Obama 'bemused' by birther story

(CNN) - President Barack Obama said Wednesday that he has watched the birther story "with bemusement."

The president said he has "been puzzled" at the staying power of the story. "This thing just keeps on going."

"Normally I would not comment on something like this," Obama said. But the country has pressing fiscal and other priorities, Obama said, and the so-called "birther" story has been a distraction. He made his remarks shortly after his office released his long-form birth certificate.

"We have enormous challenges" to deal with, Obama said. The country will have "important debates" and needs to make critical decisions in the months ahead, but "we're not going to be able to do it if we're distracted."

The president criticized what he characterized as a recent focus on "side shows" and "carnival barkers."

"We do not have time for this kind of silliness," he said.

This incident will go down in history as one of the those moments that we look back on with embarassment and disgrace. The first Black President of the US HAD TO RERELEASE his birth certificare so that people would acknowledge what us sane people have always known to be true. People this should be a wake up call...what does this say when we allow a previous president to ruin our economy, start two unfunded wars, give tax breaks to EVERYONE unpaid for and then hand off the job to an eligible candidate and slander him at every turn....truthfully we don't deserve Obama in office after the way he and his family has been treated by our own citizens....SUCH A DISGRACE

Some asked why did he take so long to do this, very simple, it was silly, and..... do you really want the president to be giving speeches about his birth certificate?
I guess the next thing "the crazies" want him to proof is that he is a Christian.
The attacks on him will never stop!!, Rush Limbaugh spends 3 hours a day attacking our president, Fox News, 24 hours a day, Beck, and the list goes on.

When Obama began his quest for the presidency of the US there were immediate curiosities from people of the US who wanted to know who he is. It doesn't take a "right winger" to want to know a potential President of the USA better! As a registered Democrat, I have wondered since first hearing this man's name exactly who he was formerly in his life: what he thought, what he did, what were his former connections, etc. The media of the US has let down the people who pay the bills to watch and hear what the media reporters have to say about a person such as a presidential candidate and media hasn't maintained the pursuit for truth in Obama's case. I would like more information than just the release of Obama's birth certificate (finally) such as what he did in his earlier years. His continued secrecy on his own history makes me wonder if he simply threw the birth certificate out to the people of the US as fodder, just to keep us busy? or entertained? & to keep our minds off what else he is hiding that he doesn't want to talk about in the news today!

...And lastly, the President will be vindicated of all the disrespect that has been heaped on him from before he took office and was made to reside in a HOTEL with his family as opposed to moving into the residence customarily used by Presidents elect before moving into the White House, when he wins a well deserved second term in the White House.
I sincerely believe that Obama's second term will give us a more incisive look into what makes this man 'tic' than we've been privy to heretofore.

It is sad that the President had to put out the certificate for all to see since the information has been out there for all to see before this time. At least he showed how ridiculous Trump and the birthers are, as if we didn't know that already. Everything is being thrown at this President and there are enough serious problems that need addressing. But maybe that is their intent - to give themselves a recognizable name and to divert the President's attention to more important matters that affect every US citizen.

Did Trump got him to do it?...please.
He did it on his own, for those thinking that Trump is relevant to the conversation, two words: Sarah Palin, everyone thought she was the second coming of Christ.

Why did the doctor sign the form 4 days after Obama's birth? There's something fishy here.
