New Nevada senator coming Monday

Washington (CNN) - Republican Rep. Dean Heller of Nevada will be sworn in as the new senator from Nevada Monday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, announced Tuesday.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval appointed Heller to the seat vacated by former Nevada Sen. John Ensign, who resigned his seat Tuesday amid a Senate ethics investigation.

"I welcome Dean Heller to the Senate where he'll be an asset to Republican efforts to create an environment where jobs can come back, stop the administration's war on American energy during a period of record gas prices, reduce the massive debt that is slowing job growth and repeal the job-destroying health spending law and replace it with commonsense reforms that actually lower costs," McConnell said in a statement.

If he stays with the "Family" on C-Street, expect the women to be pouring in every night. Just another hypocritical "family values" wife beater.

We already know how this guy will vote on every piece of legislation that comes his way. Notice that Sen. McConnell is doing the speaking for him. Why can't we hear from the new guy himself? Come on, man.

  4. Nothing new here

If the Republicans had stuck with the old Barry Goldwater standards, they would not have to deal with these "family values" hypocrits.
There is nothing wrong with fiscal conservatism. Even as an Independent voter, I share these ideals.
I hope that the Republican party will get back to it's original platform of limited government, strong economy and personal freedoms.

Could McConnell have given this guy any more of a partisan welcome? How about something like "I welcome Dean Heller to the Senate where he'll be an asset to the people of Nevada in their efforts to improve the quality of life for themselves and future generations growing up in the state."

What a joke! I hope the senate votes on the Ryan budget as soon as he gets there. He can be the only person to vote for this idiots budget twice. Or will he vote against it after he voted it? No matter which way he votes on that bill the people of Nevada will be voting him out in 2012. We've had enough of the rethuglican political games and enough of him, first in the House and now in the Senate.
