point-by-point rebuttal? But those people would know what a rebuttal means, and wouldn't understand intelligent ads. Or – how about some dumbed-down pro-President ads?

Donald Trump has me convinced that he is a complete idiot. He says he doesn't want to talk about "birthism" and then he keeps talking about it. Anybody who votes for him should be bagged and tagged. He is a fool. Repeat: He is a fool. Anybody who invests money with Donald Trump is also a fool.

Boycott all things associated with Donald Trump. That is the answer. Do not do anything that will further give him money. It is obvious that facts are disregarded if they prove the president's citizenship.

I don't understand why this is still a talking point at all. The most obvious response is not that he has a birth certificate, but rather that it does not matter if he was born in the United States or not. His mother is an American Citizen and therefore so is he. United States Code title 8 Chapter 12 Subchapter 11 section 1401 states "The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:... (g) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years:" End of discussion.

The "Donald" and "Birthers" are WAY OFF BASE on their citizenship issues. *I* was born in Hawaii and the "Certificate of Live Birth" he discusses IS THE STANDARD BIRTH CERTIFICATE issued by the State of Hawaii. The Certificate that was shown on the program (I believe from the Internet) appears to be a CORRECT and VALID Birth Certificate from the State. No signature(s) is/are contained on the front of the certificate. There is an embossed State seal, and a Stamped signature on the BACK from the Clerk attesting to the fact that it is a true and correct copy!

I agree with Donald. If the President would show his birth certificate the question will go away.

It is the only way Trump can even stay relevant...it is the only way people even talk about him...

...maybe people should look into Trumps background and start bringing up his bankruptcies, there are certain jobs you can't have if you've had a bankruptcy...
