D.C. mayor released early Tuesday

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Washington Mayor Vincent Gray was released early Tuesday after being arrested while protesting outside the Capitol, police said.

Gray's daughter, attorney Jonice Gray Tucker, paid his $50 "collateral" so that he could be released. according to the mayor's communication director.

The U.S. Capitol Police arrested 41 people Monday outside the Hart Senate Office Building, charging them with unlawful assembly, according to Sgt. Kimberly Schneider.
Schneider said Gray will have to appear in court to face the misdemeanor charge.

Gray and other city council members joined protesters asking for freedom to spend District money. The budget deal negotiated between the White House and congressional leaders last week would keep the District from spending its money to provide abortions for low-income women.

In a tweet Monday, Gray said, "I am calling on all residents of DC to join us NOW at the Hart Senate Office Building to stand for our freedom!"

Later Monday he tweeted, "Getting arrested on the Hill for DC autonomy @DCVote."

The abortion rider also included money to restart the city's school voucher program, which was previously cut.

DC is in the world of taxation without representation and caught with being represented by other states' Dems in Congress. The reps and the president are both spineless against the Repubs, so it's understandable while the DCers are frustrated.

What could be sadder...No taxation without representation and you arrest the mayor of a city that Republicans think is theirs

Are you kidding me??? Freedom? He wants freedom? OK, go pay for your abortion yourself...you are perfectly FREE to do so. How does the current budget limitation affect FREEDOM...or is he saying that he wants to live for FREE off of others....? Ahhhh, now I think i get it. Sad state of affairs when we protest for more welfare money under the auspices of Freedom! Get a clue Mayor Gray.
