
Washington (CNN) – CIA Director Leon Panetta told House members Tuesday that any way you look at it, Pakistan's role in Osama bin Laden's whereabouts was troubling.
According to two sources in a closed door briefing, Panetta told lawmakers "either they were involved or incompetent. Neither place is a good place to be."

Washington (CNN) – Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum formed a presidential exploratory committee Tuesday filing papers with the Federal Election Commission.
The move toward a run for the GOP presidential nomination was also a qualifying step set by organizers for Thursday's first debate of the primary season. The event is being held in Greenville, South Carolina and is being sponsored by the state's Republican Party and Fox News.

Washington (CNN) - Jon Huntsman formed a federal political action committee on Tuesday, taking his first concrete step toward a presidential campaign since returning from his post last week as ambassador to China.
Huntsman filed papers with the Federal Election Commission to create "H-PAC," an organization that will allow him to pay for staff and travel to key caucus and primary states as he considers a bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

Washington (CNN) - The lineup for the first Republican presidential debate of the 2012 cycle is all but set, a GOP source told CNN Tuesday.
Thursday's debate in Greenville, South Carolina, sponsored by Fox News and the South Carolina Republican Party, will feature five potential candidates, the source said: Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson and businessman Herman Cain.

Washington (CNN) - Republican Rep. Dean Heller of Nevada will be sworn in as the new senator from Nevada Monday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, announced Tuesday.
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval appointed Heller to the seat vacated by former Nevada Sen. John Ensign, who resigned his seat Tuesday amid a Senate ethics investigation.

FULL STORYWashington (CNN) - Osama bin Laden was not armed when he was shot and killed by U.S. forces in the assault on his compound in Pakistan, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Tuesday.
The al Qaeda leader resisted the assault on his compound, Carney said, adding: "I think resistance does not require a firearm."
