Perfect. You declared this area a state of emergency, it is fitting that you see for yourself the devastation these storms have incurred, that way you can dial up or down on the amount of aid and manpower needed to help them recover. God forbid you get accused of pulling a "Bush".

Mr. President, just bear in mind the reason George W. Bush overflew NOLA and didn't land. A reason that I happen to agree with. Emergency personnel are being used to help the area recover. Your presence could divert them resources from areas that need it. Your arrival could mean one less rescuer looking for buried survivors.

Bush wisely chose not land in the middle of a search and rescue operation. If you wish to land on the ground, do it outside of the worst hit areas. Do not repeat the mistake that Bush made. Let your decision to avoid interferring with operations be known ahead of time.

Save the PR and photo op that is going to cost millions. Pick up the phone and call the governors and ask them how you can help. THEY are the ones that are on site and know what they need and how you can help. Your presence will only be a distraction.

Thank goodness! Now try to remember not to campaign while you are out there. No fundraisers...or stump speeches. Just survey the damage, figure out how to help the people of Alabama and then get back to the WH to get back to work. Don't make this into a roadshow please.

Obama goes to AL: GOP says he is not focused on jobs, gas prices, or the economy.
Obama does not go to AL: GOP says he doesn't care about the American people.

Okay, now that I have provided their talking points, the GOP members of Congress can all keep their mouths shut and work on the jobs as they promised they would do begining in January.

I'm waiting for some televangelist to say that the tornados prove that God hates Southern Christian Conservatives, just like some said that Katrina was God's rath on New Orleans.
