Bloomberg: Stop the birther talk
Washington (CNN) - Republicans will suffer electorally if they continue to fan the flames of the so-called "birther" debate instead of focusing on the economy, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Sunday.
"I think the Republicans are making a terrible mistake in making this a big issue," Bloomberg, an independent, said on "Fox News Sunday." "We have the deficit. We have the economy. Those are the things that the public cares about."
"If the Republican Party doesn't start addressing that, they will lose and they deserve to," he added.
Even though he called Donald Trump, who has become a champion of the birther movement, a "friend" and "New York icon," Bloomberg wouldn't say whether or not he takes Trump's presidential flirtations seriously.
"Look, anybody can run for president if you're 35 and an American citizen and born here," Bloomberg said, before adding that President Barack Obama was born in the United States too.

Um, Mayor Bloomberg you don't have the economy. The last time your party was in charge we were in recession and losing 700,000 jobs a month Bush's last month in office. We have now had 12 consecutive months of private sector job growth and have been pulled out of the recession seeing growth in several quarters in a row. You really don't even have the deficit. Bill Clinton and the Democrats have the deficit issue. He handed your party 3 consecutive balanced budgets. Your party insisted on tax cuts that went mostly to the wealthy in 2001 and 2003 and we have been in deficit mode since. You don't really have anything at all unfortunately.
Let the Birthers keep talking. As a Democrat, I am loving it!

Birfers are deluded into a fantasy that a magic document can erase the Obama Presidency. How stupid and foolish their claims are doesn't matter they are in love with their mental illness. Christ will arise one day! The Kenyan Long Form will save us!
I know who is obsessed with the birther talk it is the liberal and the liberal reporter that keep carping on it. Pathetic. Last night I heard Obama say "you need to tell people who drive SUV that get 8 miles to the gallon to stop sending money to people who don't like us". So now he blames the US voter with a truck for terrorism. What a jerk, what a blow hard as he jets around the world.
Creating reality is the right-wing's favorite tool. Their comments are "Never intended to be Factual".
I have my original birth certificate with my footprints on it issued by the hospital. Although it might dignify the birther nutcases more than they are worth, if Obama has a similar document he could release it to end all doubt, or perhaps authorize Hawaii to allow access to the original document in their custody. Even if The Donald's investigators come up with some good stuff next week, it is probably too late to start the cumbersome political and judicial processes to throw Obama out before 2013. Instead, vote early and vote often.
This birther thing is a diversion, a smokescreen to get people away from the fact that the Republicans now in power in the House have done nothing to create the jobs they promised they would pre-election.
Once Trump reveals the "results" of his private investigation on Obama's birth place–that Obama indeed was born in Hawaii. Trump's popularity and media attention will disappear. He is only a novelty while he panders to the fringe birther movement.
It seems obvious that the republicans are protecting the advantages of the "special interests" and all millionairs and billionairs at the expense and sacrifices of the Middle Class.
The American media is cancerous,.. instead of covering and reporting real news, they give lunatics and clowns air time and a platform for espousing ridiculous claims,.. and of course the gullible and the stupid electorate jump on the bandwagon. Enough of the circus,.. quit creating monsters and phony personas. The responsability of reporting real news and facts should be taken seriously, and not treat it as tabloid entertainment.
I don't know anyone who is conservative that believes Obama is NOT a natural born American. The only people blowing this out of porportion is the media and of course that clown Trump. The media has a vested interest in convincing Americans that conservatives buy into this stuff. It drives a wedge between independents and Republicans.
Obama's sister has the same Cert of Birth from Hawaii and she was born in INDONESIA so dont think that its impossible for Obama to be foreign born . It is possible and the more he refuses to show the long form the more the public will distrust him.... and what about the Connecticut Social Security number – thats a FELONY. The Republicans need to investigate him and put the pressure on like the Democrats did with Nixon. Instead, they are wimps who blindly accept Obama';s word. He hasn't kept his word on much in case you haven't been noticing..
