Boehner calls on Obama to explain 'pace' of Afghan withdrawal
(CNN) - U.S. House Speaker John Boehner wrapped up a two-day trip to Afghanistan Wednesday with a demand that President Barack Obama explain how the "pace and scope" of a planned U.S. troop withdrawal will not undermine the country's fragile security gains.
The president has repeatedly said he is confident the United States can meet a self-imposed deadline to begin bringing U.S. troops back from Afghanistan in July without compromising Afghan security, though military commanders and government officials have raised concern about the readiness of Afghan security forces.

Obama is as clueless on military strategy as he is on financial matters. I'm sure he'll blather something about Bush, blah, blah, blah. His strategy in Libya is totally incoherent. It is getting painful to hear him speak on these issues. He's the best thing to happen to our enemies in a long time.

Its always funny to me how Boehner has made his duties in his first months as Speaker to do everything except create jobs...but that isn't my bigest objection to the whole situation. We are way to involved in int'l affairs as it is and Afghanistan much like Iraq needs to gradually come to an end. Polticially Obama will probably look to end both Iraw and Afghanistan before the 2012 elections...good luck hoping he slips up against any of these 2012 GOPers...Obama will be our president for a 2nd term the sooner we accept it the better off we ALL will be.

Unemployment dropped to 8.8% in March, 2011, according to figures released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on April 1, 2011. That marks the fourth month in a row that the national unemployment rate has decreased. The steady decline has brought unemployment down to rates not seen since early 2009.

personally, i do not mind boehner visiting afghanistan; but, i wonder where is all the republican / tea party outrage is about the spending (wasting) of tax payer dollars on this trip?

Boehner can not even balance and has the audacity to spend tax payers money to go to Afghanistan and ask the president about troop withdrawal. If he thinks we have made progress he must be dreaming. He has to understand that the country is divided into tribal sections and will be hard to govern under one government. Our foreign politics should involve the mediation with all parties not with the government of our liking. That is why we create alienation and unfavorable sentiment for our interference in there day to day politics. These is the twentieth century country's / people are getting politically engaged on a different levels and are not laying there weapons down and the playing fields have changed. Here he is having a problem to meet the president half way to balance the countries budget but he goes across the world to Afghanistan to show his face. Iraq has taught us a lesson that there security forces will still be no match to the insurgents as it will be the case in Afghanistan. So lets do what is needed here at home and lets not be an expert in international politics when he could not even solve our own internal problem.
