Limbaugh: 'Thank God for President Obama'

Washington (CNN)- Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh first heaped praise upon President Obama only to then qualify his remarks during his syndicated daily show Monday after saying, "Thank God for President Obama."

In a veiled critique, Limbaugh first praised Obama's role in the operation against Osama bin Laden, but later turned sarcastically critical.

"I, me, my, three of the most used words in President Obama's media appearance last night, not a single intelligence adviser, not a single national security adviser, military adviser, came up with the idea...not one of them... according to Obama, had the ability to understand the need to get DNA. This was Obama's message last night," Limbaugh said.

He credited Obama with continuing the "Bush policies" of keeping a military presence in the Middle East and refusing to "scrub the mission to get bin Laden" early in his program.

"Ladies and gentleman, we need to open the program today by congratulating President Obama," he said. "President Obama has done something extremely effective, and when he does, this needs to be pointed out."

And Limbaugh seemingly gushed about the commander-in-chief's competency following what he called the "assassination" of Osama bin Laden Sunday.

"You see the military wanted to go in there and bomb, like they always do…But President Obama, perhaps the only qualified member in the room to deal with this, insisted on the special forces," he explained.

"Our military wanted to go in there and just scorch the earth leaving no evidence of anything after the mission. But President Obama single-handedly understood what was at stake here. He alone understood the need to get DNA to prove the death, Obama alone understood the aftermath."

According to Limbaugh, Obama's success must be linked to former President George W. Bush.

"We need to never forget that President Obama deserves praise for continuing the policies established by George W. Bush which led to the learning, the acquisition of this intel that led us to the enlarged hut in Pakistan that led to the assassination of bin Laden last night," he declared.

"Thank God for President Obama. If he had not been there, who knows what would've happened."

Rushy is a non-issue, he's a hypocrit and aloud-mouth jerk. Who cares about well-wishes coming from his lips?

Fox News has been reporting most all of the day that the critical intel came from a Gitmo detainee in 2005.

I guess Dubya was just waiting for the right moment. I also guess that if Fox News says it, it must be true...

Yes, Obama can realistically say Mission Accomplished! Maybe he should dress up like a military man and land on the flight deck of a U.S. naval carrier:)

@ Brandon: we understand sarcasm perfectly well. We just don't hear it often coming from a morbidly obese, narcisistic drug addict who you faithfully pray to every day when you turn on the radio. Its really too bad he can't be sincere, and its too bad you can't be, either. Correction, you are sincere in your hatred, but hate is always easy, so thats why conservatives excel at it.

Republicans are so hateful and evil. You can't stand it, can you, Rush? Everyone who has listened to Rush in the past should stop immediately.

Yes I completely agree with Limbaugh that Obama's policies are just a continuation of Bush. Obama continued the same Middle East policy and the hunt for Bin Laden. He continued Bush's tax cuts and eliminated the drive for governmental health care, instead revising health care law to further privatize the system. He continued Bush's economic policies of hands-off approach to corporations and corporate bailouts. In fact, why the heck does ANY republican criticize Obama for ANY policies when they praised the SAME policies for Bush?

  10. Limbaugh is a liberal

Funny how Limbo criticizes Obama for not emphasizing the intelligence that led to bin Laden's demise, but during the Bush years only laid blame on intelligence for any foul-ups while giving the glory of any victory solely to Bush Jr.

What weird statements from Limbaugh. Half-sneer, half-compliment. Bush had little to do with this.

Trust and believe that the republicans, tea partiers, Limbaugh and all of the other critics of President Obama are thinking of other things to discredit our wonderful President Obama. They are sheep in wolves clothing. A tiger does not change his stripes. They are up to something and I for one am not buying any of their foolishness. These people are just as evil as the terrorist and need to be taken to task for their disrespect not only of the President, but the true American Patriots. I would not care if they dropped off the ends of the earth. Bush did not do jack, but tell lies and steal from the average taxpayers. They know this is a boost for President Obama, and will do anything to tarnish him and his good deeds. The news media needs to be taken to task also for not calling these people out. Even they do not call him President Obama, just Obama. He is your President Of America and you might as well deal with and sit down. If the world were not keeping a close eye on these fools, only Lord knows what these idiots are capable of. I pray for my President everyday because of these idiots. See these people reap what they sow and in due time they will regret all of their actions toward President Obama, because God dooes not like ugly and I do not mean ugly looking. Right now they do not see what is happening to them, but all are falling like dominoes.

  15. You have to hear it

I heard him say all of this today.. The sarcasm in his voice was quite evident... He kept repeating it and I think he kept doing it because he couldn't believe he was hearing himself do it..

It was like he was trying to step out of his body and look at himself saying it because he couldn't believe he was saying it...

and he kept saying it was because of the Bush/Cheney policies continuing in the Obama Regime... what a douche..

Oh btw Rush... if the Bush/Cheney policy worked so well, why wasn't the intel waterboarded out of them until now? and if it was, why wasn't it acted on when their "Regime" was in office..

  16. Nothing new here

I've turned off Limbaugh ages ago.
He is old news, and has nothing more of relevance to add to the discussion.

His point about him extending Bush military tactics is dead wrong. While Obama hasn't completely withdrawn from the middle east he has handled everything differently; starting with the apology tour(which I support).

The point here is that Obama did it, the intel came from a man he put in charge to find it and it came 9 months ago, no 2 years ago. Bush's effect on this victory is pretty much limited to being an impetus.
