‘Shut up and move on,’ Kerry says

Washington (CNN) - Democratic Sen. John Kerry said it is time to stop questioning the exact occurrences in Osama bin Laden’s house before his death in Abbottabad, Pakistan, at the hand of U.S. Navy SEALs.

“I thinks those SEALs did exactly what they should have done,” the senator from Massachusetts and 2004 presidential nominee said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “And we need to shut up and move on about, you know, the realities of what happened in that building.”

Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said the information gleaned from bin Laden’s compound underscores his active role in the terrorist network.

“He was, in fact, the center,” Kerry said.

He also praised the Obama administration’s handling of the situation, despite errors in initial information disseminated by the White House, something he said is “the nature of the beast.”

“Letting these folks know that we have this information is actually a way of deterring certain activities from taking place,” Kerry said. “So I think they’re (al Qaeda) on the defensive, significantly so. And I think strategically the administration has done very, very well.”

Who in the hell is he to tell anyone to shut up and move on? If we took his advice, nothing or no one in any government would be questioned. Myself I believe OBL is dead, but on the other hand I would not hide pictures nor would I have buried the murderer at sea These two single actions alone create controversy! And what happened to a government for and by the people? Dam you senator, you shut the hell up and listen to us. Have you forgot you WORK for us and your job is NOT permanent !!! Our government should be better than this, our representatives should be better than this especially a senator saying shut up to anyone. Uncle Sam for decades has been pulling WAY too many deceptive acts and regardless of his opinion, the people do have not only a right to see the pictures, they have a duty to show them. Again I do believe he is dead, but the point here is a government trying slowly to take total control over its people making them every day not much better than any dictator or terrorist!

I agree with John Kerry. No one that was murdered by this man had any way to defend themselves. I don't care if he had a weapon or not and I'm glad that the Seals did not wait around until either he or one of his people started shooting at them. This man contributed nothing to mankind and he should have been dead a long time ago.
It really is amazing what some people have to say on this blog. Move on idiots. He is dead and I for one am glad that he is and that it didn't cost us the deaths of any of our Seals who carried out the operation. Anyway, if you look at it through the eyes of these terrorists he is somewhere dancing with 12 virgins.

So many republicans sticking up for OBL - makes one wonder –

They also hate the middle class and working poor of this country, yet the uneducated ignorant people in the red states keep forcing them down our throats. Education is needed in the red states.

@yolanda – if you can't discern the difference between torturing somebody against the Geneva conventions and taking down the most wanted man in the world, then no explanation will penetrate your self-induced thicket of ignorance.

Hey Sen. Kerry, why don't you and Obama tell Eric Holder to "Shut up and move on" re the Democratic whitch hunt that has been going on for two plus years to hang CIA agents. When a 911 family member asked Obama to call off Holder he said no and walked away from her. More great leadership from Messiah.

GLM..the story changed as there were a number of people giving their different views, example: Panetta telling Media that picture would be published and really didn't have the authority to do so. It's always that way when one is trying to outdo the other. Take a look back at Bush admin if you want to hear or read some lying bs stories.

John Kerry is a wealthy gold-diggin' nitwit who has no business running my business. It is he who should shut up and move on... maybe to a socialist EU nation where he might fit in a little better...

If the military had bombed the place to smithereens would people still be asking "Was he armed?" No. They would be theorizing that Bin Laden was not in the compound. Always complaining.

Killing is never good, it's one of the lowest acts a human can commit. But, on the other side of things, sometimes it can't be helped. I would never in a million years discount what the SEALs did, they did their job, and they are some of the most professional people to walk the planet, and also some of the kindest, most caring people around. War is hell, always has been, and always will be. Was it wrong to kill Bin Laden? It's not my place to say, but I do know it was wrong what he did to thousands of people. He's facing those he killed on the "other side", they'll be the ones who decide whether he is a monster or an unfortunate soul who succumbed to hatred and anger. Who knows, maybe they forgave him and want us to do the same, again, I don't know. Just my opinion.

Stop questioning them....for one reason this probably wasn't the SEALs. Its the exact situation that the military has spent millions of dollars on creating and training "Delta" aka CAG aka The Spooks aka they don't officially exist.

Well, gosh, Yolonda, thanks for covering all the bases and announcing that your opinion is the only one worth having. When you come off that high horse and sep back down to the real world, let's have a discussion about how the world really works.

I do not agree with Sen. Kerry on many things! Despite his obvious partisan "flip-flop" on the issue (as someone else already pointed out) that waterboarding is bad, killing an unarmed man is ok, it is time for the Monday morning quarterbacks to fade away into the background where they should have stayed in the first place!

It's very dissappointing to hear John Kerry say that we should not ask to know the full truth.

Osama bin Laden had exhibited the ability to escape in the past. There were numerous reports alluding to his wish to die a martyr. It is entirely plausible to think he may have been wearing a suicide vest. I don't question the decision to shoot him at the slightest hint of resistance. It is incredible to me that people turn this into a political argument.

Kerry was correct to call into question the behavior of troops during the Iraq War. The behavior of a poorly-disciplined, poorly-led 19 year old kid when dealing with an Iraqi civilian trying to navigate confusing checkpoints while people are yelling at him in a foreign language is not comparable to the behavior of high-disciplined, highly-trained special forces operators when going after the most wanted man in the world.
