‘Shut up and move on,’ Kerry says

Washington (CNN) - Democratic Sen. John Kerry said it is time to stop questioning the exact occurrences in Osama bin Laden’s house before his death in Abbottabad, Pakistan, at the hand of U.S. Navy SEALs.

“I thinks those SEALs did exactly what they should have done,” the senator from Massachusetts and 2004 presidential nominee said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “And we need to shut up and move on about, you know, the realities of what happened in that building.”

Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said the information gleaned from bin Laden’s compound underscores his active role in the terrorist network.

“He was, in fact, the center,” Kerry said.

He also praised the Obama administration’s handling of the situation, despite errors in initial information disseminated by the White House, something he said is “the nature of the beast.”

“Letting these folks know that we have this information is actually a way of deterring certain activities from taking place,” Kerry said. “So I think they’re (al Qaeda) on the defensive, significantly so. And I think strategically the administration has done very, very well.”

Whether UBL was armed or not, the right thing was done. The SEALs seriously risked their lives to do this for our country and should get nothing but praise. End of story.

he is so right, and this should be based on a need to know, and the average sam bob knows enough, there are still tough days ahead, we should be questioning the wmds, that never manifested

If we're going to have a conversation about why and how OBL was killed, then we should talk about why it's ok to kill someone on death row here in the good ole U S of A. We have to learn how to live with the good and the bad.

  7. Nothing new here

Why does EVERYTHING have to be a debate these days??
A mass-murdering terrorist was taken down.
Thank you, U.S. Navy SEALs, for your courage and dedication.

Yes people..shut up. Stop questioning your government. They know best. Don't even think of raising a single eyebrow at their actions. Just sit down, shut up, and do what you're told and it will all be okay.

It was Bush himself who said "Dead or Alive" for Bin Laden. I don't think there was any doubt that if we found him we were going to exact swift, lethal justice on him no matter the circumstances.

I don't think anyone's questioning what the SEAL's did, I think people are questioning what went down... because up to this point, there's about 7-8 different versions of what went on, all of which have been leaked from the WH. And as usual, John Kerry opens his big mouth up and jumps in to defend something that 3 years ago he would have been leading the charge against... how pathetic!

I agree with what John Kerry is saying, but the fact that it's coming out of his mouth makes me laugh. What a total hypocrite.

Good job SEALS. Obama did this right. I am a republican, but this would not have been handled any different by a republican president. I think Obama has shown he's able to make the tough decisions, when it concerns national security. Now if we can just meet eye to eye on his politics. I agree with John Kerry, in one regard. This is over, we got the bad guy. Let's move on, because the war is not over. Plenty of bad guys left to kill. Yolanda, feel free to pick up a gun and help out, or shut up.

I agree with him. Even if Osama's wife is telling the truth that we took him alive and executed him, I really do not have a problem with that. But what is funny is that if the exact operation would have went down under Bush, Kerry would be leading the charge of continued questions. Is there a politician out there who is not a hypocrite?

Osama and Al Qaeda waged war with the US and anyone not in line with their twisted beliefs. I approve of his and any method that would keep our fellow world dwellers, not just Americans, SAFE. You may not like the way he was dispatched from this earth but he would have most certainly done the same to his enemies. Eff the Pakistanis if the don't like it. We give them billions and that alone should keep their mouths shut. Obama handled it as best as he could – very professionally and with little collateral damage. When you stop listening to the media and politicians you can hear some truth and justice for the Jihad waged against us – the infidels, Christians and Jews of this world. Toil in hell Osama.

When they stop questioning the CIA and when we balance our internal policing then this all goes away.

Why the shut up and move on now stance? He was all about questioning every little thing with the Bush administration. Oh yeah I forgot it is the classic "do as I say and not as I do" thing.

He was killed at the end of the fight. What stopped him to pick up the gun earlier? He was ordered to kill no matter how he would have reacted.

Osama bin Laden was not unarmed. He was a terrorist and was responsible for thousands upon thousands of deaths whether directly or indirectly. The world is a safer place because he is not alive. The documents they took show they were planning an attack on U.S. trains this September 11, 10 years to the day after 9/11/01. Even though we may never know who is in Navy SEAL Team Six the entire country owes these men. Not just for this mission but for everything they did before and will do after. Even though it has only been one week who knows how many more missions these heroes have gone on. God Bless the SEALs and everyone in the military.
