That's it. I've decided to learn Spanish. I want to be able to speak the accepted language of the country I live in - that being the USA.

I really wish people would understand more about the process before they speak.. Obama has been pushing for more money going to education and everyone knows it.. Do these two guys understand when the GOP blocks funding, the president just can't override the Congress and the House..Ask the GOP for more funding and see what they say and where were both of you when the Teachers in the Country were getting laid off.. U entertainers kill me.....

Shouldn't they be pushing the people in congress even harder on immigration? Especially the Republicans, they're the ones holding up progress on this issue!

Democrats controlled Congress and Executive branch for two to last 2 years of GW presidency, they are the ones holding everything up and not getting it done. Just like not passing a budget for this year.

  9. Republicans - "The Not Intended To Be Factually Accurate Party"

To Mssers. Lopez, Guiterrez, Navarette, etc.

Nice try but you can't punk the President. There's only one party that has demonstrated it's commitment to equal protection under the law for Latinos ... and it isn't the party that wants the police to pull you over and check your papers. You might ask Sonya Sotomayor who she thinks is on the right side of the law.

There is work to do on immigration but you would be smart to mobilize Latinos to vote for President Obama and Democrats like never before in 2012 IF you want to have a chance at immigration reform.

Let the GOP have to defend Texas in the presidential election due to Latino voters , let the House Democrats pick up seats in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Oaklahoma, Nevada, throw Jan Brewer out of the statehouse in Arizona and then Latinos will be in a better position to the topic of imigration.

Obama has done NOTHING to further comprehensive immigration reform since he's been in office. His recent "efforts" are nothing more than a campaign move for 2012. Don't expect anything to actually be done while he is in office. Its no surprise latinos are skeptical of his motives.

The GOP has been openly hostile towards latinos and the Democrats have been the only ones who have been showing any sign of support to the latino populaton. You can decide the Democrats aren't doing quite enough to satisfy you and just refuse to vote. Look out how well that worked out in the 2010 elections – half the Dems stayed home which gave the GOP the majority and immediately started shoving throught their extreme right agenda.

For you liberals, the law is the law no matter how want to twist it. ILLEGAL Immagrants are just that, ILLEGAL!! So why you are even pondering it doesnt make any sense to me. And for the latinos, has MR. Oboma done anythign for your cause besides dodging the topic like a bad habit? This is of course until campaign season came around again and is trying to get the "latino vote" with the same false promises that he gave you all the last election when he tried to get your vote, lets stop and think folks!!

I'd really like for one of these Latino groups to stand up for the US citizen chicanos y chicanas. What about the harrassment US citizens are going through by their fellow countrymen due to the influx of illegals? What about the people with deep ancestral roots in the US who are being told to go back to Mexico and being accused of taking away jobs from Americans? Even though they're American! Yes, it's being perpetuated by ignorant dolts but I don't hear any of these groups standing up for the rights of this country's citizens. The ACLU, in fighting SB1070, seems like the only organization that gives a rats behind about Hispanic citizens. How can organitzations like La Raza let unauthorized people sully the reputation of tan people that have always been here, even earlier than the civil war?

    President Obama's words in bracket!!!

["I want incomes for middle class families to rise again,"]
YES! Everything balanced so a carefree LIFE can begin!

["I want prosperity in this country to be widely shared..."]
And NOT only enjoyed by so FEW – Everyone works hard – It’s NOT fair!!

["I want everybody to be able to reach that American dream..."]
Because in reality we are ALL AMERICANS and on the same team!!

[β€œ... and that's why immigration reform is an economic imperative."]
In realty MANY have already contributed and on their way to be constructive!!!

Latinos should be patient and realize that President Obama – MORE than the RIGHT – is on their side.... Pass the DREAM ACT – A mind, body and SOUL is a terrible thing to waste!!

Well, if they don't like Obama that much, they can vote for Republicans and see how far they get with that. It'll be nowhere.

Latinos like George Lopez and Mr. Santana really irritates me. Obama just got in office being the first black president. Many latinos seem to lack any understanding of the hard fought civil rights of blacks and don't understand the politics of this country. White authority still America. . Obama can't just do what the latinos want. Republicans wish people like George Lopez would go back to his native country. If they want to risk tougher immigration policies against hispanics they better stop acting like they have a choice. They don't.

    May 10, 2011 07:21 pm at 7:21 pm |

Lopez, and Santana should bring their fight to congress...... The President and DEMS want imigration reform. The GOP does not.......The President can't just pass a law. Congress must pass a bill first..... The President only signs bills, and makes them law.

  20. Demorats - Just not too smart

Yea Lopez what a political leader. He is just playing the president for immigration reform so we all have to suck up the huge cost of adding a bunch of illegals to our social system. Of course we need reform but that doesn't mean letting these people get away with breaking US law and then slapping them on the wrist. Get real and stop the leak at the border more before handing out amnesty. Unfortunately i don't think the libs have the brain power in washington to understand this simple concept. They want some big package full of promises to keep their latino votes coming in.
