‘Shut up and move on,’ Kerry says

Washington (CNN) - Democratic Sen. John Kerry said it is time to stop questioning the exact occurrences in Osama bin Laden’s house before his death in Abbottabad, Pakistan, at the hand of U.S. Navy SEALs.

“I thinks those SEALs did exactly what they should have done,” the senator from Massachusetts and 2004 presidential nominee said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “And we need to shut up and move on about, you know, the realities of what happened in that building.”

Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said the information gleaned from bin Laden’s compound underscores his active role in the terrorist network.

“He was, in fact, the center,” Kerry said.

He also praised the Obama administration’s handling of the situation, despite errors in initial information disseminated by the White House, something he said is “the nature of the beast.”

“Letting these folks know that we have this information is actually a way of deterring certain activities from taking place,” Kerry said. “So I think they’re (al Qaeda) on the defensive, significantly so. And I think strategically the administration has done very, very well.”

@yolanda: bin laden was hardly unarmed. he had his AK47 rifle right there and was going for it so the SEAL shot him. While doing so used his wife as a human shield – real coward. I supposed you would have waited to see if the world's most wanted terrorist would shoot you? Put your life on the line and then you can criticize or are you a muslim sympathisizer that has no problems with the murders he commited on 9/11 and other dates.

I give Bush as much credit for getting Osama bin Laden as I do to the person that invented gun power. Makes just as much sense as Osama was killed nearly two and one half years after Bush left office.

I abhor guns, truly believe peace is the best way and violence should be avoided at all costs. Human beings that are not armed should not be shot and killed. Osama bin Laden was not a human being. Human beings have humanity within them, compassion and caring. This was not bin Laden and he got what he deserved.

I must agree with Kerry. It is time praise the courage and skills of the seal team involved (not to mention all those serving in the military) – not pester them with senseless questions. It is also time to put OBL behind us and focus on finding/neutralizing the remaining terrorist leaders ASAP. If anyone really wants to know the details of what happened in the compound, let them join the military and spend some quality time in Afghanistan. I am also not a fan of GWB, but trying to blame him for all of our ills is silly.

Ok John, let's move on to the topic of the tax due on your multi million dollar yacht that you had been avoiding in Taxachusetts by registering it in Rhode Island....

@Yolanda – yes, shooting an unarmed terrorist IS okay. As I recall, every single person in the towers were ALL unarmed.

The most wanted terrorist in the world is gone and people are complaining? Are these people nuts?

OK, I give it to teh Administration for giving the go-ahead for this mission. Good gutsy call and well done. But after that, we must move away from politics and realize the signifigance of what happend here. This was a great thing for our country and the world in whole.

I enjoy how much suprise there is in the press about how these warriors snuck in, punched people in the mouth, and got out successfully. They have been doing this every night for 10 years, stay in touch with the war folks. Lastly, do not let politics make you question the actions by the force on target. Imagine if we did pull him off alive! It would have done nothing but incite riots and cause people to attack whatever facility they held the loser at. The right thing was done....move on. Enjoy your afterlife UBL.
