CNN Poll of Polls: President's approval rating declining

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama's job approval rating among Americans is edging down, according to an average of the most recent national polls.

A CNN Poll of Polls compiled and released Friday indicates that 45 percent of the public say they approve of the job the president's doing in the White House, with 48 percent saying they disapprove of how Obama's handling his duties.

This latest edition of the CNN Poll of Polls is an average of three national surveys conducted within the past week: ABC/Washington Post (April 14-17), CBS/New York Times (April 15-20) and the Gallup Tracking Poll (April 18-20). The CNN Poll of Polls does not have a sampling error.

The 45 percent approval rating is down from a 52 percent approval rating in a CNN Poll of Polls from mid-January, which was the high point so far this year for the president's approval numbers.

The new approval rating figures come as four national polls conducted this month indicate that pessimism on the direction the country's headed is on the rise. Survey's from CBS/New York Times, McClatchy/Marist, Reuters/Ipsos, and NBC Wall Street Journal all indicate that the percentage of Americans who think the country's headed in the wrong direction is on the rise, hitting 70 percent in the CBS/New York Times poll.

All these surveys come as gas prices are soaring, and as partisan battles over the budget and the nation's massive deficit are raging.

Does it surprise anyone that the majority in the country are now able to see thorugh this weak, clueless, incompetent, idiot that is renting our White House until 2012--when he will be evicted. Go to the Real Clear Politics site to see Obama's Approval/Disapproval numbers. Real Clear Politics takes the numbers from all polls and comes up with an average. Obama is falling faster than a lead balloon. Obama ONE AND DONE!!! Mitt Romney and Marco Rubio in 2012!!

Nobody EVER polls me. Obama has my support 110% and please print that CNN. The Fox News – Facts Don't Matter – negative hate machine & entourage is always trying to be pessimistic. Let's not get too carried away with the spin jobs on polls.

My approval of our President hasn't changed since I've voted for him...in fact, it's gotten stronger because of all the bs the media, the right wing and disgusting Tea Party has put this wonderful President through!...there's a silent type out here not taking your stupid polls, so trust he WILL win re-election!

Why does no one call anyone I know? It really does not matter....He is one man that can only do so much without congress. He deserves and will get 4 more years.

If he quit caving in to the GOP his rating would improve. I'm tired of him caving in to the GOP and if asked I woud say I disapprove too, but I'm still going to vote for him over anyone the GOP has to offer because they show time and time again they care only for their wealthy supporters and everyone else be damned..

We may not approve but if he is better than the alternative he will still win re-election. Give us a real choice or we will go with the predictable instead of the unknown.

CNN, do you take a poll everyday? You know we all are used to instant gratification. We want all our problems solved yesterday and are not used to waiting for anything. That's why our economy is such a mess, bigger cars, bigger houses, keeping up with the Smiths. We don't want to work like our parents did and plan, we want everything now.
    Happy Easter everyone.

Yeah, for now, but wait until they get a chance to compare hime to the GOPers looking to replace him. He won't seem so bad then. We just need a voter turnout above 58 % then it is clear sailing.

  11. NOBAMA 2012!

The only way that they even reached 45% of people approving must have been because they called CNN and MSNBC posters only. There is no way anyone can continue defend what this man has done in office as good, no possible way to say he has done anything that has helped America. Next time poll some Americans, not just the zombies from CNN and MSNBC, because there is no way that 45% of this country still believes Obama is doing a good job, because he has done everything but that.

President Obama Is doing a good Job, If you look what was left by President BUSH and no help from the Republican. he does have America moving forward. The First two Years all Republican say was no. But yet you people put the Republican In Control of the House with about 50 TEA PARTY nut cases for just saying no to everything. Now all they want to do Is HELP THE RICH AND BIG BUSINESS than mean OIL COMPANY. It pretty bad When the Democrats was in Control ,gas prices were down. Than you put Republican In control of the House and they Extend the BUSH tax cut and now they have the Paul Ryan so call plan and again the want to extend the BUSH TAX CUT. And take away from the POOR AND THE OLD. So If you want to blame someone blame the IDIOT who voted for Republican and the TEA PARTY member In 2010. That when thing started to go up. Reminder what the Top Republican keep saying that they are going to do what ever they have too to make President Obama a one term President. So they talk to there Big Oil COMPANY Buddy and Oil prices go up and everybody what to blame President Obama. American people keep voting for Republican and tea party people and the Middle class ,the Poor and the OLD will end up with nothing.

We're being punk'd with all these polls just to get ratings. Just like CNN is being punk'd by Trump for free ads for his "freak show".

We're a stupid people. In spite of a worthless Congress and the steaming pile of crap George Bush left behind, President continues to provide thoughtful and mature leadership. The Tea Party types would prefer that America fail.

I'm dissatisfied. You want my vote in 2012? Keep your campaign promises!
    1. Pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan
    2. Repeal the Bush Tax cuts (especially on Capital Gains!)

Those 2 items would go a long way toward fixing the deficit.

Given what he has to work with (fractured Democrats after his election, the Republicans who don't want to give him the time of day and can't think about the future, and a lousy economy partly created by his predecessor among other things like two unpaid for wars), he's doing okay. It would be nice for him to have done more that would be unrealistic. Things don't move as fast as we would like or too fast for our liking as well.

I am 50 years old, I have never been phoned, emailed, or stopped on the street and asked to participate in one of these polls. Who decides who gets asked? Who decides how to phrase the questions? I have about as much faith in any of these polls as I do in my unemployed step-son to find a job and stop asking for money. I hope it will happen, but I ain't counting on it.

"You can fool some of the people all of the time ... and, you can fool all of the people some of the time ... but, you can't fool all of the people all of the time"
America is finally waking up to Obama's B. S. !!!

No surprise. He has neglected his position since day 1. Spending his 1st year shoving and campaigning a Health Care "Bill" that most Americans did not want and demanding trillions to bail out failed Corporations. "Had to pass it to see what is in it", according to Polosi on the Health Care debauchery. Now he spends all his time campaigning and vacationing on Tax Payer money. Demanding thousands per plate to attend an event. Ironic that these are the people, who can afford to participate, that he calls "greedy and selfish". 2012 can not come soon enough.

OK – That was last week. What about next week. These polls are coming out everyday; every hour. They're up they're down; they're for the Dems; they're for the Repubs!!! Geez! Why can't we reduce these things to once a month!! I can't keep track of how I'm supposed to be feeling!!

Obama's approval rating declining, Romney will beat Obama big, Racist email shows Obama is an ape. Negative story followed by another. CNN is against Obama. You can't hide it. I know you might say, CNN is reporting the news, but this is not the case.
You have more negative news about Obama than FOX. It really sad and your bias shows.
