GOPers react to Obama's birth certificate

(CNN) - Republicans are reacting on Twitter and via statements to President Obama’s surprise release of his birth certificate Wednesday:

Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor
@SarahPalinUSA Media: admit it, Trump forced the issue. Now, don't let the WH distract you w/the birth crt from what Bernanke says today. Stay focused, eh?

Mitt Romney, former and likely presidential candidate
@MittRomney What President Obama should really be releasing is a jobs plan

Republican National Committee
@RNCResearch Obama's release of his birth cert. is a nice, but temporary distraction for him from high gas prices & a terrible economy

Michael Steel, spokesman to House speaker John Boehner, in a statement:
"This has long been a settled issue. The Speaker’s focus is on cutting spending, lowering gas prices, and creating American jobs.”

Tony Fratto, former Bush press secretary
@TonyFratto So the President is playing his Trump card

Mike Murphy, GOP strategist
@murphymike Now... Do I get to see Trump's income tax returns? Say, last ten years?

So let me get this straight – the GOPers are now saying that instead of releasing his long form birth certificate, despite the President's rationale being that the media is focusing too much on this birther issue and not enough on the important issues, he should be focusing on the important issues...? Really?

How about I give a recommendation of my own? Let's stop focusing on making President Barack Obama out to be a terrible man and focus on coming together – Democrats, Republicans, and everyone in between – on getting the United States back to where it should be and realize that with everything going on (not only in our country but in the world), there are going to be bumps in the road. Even a great man like President Barack Obama cannot fix a broken financial/health system and still tackle the natural disasters and Middle East revolutions in the three years he's been in office. But he can and has done a lot for this country and does continue to fight for this country. I hope to see another four years because he's not finished yet! OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!

I see that the rethugs, after witching and lying about this since 2008, still can't stop holding the grudge.
Did boner cry because now they have to focus on real issues while they still don't have solutions or job creation?
I see the bimbo from AK had to say something and cnn, the fools, just couldn't pass it up. It,s bee how long without any stupid fart thought from this woman?
BTW – is she now Canadian with the "eh"? You are done bimbo, get lost for real. Nobody would care or try to find you!!!!!!
You are the one who lives in constant distraction of how stupid you really and truly are.

Mitt: Any time you or your repubs want to release a jobs plan, you are welcome to do so. It isn't only obama who can make actual proposals to do something, and republcans can do things other than criticize the president. Of course, that would require you all to do some actual work, or stand behind your policies. That isn't working out so well for you after the Ryan plan to kill medicare, is it?

This is just so ridiculous, republicans have been proven wrong so what do they do, find something else to complain about. Well now that republicans can no longer hold onto this, do you think they will focus on jobs.... my guess is a big fat NO

Anyone who seeks out Gary Busey's company or services, should be admitted...good tv or not, it is a mental health risk. And every time I see Trump's head I'm reminded to dust the top of my ceiling fan. What a circus.

It just amazes me that people like Palin and Romney will say stupid things knowing darn well they are wrong. This is why Palin has now become a "non-mother f'ing-factor" with her silly comments. Trump didn't force no issue here with the bc bull$hit because it started long ago with her and her ilk. Trump just made his self look like a damn fool. And if anybody is destroying this country, it's people like Palin and the gop party as well as their followers including the so-called teaparty. I've never seen so much hate, jealousy, slander, backbiting, and divisiveness, to name a few, since President Obama took office. This is nothing but pure hatred towards Obama all because of the color of his skin. And if anybody in their right mind can't see that, then you are delusional and deceived into believing otherwise.

Funny how these neanderthals screamed for 2+ years for BO to produce his BC....and now that he does, they aren't interested in the least.

Q: Can these Republicans be any more sophomoric than they already are?

    A: Ya' sure, you betcha'!

Oh how I love the GOP faliing backwards over themselves to get out of this ditch. Obama has played them skillfully and they all look like fools. Truth be told the republicans have done NOTHING to add new jobs to this economy, oil prices are set by the global market and thus no one can do anything about that, the record deficit and debt was caused by republicans during the Bush years, and the rich and super rich are kissing the republicans toes for looking out for them, screw the rest of us!!!

sarah sarah sarah........ go home. Stay there. Enjoy the millions you've made off the lemings.

Y'all get what you asked for (and look like the fools most of us knew you are) and still you try to get another pound of flesh – donald says the world is laughing at us – and this is why. These are the very folks who think they can run a country as great as the United States of America? It would be funny if it weren't so tragic.

I hate that President Obama released the BC. The truth is that he has given them way more attention and power than any of them deserve. He is the President of the United States. Period. He was vetted the same way all the previous Presidents were. Let them waste time on this non-issue. It only further emphasizes why the thinking people of this country vote Democrat. You have really got to be a silly and shallow individual if you fall for elementary style destraction devices like this. I also hate it when people throw stones and hide their hands. The GOP went headstrong into discrediting President Obama and now that they have been called out, they want to act like it wasn't them that had the issue to begin with. Cowards!

Every Republican will talk about the release of the birth certificate because it is the Republican party that was focused on this issue. Now they will criticize the President for taking time to release this certificate even though each of them has talked about the "birthers" many times and some even appeared to question the President as well.

When will Americans put a stop to all of this. Do we really think this is important.? NO!!!

The birth certificate issue was the first test to the GOP contenders to be. Trump and Sarah have failed completely. Michelle Bachmann has scored half a mark as she fumbled at the beginning. The rest have proved to be good thinkers!

So, this is how the Republicans count wins? Creating jobs? No. Controlling our debt? No. Winning wars? No. Proving that people in the Republican party who insisted Obama wasn't born here – like Trump, who insisted it was obviously a cover-up and that the certificate didn't exist – are nuts? Yes, evidently that's a win for the Republicans. How foolish.

Now every presidential candidate should have his or her birth certificate in public just as they asked of Obama's. No one asked any of previous presidents to do that, however, new precedent has been set now.

In order to show that USA is a nation of fair treatment, the "people" should ask all GOP candidates to release their birth certificates as well.

Ummmm, helloooo, excuse me, Mitt Romney but shouldn't you be telling that to your party who ran on "creating jobs" in the 2010 election but who does not have a clue on creating jobs? No jobs plan whatsoever? And nothing but criticism towards Obama instead? Get the hell outta here! with that lame statement when most Americans know better.

The GOP and it's various idiots DEMAND to see the birth certificate, then when he does show it, they yell "Show us jobs instead of wasting time showing your birth certificate!" It's sad to watch a country that was as great as the US (back in 1776) disintegrate into lunacy because of some bible thumping, uneducated, gun-toting tards. Did Obama cause the recession the moment he took office? Uh no. BUSH, CHENEY and the GOP caused it from 2000-2008, dummies! I know most of the GOP party is old and feeble, but you can't tell me you already forgot about the fake war.
