White House releases Obama's birth certificate
(CNN) - President Obama released his original birth certificate Wednesday, saying the controversy surrounding the issue had become a "sideshow."
“We do not have time for this kind of silliness. We’ve got better stuff to do," said Obama.
The surprise release follows recent and sustained remarks by businessman Donald Trump, among others, that raised doubts as to whether the president was born in the United States.
“Over the last two and half years, I have watched with amusement. I have been puzzled with the degree with which this thing just kept going,” Obama told reporters Wednesday.
Responding to the development, Trump said, "I have accomplished something nobody else has accomplished."
"I want to look at it, but I hope it’s true," he told reporters in New Hampshire. "He should have done it a long time ago. I am really honored to have played such a big role in hopefully getting rid of this issue."
Earlier Wednesday, White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said the debate has been "really bad for the Republican Party."
The so-called "birther" debate is "good politics" but "bad for the country," said Pfeiffer.
In an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper Monday, Trump repeated his doubts and said he had been told the certificate was "missing."
A new CNN investigation revealed earlier this week what most analysts have been saying since the "birther" controversy erupted during the 2008 presidential campaign: Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.
While the president has made light of the controversy, the question remained political red meat for some of his critics. A recent CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll showed that nearly 75% of Americans believe Obama was definitely or probably born in the United States. More than four in 10 Republicans, however, believe he probably or definitely was not born in America.

The U.S. Constitution says only "natural born" citizens can become president - a vague clause that some members of the birther movement contend disqualifies Obama because, they insist, he was born outside the United States.
Skeptics contend, among other things, that Obama was born in his father's home country of Kenya.

The real story is, and always has been , Mr. Obama's social security number..042-68-4424. If he was born in Hawaii, how in the world does he have a ss# that is prefixed for those born in the state of CT? Look at his tax returns, you will see he Omits it, which is odd for a sitting president. And, when asked by a reporter, his pres secretary Gibbs got jello mouth. 042...please debunk it. Hawaii's is 575, & 576. He purposely created the birth cert drama, when many questioned and still continue to ask about the social security discrepency.
This proves that he is not a natural born citizen. To be a natural born citizen, you have to have two American parents and be born in the United States or it territory. Anyone can fake a birth certificate, this was not even a good job, I have seen the birth certificate of a girl born August 5th 1961 and her certificate has a serial number that is lower than Obama's. The paper this is printed on was not available in 1961 and the term African under race of father was not in use yet in 1961 In our family the term used is Negroid. Sorry this is just another fake document Obama has has made. It the records were searched, you would find a baby who died at child birth who was assigned the certificate number that is on Obama's fake.
It is amazing in this country that if someone is even the smallest amount negro mixed with Caucasian they are still classified as black (of course, the color in reality is a wierd shade of dark brown). This mixture is truly mulatto.

These people just don't like Obama being an intelligent liberal black man so they want to try and find any little thing to nitpick yet they would never do it to a right-winged republican. Infact, if a republican was President right now with the same issue they would be on the opposite side saying how stupid people are. This really is not about where Obama was born people. This is about right-wingers being unhappy that there is a democrat President. It's politics as usual. – Hawaii became a state over a year before he was born.
– EVEN if you were right, EVEN IF, did you knew that they granted people born there up to 60 years (roughly two generations) prior the stateship the US nationality?

Where is the rest of it? Where are the footprintes? Where does it ask Religion? I have never seen a birth certificate from the 1960's that did not include the religion on it.

I feel horrible for our president... no other president had go through all of this bc crap.. and it is ONLY because of the color of his skin that folks needed something to hang on and constantly accuse him of. This should NEVER have been an issue, I would think that there are professional agencies who's main job is to screen each politician and to make sure that they are a legit candidate..who the hell are we as individuals, even Mr. Trump, to demand and question his birthplace.. If we were held to account for this, no one would ever become president.. OMG, there is the FBI, the CIA, and other federal organizations whose job it is to find out this information way back when he decided to run.. He didn't just wake up and become president, you know.. during his political career, and even when he petitioned to run for president, they had to do this.. it is ONLY because he is of color that rednecks keep bringing this up.. they just cannot stand having a president that is not white. I also feel bad because after the mess that mr. Bush left us in, no president is going to fix that, especially not in 4 years.. We, as a nation will NEVER have another black president, you rednecks has successfully scared off any other good black candidates, congrats. The successor to Bush would need AT LEAST a decade to get things right, and no one, white or black, could fix what he broke in one presidential term.
