Limbaugh: 'Thank God for President Obama'

Washington (CNN)- Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh first heaped praise upon President Obama only to then qualify his remarks during his syndicated daily show Monday after saying, "Thank God for President Obama."

In a veiled critique, Limbaugh first praised Obama's role in the operation against Osama bin Laden, but later turned sarcastically critical.

"I, me, my, three of the most used words in President Obama's media appearance last night, not a single intelligence adviser, not a single national security adviser, military adviser, came up with the idea...not one of them... according to Obama, had the ability to understand the need to get DNA. This was Obama's message last night," Limbaugh said.

He credited Obama with continuing the "Bush policies" of keeping a military presence in the Middle East and refusing to "scrub the mission to get bin Laden" early in his program.

"Ladies and gentleman, we need to open the program today by congratulating President Obama," he said. "President Obama has done something extremely effective, and when he does, this needs to be pointed out."

And Limbaugh seemingly gushed about the commander-in-chief's competency following what he called the "assassination" of Osama bin Laden Sunday.

"You see the military wanted to go in there and bomb, like they always do…But President Obama, perhaps the only qualified member in the room to deal with this, insisted on the special forces," he explained.

"Our military wanted to go in there and just scorch the earth leaving no evidence of anything after the mission. But President Obama single-handedly understood what was at stake here. He alone understood the need to get DNA to prove the death, Obama alone understood the aftermath."

According to Limbaugh, Obama's success must be linked to former President George W. Bush.

"We need to never forget that President Obama deserves praise for continuing the policies established by George W. Bush which led to the learning, the acquisition of this intel that led us to the enlarged hut in Pakistan that led to the assassination of bin Laden last night," he declared.

"Thank God for President Obama. If he had not been there, who knows what would've happened."

I don't blame Rush. I'd be just a little bit spooked of President Obama right now and leave him alone. After all, he may be "sent"
by God, since the right wing wackos don't know where he came from. Remember "The Day the Earth stood Still?
Be afraid, Rush. Be very afraid.

Rush said actually, Thank God that obama followed Bush's policies. Did you get your readout from Politico, because they said the same thing.

If obama had had his way, Gitmo would have closed and we would have never got this info.

Bush and his administration screwed around in Iraq for eight years, spending money, making more enemies and sending the United States down the toilet. If was Obama that focused on the real enemies of the US. changing the armed forces around to focus on the right things and in two years finds and kills the bad guy. Instead of going after oil and trying to load his buddies pockets full of $$$$ like Bush, Obama focused and did what is right for the United States.
Thank you Mr. President ..... America is proud of you!

Don't worry Rush, I truly believe some day you will be able to tell Bin Laden face to face just who was REALLY responsible for his death!

The word is both Trump and Limbaugh were with the Seals on the way in. Limbaugh to be used as a shield and Trump to give the Seals the lay out on the house he was leasing to Bin Laden.

Its not obvious to you that he is being sarcastic? The fact that he is saying no one else in the room thought of any of this makes it obvious unless you are not too bright. Rush is a small minded republican who could never praise the opposition.

I am in complete awe at the fact that the GOP simply refuses to give President Obama and his administration any credit for their accomplishments. Let's face it, W's administration had 8 LONG YEARS to get bin laden. And yet, they used the excuse for starting a war as a weapon of mass distraction to go after Saddam Hussein. Was bin laden ever in Iraq?! This country should be grateful to have a Commander in Chief who not only HAS intelligence, but knows how to utilize it for the best outcome possible. President Obama has been too busy trying to clean up the mess that his predecessor left to be distracted by nonsense, inuendo and blatant disrespect. (Are you listening Donald Chump?!)

We possibly could have gotten Osama Bin Laden much sooner, maybe even during Bush's first term had we not wasted money, time and lives fighting in the wrong country. President Bush seemed to have lost focus once he trained his sights on Saddam Hussein.

I love how people are trying so hard to give credit to Bush. Yeah like invading Iraq to look for weapons the CIA knew were not their while we were looking for Osama in Afghanistan was a big help. Now that is sarcasm Rush. Iraq is one of the main reasons Bush could not get him. One of the other reasons was not listening to the CIA who had him located at the start of the war, but they were ignored just as they were when they said Iraq had no WMD.

Obama did not continue Bush's policy, which was to pay little attention to Afghanistan and Pakistan in order to focus resources on Iraq. In stark contrast, Obama intensified our efforts in these two countries, and specifically tasked the CIA with eliminating Bin Laden as its highest priority. The timely discovery and termination of Bin Laden was the direct result of this significant change in policy.

Once again, Limbaugh blatantly distort the facts.

    Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

Obama does something that our previous president failed at, and yet this imbecile can't even bring himself to give the president credit. Bush failed – and then invaded the wrong country – costing us trillions of dollars and thousands of lives. Bush doesn't deserve credit, he deserves scorn. He was big of theatrics and fell very short on results. President Obama skipped the bloviating and the phony bravado and brought bin laden down. Obama 1 – Bush and the rest of the ridiculous 0.

Interesting to read some of these posts. Some think Bush should be thanked, and I cant help but wonder if people want Bush to be thanked it shoukld come from Bin Ladens family as it was Bush that ignored intellegence and went into an un funded war in Iraq at the cost of thousands of American lives. You could thank Bush for doing business with the bin Laden family over the years and the bin Ladens could thank Bush for allowing Osama bin Laden to live 10 years while the US spent billions in Iraq, but please dont thank Bush for the capure and kill of Bin Laden, the praise gos to the military, intellegence and President Barrack Hussein Obama

PTown, you thought that was praise? He bashed Obama for the speech giving a timeline of what happened last night. He neglected to mention the number of "we", "us", "they're" and "their" (referring to our military) he used.

Republicans listened to the speech to hear something that they could be unhappy with. And I may be a little guilty of doing the same thing when Bush was president. But then I kept my opinions to myself.
