President Obama's 'gutsy' decision

(CNN) - The decision by President Barack Obama to launch the assault that killed Osama bin Laden was one of the "gutsiest" calls by any president in recent memory, Obama's top counterterrorism adviser said Monday.

John Brennan, assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism, said that despite intelligence indicating that bin Laden was in the compound in Pakistan, there was no certainty the al Qaeda leader was actually there.

Obama "made what I believe was one of the ... gutsiest calls of any president in recent memory," Brennan said.

Brennan called the elimination of Osama bin Laden "a strategic blow" to al Qaeda.

"It is a necessary but not necessarily sufficient blow to lead to its demise," he said.

Is Sarah Palin and Bach is so hateful they cant even congratulate the President. Such kind of hate is not what is needed and they should be ashamed of themselves. Those people are very anti-american

I'm sorry, I can't hear the usual clanging, from the notoriously stupid and racists bells – Palin, Beck, Limbaugh, Trump, Boehner, King, Romeny and a host of others. Where are you, o asinine ones? The news media is usually hanging onto every one of your idiotic words. Where are you now? Do tell!

I knew he had it in him! What a great President. He is careful, calculating and decisive. Thank you President Obama. We know the fight is not over, but for now you've given us the justice we've needed since 9/11.

Damn straight it was gutsy!! And for all those naysayers out there who won't give Obama his props for doing it, just think what these types would have said if GWB or Reagan had pulled this off? They would have lauded him almost as a god. Or, think if this plan to go after Bin Laden had not ended well, such as happened under Carter? The right would have gone absolutely APOPLECTIC!!!!! Right on, Obama! You have my vote in 2012!!

What is so gutsy about ordering the death of a terrorist that is responsible for the lives of thousands of Americans??????

Not surprisingly Newt Gingrich is praising both Obama AND George Bush for bin Laden's capture, even though Bush famously said in March 2002 "I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority". These guys find it so hard to just say a simple, unqualified 'Thank you Mr President" .

I applaud the President's call, but this should be considered the basic business of securing our interests. Too label this as "gutsy" shows how inexperienced, or unconcerned, this administration is. The big praise should go to the teams of professionals who risked their lives to bring it about.

Well done Mr. President, sadly, nothing will deter the ignorant haters. The conspiracy theories will continue.

Poor man looks tired. Reminds me of what I saw in the mirror after the birth of my first child after a long labor. There was a combination of genuine physical fatigue, worry about what ifs, and a realization that life has changed and is never going back to what it once was.

So grateful today for our country & world. The age of ideological, neoconic nonsense is finally coming to an end.

Thank you to our troops, the administration, and President Obama!  You, sir, have earned Americans' respect as our Commander in Chief.

Seven years to get the job done yet Bush couldn't do it. Obama has been in office just a little over half a term and he took out bin Laden.

    Thank you, Mr. President!

I am equally impressed by the President Obama's national security team in keeping their focus for 6 weeks with NO LEAKS, as well as the President's ability to handle the situation so well. Did you see him at the Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday? No one would ever have guessed that less than 12 hours prior had given the OK to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) to take out bin Laden.

I am SO THANKFUL President Obama is our Commander in Chief!

I thought only "He-Man, Macho" cowboys like the Bush/Cheney Draft-Dodgers could handle this hot potato. They're too arrogant from a life of special treatment to even be embarrassed.

I agree. It is amazing how he took all that criticism but kept quite the entire time gathering all the intelligence that was needed. I am sure he wanted to give updates but couldn't or lose the trail if he did. I reminds me of Winston Churchill and the tough choice he had to make saving a town or keeping quiet for the greater good. I find President Obama’s silence extremely Presidential and shows the true character of this President that he is willing to do the hard thing and make the tough choices.

Great News, but I doubt the DNA result. Because, to get the good results of DNA, minimum it will take Three Days, Three Weeks and up to Three Months.

If we are talking about real DNA, Saliva, Hair Sample, Dental test, Blood Test, etc.
It is impossible to get the results of DNA within 24 Hours.

However, it is good to celebrate the deaths of Two Monsters in every Year on May 1st.
Monster #1 Adolf Hitler died May 1st 1945 and
Monster #2 Obama Bin Ladeyn dead May 1st 2011

Mathematically, they are both Christian Enemy.
    2011 – 1945 = 66'6 (May is the 5th Month and Monday is the 1st working Day in Christian Countries. Together 5 + 1 = 6

Well the President has always said that if we had strong intelligence that OBL was in Pakistan that we will go in and that's precisely what happened. That's not gutsy. That's having big cojones and willing to stand up to the Pakistani government. I don't believe for one moment thay didn't know about this fortified mansion.

This president has accomplished more in these short 2.5 years than any president in recent history. Ben Laden evaded GW for all of his 8 years but we sent 4000 of our service men and women to their deaths in two unjust wars to get one man.
Obama got him and how many dies in the process? NONE!!! I'm sure the paid Right wing nut cakes will attribute it all the GW but who got the job done? Who is improving on the mess that was left to all of us? Who is fighting the GOP from taking away our SS and medicare? it sure isn't anyone on the Right!!!!!! Remember that in 2012.

I don't know anyone who isn't thrilled about the death of bin laden, so I'm wondering how in the world one could say it was "gutsy" to ok an operation that would kill the most hated and despised person on the planet?? maybe I'm missing something and it's more than just another brown-nosing assistant to the president.
